  1. I read on D2football.com that Omaha is bringing their band up to Grand Forks for the game. I can't remember a team doing this in the past, maybe the Bison did, but I'm not sure. It is going to be a war!

    Sioux by 7 this time...

I know a few years ago when we played UC-Davis in the playoffs (when they had the mullet man, JT O'Sullivan at QB), they brought their band with...That was the playoff however. This game will definitely have a playoff atmosphere...can't wait!

  2. I have bought my $10 tickets at the Ralph box office. No reason not to attend this one folks....especially for the low price. Looking at Ticketmaster, plenty of tickets remain as of this morning. The price on ticketmaster.com is $7.50/ticket. I assume it comes out to be $10 with the fees. You could get them online and choose "will call" or "print now" to get your tickets.

I just got done buying tix as well. I went to the Ralph and bought 6 tix on the 10 yard line half way up on the Sioux sidelines. Hopefully people start buying tix for this game...it will most likely be the biggest/most exciting game of the year, outside of a possible semi-final matchup (which may not occur if we don't win this one).

  3. I suppose the next thing you are going to say is a Grinder from the Red Pepper is disgusting. Saying Pizza Corner is disgusting is like saying the Pope is Jewish. Just isn't right.

I agree...and if you ever have a chance to eat at the Pizza Corner restaurant in Valley City do it...The Pizza tastes even better...

  4. I just returned from Northwood. My employer allowed around 20 of us to head down and help out. We spent most of the day helping out at the Hospital/Nursing Home. We also went to a few random houses and helped out. It's amazing how much damage can be done in just a few minutes. The people of Northwood will be needing assistance for quite some time. I should also mention that the folks I visited with all seemed to be in pretty good spirits and thankful for the help they are receiving.

  5. A few years back (5 or 6 I think), I was in NYC visiting my little brother. We were on top of the Empire State Building and ran into a guy wearing a UND sweater. It turned out to be Andy Schneider's dad and his family. He was there to see the Sioux on an East Coast swing to Princeton and Yale. My brother and I ended up taking the train to both Princeton, NJ and New Haven, Conn and caught both games...both of which the Sioux won. The Yale game also had a huge fight which was a bonus!

  6. Speaking of that, what exactly is the white sauce? I only tried it once a long time ago and vaguely remember it. All I know is that it wasn't good. I had it on a taco though.

I have heard that it is a combo of milk, mayo, and pepper...not sure if that's 100% accurate though.

  7. I see dmk's point. The way I see it:

    * If I get a call from a headhunter and agree to talk to his client, that's not actively looking for a job.

    * If I'm sending out feelers, letting my contacts know that I might be ready to move, that's feeling out my options.

    * If I'm sending out resumes, that's actively looking.

Lennon seems to be doing the first. It could still very well result in him changing jobs, but I wouldn't characterize him as having been actively looking.

Jim, thanks for clarifying what I was trying to get across. In addition to what Jim said, perhaps the rumors of unrest within the athletic department aren't as bad as what some people are making them out to be. Yes, I like to take the optimistic approach to things.

  8. That is correct. He did not apply. A committee identified him, and the school contacted him.

I guess we can take some consolation in the fact that he isn't actively looking for new job. Maybe he just wants to see what his value is on the market for when his contract with UND is up for renewal...we can always hope...

  9. I was watching Fox sports (Channel 10) last night and the reporter stated that Lennon never applied for the job initially. There were initially 70 applicants for the position. The reporter stated that Lennon was contacted by the MSU search committee. Has anyone else heard or able to confirm this?

  10. If I am not mistaken aren't we supposed to get the new takers?

Our congressmen are lobbying for the new tankers, but to my knowledge...A new mission with the new tankers for GFAFB has not occured.

  11. Does anyone have any pictures of the girls on the counter doing the "Coyote" dance?

    I heard it was great!

My buddy took a picture of it with his camara phone...I'll see if he can't get it emailed to me...and the dance was great!

