  1. I agree with you about Miller having a outstanding year. Gionta would have been a fluke. He had something like 56 points that year compared to Jeff's 83. As far as Parise/Lessard. Lessard had 8 more points than Parise, but played 8 more games than him. Zach made everyone on his team a much better player. Not to say that Jr. didn't do that, but Parise was the complete package for a college hockey player. His work ethic was second to none, which speaks volumes. This was one of the cases where the voters needed to look beyond the players' stats, and actually look at the players on the ice.
  2. I think Armbrust, a freshman at the time, was as surprised as anyone to see the puck land on his stick the way it did. My brother and I went through the roof of his basement (actually, I think my head did hit his ceiling) on that goal. Nothing better than beating the Gophs! Let's hope for a great weekend of Sioux hockey!!!
  3. Thanks PCM.
  4. Won the Hobey: Peter Sejna 82 pts Jason Krog 85 pts Cris Drury 57 pts Brendan Morrison 78 pts Brian Bonin 81 pts Didn't win the Hobey: Jeff Panzer 83 pts Ryan Miller was a stellar goalie in college, his numbers back him up all the way. He's still a quality goaltender. Did Panzer not make it in the NHL because of size and lack of muscle (let's face it, he doesn't really have the body of a NHL player)? Panzer's number were comparable or better than past winners. I believe everyone above deserved the trophy (even Drury), but I also believe Panzer should have been on that list. I think it will always be controversial, mostly for Sioux fans. It sure would have been nice to see a hometown boy walk away with the hardware, especially when he put up the numbers to earn it.
  5. I'm sure Murray's happy with his gold medal.
  6. I wouldn't count on Parise being in the running. In it's illustrious history, only 4 goaltenders from the WCHA have ever made it into the 10 finalist list, with Stauber being the only WCHA goalie to win it. Where Parise has most likely been the most valuable player thus far from the Sioux, I don't expect him to be anywhere in the running for the award unless his numbers improve, and unfortunately, with the youth we have on this team, that probably won't happen. Panzer and Z.Parise were robbed from this award!!! Lessard's playing where? Oh yeah, Iowa.
  7. "Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of the hat!" That's a pretty cool hat trick
  8. It all comes down to team chemistry. You can have all the talent in the world, but if they don't blend well together, they won't win this tournament. I do think the U.S. has the talent to do it, but if they can't play as a team, they won't even get to the medal round. How far does team chemistry get you? Look back to the '80 U.S. Olympic team, filled with nobody's. In my eyes, winning this tournament is bigger than a NCAA championship. You represent your country in an international tournament. What would be more rewarding than walking away with the gold? I've always admired that Blais and now Hak is willing to give up players so they can play in this tournment. Where it will definitely hurt the Sioux not to have these players in the lineup, giving them this opportunity is just the best thing to do as a coach and a person.
  9. My introduction to the Sioux-Gopher series was on a brutal February evening, with -22 degree temps (without wind chill). At the time, it really sucked, but now that I looked back, it was an awesome experience. The Gopher's came in that weekend rated #1 in the country and had a 19 game winning streak (with Brian Bonin being their leading scorer). Sioux won 8-2 the first night and something like 6-2 the second night. Teeder Wynne became the nation's leading scorer after that weekend, and it was by far, the best series I ever took part in (although the great comeback a few years later, where the Sioux scored 5 goals in the 3rd period to win 5-3 was good too). Let's hope for another great weekend for the Sioux!!!
  10. So you're the one who killed Bambi!!! Is your dog by you tonight? Good way to improve his winning %.
  11. Good thing he doesn't have access to his car. He might try to hijack the zamboni!
  12. Schwarz gone for hit on Zajac.
  13. For the past decade, the NHL has pretty much been about size, which as we know, Sparky doesn't have. However, with the new rules of the NHL, it's giving the smaller players a chance to showcase their skills. Therefore, it's a good possibility that Sparky will be picked up as a free agent with some team, and be given a shot.
  14. 124 111 3
  15. Hat Trick Spirko!!!
  16. If we keep playing teams like Tech, your dog's winning % is likely to increase
  17. What did they do, go to the Crazy Horse after the game (for those of you not familiar with Anchorage, that's a pretty good strip club)
  18. My suggestion would be to play Lammy on Friday for a while. Since the team seems to play so good on Friday, give the kid a break. Put Parise in on Sat.
  19. Whitwell, Tennessee, which is about 15 miles west of Chattanooga.
  20. Took the dog out, come back and we have two goals!!!! Excuse me while I step out again
  21. Time to start playing boys.
  22. Dingle scores, 2-0 Denver.
  23. Reasoning is pretty simple actually. WCHA regular season is very grueling, and not too many teams stay with just one goalie the entire season. The majority of teams, including the Sioux, rotate goalies in order to keep them well rested. Where I'm sure JPar wanted to play tonight, Hak simply decided that he needed a break, as he did play both games last weekend. It's also good to keep both of them in game form, in case an injury occurs to the other.
  24. ZPar an assist in the Devils game tonight.
