The oline is getting rolled
-
I thought we were good at home
-
the o-line needs to start playing like they did prior to the UNI game and what is up with all of the trick plays.. fake fg.. flea flicker.. would be nice to play football and not have to count on so many tricks. Danny is overthinking this... By the way Indiana STate is not Western Illinois in terms of talent. They did way better than us against UNI
-
team is still walking back from UNI
-
O-line needs to step up
-
well.. his conversion percentage this year on xtra points would not align with your confidence but if he is the kicker this weekend I would like to see it. At some point we need to be able to make FG's and xtra points and they should not be an excited play unless its 45+ yds. Right now Im open to local tryouts.. I know the GFC kid is really solid and I would guess there is a soccer player or two.. Maybe its kostich.. Maybe its the holder.. Maybe its the snapper.. but at some point the kicks have to go through the uprights.

So after rewatching a chunk of the UNI game Im really hoping to see improvement across the board. The o-line really struggled in the game and they will need to be back to NDSU game level the rest of the season. Looking forward to seeing some of the depth in the RB room should be fun Overall our WR group looked pretty solid.. one bad drop from Nate. I think our underperformance in this area was more due to QB/Oline play. Seemed like lots of open WR. Im hopeful to see 2 full quarters of our backup QB's.. it would be nice to know what we have in that area. I would like to see something from out kicking group. Eventually we will need somebody to make a FG I want the punter to be asleep on the sidelines.. but if for some reason he gets in we need some improvement. was pretty bad against UNI Our defense has been better this year.. but our best defensive player against UNI might have been the UNI WR hands. Continued improvement this week. Would love to see a dominating performance and run the table in the remaining 4 games.

Probably means Im not a true fan. Im much more excited about seeing Feeney with some quality time than seeing any of Jerry. I hope they are both great

might be reading a little too much into the podcost.. Shannon's comment seemed like he was making a joke out of the cottontops and grey hairs to me.. lots of references to Buicks as well. Kelly's comment about idiots also cracked me up.. There are some comments on these pages that are really crazy.. Im sure we have all made them some more than others. I enjoyed the podcast like normal.. it was a nice distraction. Didnt realize that the RB group was quite as banged up as they said. Should be a fun couple of weeks to see some of the younger guys in the room and Im hoping to see some quality time from our backup QB's as well.

I know its an impossible question but this is where it would really interesting to understand Danny's mindset (By the way i continue to believe Danny is responsible for continuing to roll Tommy out there not Bubba). I totally understand the idea that we made some half time adjustments lets give Tommy the 1st series out of halftime to see if it worked.. but.. 3 and out.. UNI touchdown.. 3 and out. These 6 plays for a total of -2 yd, included 2 sacks.. 1 short run basically a sack.. 1 incomplete pass, 1 short completion. 1 completion for 12 yds. Obviously all of this is not 100% on Tommy (Line didnt have its best day) Seems like there was plenty of data to say.. Hey Tommy.. not your day bud.. we are going give the lefty a chance and see if there is a team spark. Instead 3 more series to Tommy and then dumping Feeney in when there are about 90 seconds remaining. Granted in those 90 insignificant seconds the ball was snapped over his head and he threw two short passes when he needed 25 yds.

agree 100%. One would have thought starting the 2nd half with drives going 3 and out (3 yds), 3 and out (-5 yds), 5 and out (15 yds) after having a very ineffective 1st half that there would have been a strong thought to bring in the lefty.. The fumble on our first drive (0-0).. followed by missing a chipshot 34yd FG (0-10).. followed by quick TD by UNI (0-17), followed by 3 and out (-5yds). The offense had time after time to respond and make it a a game again and each time it did nothing. We still had hope starting the 3rd quarter and 3 straight nothing drives.. It was time to bring in the lefty and at least give him a shot.

Feeney hasnt even gotten in yet and you already prefer the next backup.. Im hoping they both are awesome. My guess is that we all need to hope that Tommy figures his !@#$ out this year as barring injury or complete meltdown we are stuck. Danny has had multiple opportunities to at least start to head in a different direction and so far hasnt been willing to even start looking.
-
so your answer is Jerry would jump Feeney because you made a meme on the internet?
-
I generally agree with this although I think he has regressed this year substantially over last year. Seems like he is playing with zero confidence in big games. On Saturday he was turtling up before the rush would even get home. Last year i felt even though he didnt always do well that he played with confidence and looked to run out of a bad situations.. Also, to be clear I have zero QB analysis skills other than what i have learned on the internet watching football while drinking.
-
Why would Danny jump over Feeney to put in a true Freshman? By the way the next two games are ones that I would like to see a lot of Feeney in, should be pretty straightforward games and I assume the offensive line has a little adjustment to make with a left handed QB. What I expect to happen though is Tommy looks decent in the next two games and so we dont actualy find anything out about Feeney.
-
I think many would argue with that line.. Tommy has not been good in big games this year. In the NDSU game all he had to do was hand the ball off which he did very well.. Against bad teams he has had very good statistics.
-
These kicker arguments always annoy me.. an extra point should not be an exciting play.. it’s not up for discussion.. if it’s not talent.. it’s scheme and they both suck. field goals less than 40 yds should be 90+%.. instead und has been scared to attempt them for the last 3+ yrs.. that’s not because 92 is lights out and automatic..
-
Not sticking up for prater.. but this is a terrible argument.. nfl uprights are like half the width and our xtra points are literally 19 yd fgs.. he has missed two of them this year.. get over it buddy.
-
I think he has already missed 2 xtra points this year.. so not money from about 20 yds..
-
We are missing a kicker that is as good as the local high schools.. I’m not sure if it’s talent or scheme.. GFC hit a game winner from 44 Friday night
-
Danny decides who the QB is and who plays…
-
This loss is 100% on the offense and special teams. Our inability to make what should be gimme field goals is totally depressing.. GFC kicker made a 44 yd fg on Friday.. watching Tommy turtle up and throw short passes is depressing. He is playing with zero confidence and has lost his mojo.. plus the turnovers.. It’s time for a change. not sure what happened to the OL between last week and this week. the defense wasn’t great but if the offense even gave us a chance it would have been enough to win. The highs of last week quickly turned into the lows.
-
I had this exact conversation with an NDSU friend last night. There really arent all that many truely hostile environments in the MVFC. Yah they beat us 5 times in a row but 4 of them were in the Fargodome which is a really significant home field advantage and they struggled 2 years ago in the alerus and what a result this year!! Biggest issue for the Bison now is Entz.. I would be willing to chip in for them to keep him around.
-
I agree 100%. That year is one of the biggest what-if years outside of the Richmond home playoff loss year. Almost beat the bison at home.. somehow lost extremely winnable games in heartbreaking fashion to USD, Southern Illinois and Missouri St on the road and finished the year nearly beating SDSU on the road. As I recall we had some significant kicking challenges.. injuries or something, and some really bad fumbles/TO's in the road games coupled with some very strange coaching decisions/weird punting decisions.
-
I agree with this 100%.. Tommy can be super shifty. That little TD run of his was great and he also had that QB Sack and escape and run that was fun to watch as well. I also dont think anyone would confuse Tommy with a confident running quarterback. Romfo looked much better running the ball than Tommy does and the two NDSU QB's are both much more confident runners than Tommy is. Also.. another nice thing to point out has been the improvement in the extra point game CJ has looked great out there. I still dont understand the gameplan of not kicking the ball into the endzone on kickoffs but Im also even more convinced that they are doing it on purpose versus lack of kicking ability which is a direct reflection on the special team coordinator. Western Illinois had about 2 people with some real talent/ability and we managed to kick it to their best player every time #1.
