This conversation is starting to remind me of someone upset about getting a speeding ticket (when they were infact speeding) and telling the officer that they pay their salary. Which in reality comes down to about a nickel. And, no, there is no shortage of students.....but you get my point.

So what happens to the University if there are no students? It's their University.

GIVE THE STUDENTS THE SEATS! Anything to liven the crowd up and help the atmosphere in Englestad. Point is, no solution is going to make everyone happy. Didn't NDSU used to have the student section in a really crappy place in the FargoDope, and they moved it? *shrugs* EDITED TO ADD: If the people in those sections don't want to renew their tickets because they are moved to center ice, there are people waiting in line to buy their tickets.

I need more cowbell, gotta have that cowbell.

My greatest football memory was when Mike Mooney stripped the ball, we scored and beat the Bison for the first time in 13 years. The entire student section ran out on the field and ripped the goal post down. I don't know if I'll ever feel emotion like that again in my life. It was incredible to be in Memorial Stadium and be a part of that. I lost my voice for about 3 days. I guess my point is that you really can't choose what you love in this life, but you shouldn't belittle someone because you think what you love is better than what someone else loves.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that some of the complaining about the students standing came from the suite level.

I'm the kind of fan who gets to the REA 45 minutes to a half hour early and stay til most of the people have cleared the building. I dunno, I guess I just enjoy the atmosphere that much and I just wanna soak it up. What always makes me wonder is what fun is it to show up five minutes late and leave when there is still time on the clock? IMO those of us who want to stay til the final whistle blows should complain about the stampede of people that leave early.

How many current season ticket holders do you think never attended a game at the old REA? I seriously think that may be a part of the problem.

I think using the Sioux student section, the Piston fans, and the Red Sox fan last night in the same post isn't quite fair. The students are the University of North Dakota. Let them stand, let them cheer. The "who's he, he sucks s&!t" chant has been around forever (well since before I went to UND) and suddenly they can't say it? That's like letting your kids do something for years and then one day telling they can't anymore 'cause it's wrong. I remember being completely obnoxious at football and hockey games, it's not fair to take that stuff away from the students, it was part of college life and it should remain. Crap I remember being completely sober and almost getting into fights with Bison fans........ As far as I'm concerned Kupchella can leave the University of North Dakota before the students leave the REA.
