  1. I don't know the NCAA hasn't clearly defined "hostile and abusive" has it?
  2. Doesn't the term Dakota refer to, and unfairly sterotype a group of people?
  3. The Dakota Nation said that they don't refer to themselves as Sioux in the WDAZ news clip, I believe that they are also putting it in their new resolution. Our questions are legitimate, you're just using it as another excuse to not have to answer them. You have said numerous times that this issue doesn't matter unless the Native Americans speaking out are Sioux/Dakota/Lakota/Nakota, and now it's all Native Americans? What you have said over and over is that the only Native American opinions that count are the ones that agree with you. Everyone else is a moron. Would you please answer my question that I asked you several weeks ago? For what reason/reasons did you choose the University of North Dakota to further your education?
  4. Thanks, Diggler. *remembers the number on your jersey and doesn't check you into the boards later*
  5. I like how you call me a name and then say I'm not nice. I'm not from Grand Forks, and if you have such distain for Grand Forks, leave. No one is asking you to stay. You're not the first, or the only person on this planet that's been discriminated against, so quit acting like you are. I had the luck of landing the job of my dreams when I graduated from the University of North Dakota. I was discriminated against at that job, based on something that I could not control. And after five years it wasn't fun, and eventually I decided that I had enough, it wasn't worth it anymore. I could have bitched and moaned and pointed fingers and blamed everyone. I could have let my hatred and anger ruin the rest of my life. But I didn't. I put that energy into something positive. I started my own business, worked hard to get it up and running, and it's starting to turn it into a very profitable business. I have really started to make a name for myself. Think about all the positive things you might be able to accomplish if you weren't blaming everyone else for the problems in your life 24/7. People who bitch and moan and let things ruin their lives don't live very long. Refocus your energy and do something that will actually make a difference in someone's life.
  6. CNN Headline News just said that the University of North Dakota hasn't held up their part of their agreement with the Spirit Lake Nation regarding the Fighting Sioux nickname.
  7. Holy hostility, Batman.
  8. I don't think anyone is saying there wasn't an agreement, I would like to know what UND did or didn't do as part of that agreement.
  9. UND has no mascot. If the Spirit Lake Nation doesn't refer to itself as "Sioux" why do they oppose the nickname?
  10. I meant what is UND's viewpoint on whether or not they did the things that they said they were going to do.
  11. That falls under the "do as I say, not as I do" exemption.
  12. There are two sides to every story.
  13. Change the name, doze down Engelstad Arena, take away all of the programs and incentives associated in any way to Native Americans and forget about them. "Be careful what you wish for, it might come true."
  14. 100 out of over 5000 enrolled members? That's a really poor tournout. Also consider that several of those who attended were probably not enrolled members.
  15. I don't know why, but I laughed really hard at that. A much needed laugh, thank you.
  16. That's too bad, they definately have more important things to be concerned about.
  17. *sings* come on, come on listen to the money talk
  18. How about great quotes from the players on the ice. Oh, the things that you hear when you're right down front. "Mom, I heard what she just said!"
  19. 5 of Minnesota's players just got called up to the National Team, with a shot of being named to the Olympic Team. That should make the season a little more interesting. We just may have a new National Champion this year.
  20. I don't know where to put this so I'll just put it here. Two weeks ago, I sent a really sarcastic email to the NCAA regarding sale of merchandise on their website from the schools that included the banned logos. Of course I got no response. Today the Boston Sun had this to say: No ban when it comes to shopping Published August 25, 2005 The NCAA has taken a stand against nicknames and mascots that represent--or misrepresent--Native American symbols and traditions. Except, apparently, at the NCAA Sports Store on the Internet (www.shopNCAAsports.com) where the prohibition on the exploitation of American Indian culture doesn't extend to the souvenir market. In fact if you've got $75 burning a hole in your pocket, you can order an Illinois Fighting Illini Chief bracelet charm directly from the NCAA. A 7 1/2-inch Chief bracelet will run you $550. How about a children's book featuring Chief Illiniwek, sure to become a collector's item. Apparently it's offensive for the Chief to show his painted face at a sanctioned tournament, but it's all right to sell souvenirs with his likeness on an official NCAA site. Hey, for $54.99 you can buy an Arkansas State beanbag chair with the school's logo and nickname (Indians). And if you're looking for a nice North Dakota Fighting Sioux Youth Hockey Jersey ($114.99), the NCAA has a deal for you. Where does the NCAA stand on political correctness?
  21. Yes.
  22. My glass is half full. I can't see any of this standing up. It's ridiculous. The NCAA is not going to get away with this.

  24. I think this ruling is great for UND. The NCAA is going to back down to all of the schools.