  12. these are always fun but JAM packed....will stop for a couple though for sure

LINK PLEASE ;) sorry, had to be the first to say this.......joking of course

I agree that they are packed, but what a blast it was last year in Milwaukee! All the small screens had Sioux highlites playing. I especially enjoyed reliving the old fights they were showing. One of the guys in our group got separated from us and when he finally made it to the pre-game party he found himself standing in line next to Tony Hrkac! They were going to charge Tony to get into the party but my buddy said there was no way Tony Hrkac should have to pay to be at that party so he paid the cover for him. I recommend any Sioux fans who will be in St. Louis to at least stop by and check it out.

  13. Yes, the Hobey is announced and then there's the skills competition (w/none other than John Curry participating... at least he was voted in as a participant).

So is the announcement made from the ice where people attending the skills competition will be able to witness it live...or is it in a separate room and if so, are tix available to the general public?

  14. HockeyMom loves Sheryl Crow like a fat kid loves cake. I'm going the day she's there......and maybe more than that. :silly: Saw her twice last summer.

I'm not real excited about her, but it's a nice change from strictly hearing country all weekend. Maybe she'll bring Kid Rock along. I believe my co-worker was supposed to or she did go to that Sheryl Crow show with you.

  15. link

I think it's absolutely great they're honoring a real American hero in a sports arena but that's where my spidey sense tingles...why at the Ralph? Obviously the family gave their okay for this memorial (and Thank You BTW!) - but their roots are in a reservation now "hostile" to UND's use of the Sioux name. Is it a message from the elders that they think the Sioux nickname is okay? Is it an effort to make the Ralph a sports arena AND MUSEUM?? :D

(I don't think anyone can make a museum change anything - it IS history! )

Don't get me wrong...I think it's great but the timing and content make me wonder...what's going on here?

I'm not sure if the REA is going to continue to honor and educate people about Native American culture...but I thought it was a good idea then http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6520... sorry...shameless plug ...and still do believe it is a great opportunity. Unlike what Myles Brand says, this shows that the University IS doing it's part in working with the Native American community to do something positive, and promote Native American culture.

  16. Valley City & Mayville were 2 schools that have ties to NDSU and scheduled us during our transition period. Besides fb why didn't UND schedule NDSU in anything during that period? Why should we help you with your transition? There's no upside to NDSU except in bb. attendance and that's only 2 games. Our fb attendance is close to selling out (over 16,000) and if we get into the gateway will be real close to selling out. Have fun!! PS: Don't you have USD as a partner or do you?

Didn't UND and NDSU continue to play in Baseball for one year. I remember something about a lopsided UND victory in the last game and then NDSU refusing to schedule UND the next year.

  17. Tribal government is more volatile than anything you can imagine. Standing Rock is one of the worse examples. UND could reach an agreement with the tribe and two weeks later a new leader will emerge at Standing Rock and do a 180 on whatever was agreed. Spirit Lake is a little more stable and has many ties to UND. However, UND has previously reached an agreement with Spirit Lake and they still came out against the name, then came out for it, then against it, now they are kind of for it again, maybe.

UND has done more for Native students than nearly any university in the country. I think they should continue to do so, regardless of the name issue.

Helping Native students and helping the tribe are not the same. UND needs to be very careful when dealing with tribal government. Unfortunately some tribal leaders do not see how helping Native students help them.

So does anyone know if the FSU exemption will need to be reapproved after so many years or have they been granted an indefinite exemption.

  18. What are the chances UND and the NCAA reach some sort of settlement prior to the April court date? There seems to be some support (depending on who you ask) among the Sioux tribes, and I would guess that UND will continue to work on growing these relationships. We also have the current resolution from the Spirit Lake tribe which in effect supports the name. Now that the courts have issued the injunction, would the NCAA consider a probationary period for UND which would allow them to work with the Sioux Tribal governments and see if a consensus on the name, one way or the other, can be reached. The NCAA claims they wanted to create a dialogue, so perhaps here's there chance to let that play out?
