  1. I greatly miss my season tickets, sitting nine rows behind the net that the Sioux shoot on in the 1st and 3rd period! First year in ten years where I haven't seen a live game yet this far into the year (okay, I saw every home game live practically, for my first 8 years, and then the majority in the last 2 years). Just isn't the same not being there.
  2. I think the President of the United States could show up and the students would still chant that
  3. Wheeler only had one good chance, and it was a long shot. He tried a backhand on Parise's shortside. It wasn't a clear breakaway, but he did get in front of the defenseman. If bounces were going his way, the puck could have rolled up Parise and into the net. I was glad to see it didn't. Kessel played his game, and as much as people hate him, the kid's got talent. Regardless of thoughts on Irmen, his presence was felt in last nights game, as was Potulny's. The last few times they've come to GF, they've been on the score sheet. We need to shut the two of them down tonight. I'm hoping the Sioux have more of a jump in their step tonight, especially in the first period. That first goal :58 into the game hurt us. We need Stafford to play a stronger game, and I'm sure he knows that. We also need everyone else to give 100%.
  4. Look for Frazee to start tonight for the Gophers. Lucia mentioned last night prior to the game that he wanted both goalies to play for now. Unless he has a change in heart, I expect to see him. As for the Sioux, it will be an interesting call. It's Lammy's turn, but I have a feeling that Hak will go with JPar again. Just a feeling though. Maybe I'll be wrong on both calls...wouldn't be the first time
  5. I agree. I think the one game that Hak benched him helped remind him of what role he needs to take with this team. He's acted very mature this year compared to previous years, and has been a very smart player. IMHO, the one thing I'd like to see from him is for him to pass off a little quicker. It seems that at times, he's holding onto the puck too long, which is hurting the attack.
  6. What! It's not the Potato Bowl?!!
  7. Guys stand in front of goalies all the time, just outside of the crease, which inhibit goalies field of view. Often times, it results in goals. We praise our guys when they can screen the goalie which leads to a goal. It looked like Parise had a clear view at Kessel's shot. However, he was preoccupied with Stoa, which contributed to Parise letting up the goal. I try to think if it were the other way around with a Sioux player in the Gopher's goalie crease, and I don't think I'd see it as interference that way, so why should I see it as interference this way. I'm not Woog or Mazacco.
  8. Or one of the great shorthanded chances we had.
  9. The "In the crease" rule is no longer in affect. Players can be in the crease. Goals will be disallowed if players interfere with goalies, resulting in a goal.
  10. There was contact between Parise and the defenseman. Unfortunately for us, it was Parise pushing his glove against him and that was about the extent of it. I've watched the play a few times now, and it really looks like that defenseman distracted him enough to the point where he wasn't fully ready for the shot by Kessel. He forgot to hug the shortside post, and the puck went right by him. It never looked like JPar wanted to come out any further to cut down the angle of the shot (not to say he didn't want to). The Gophers had players low all night, and Parise didn't come out of the goal a whole bunch to attempt to cut down angles. I understand why Parise wanted him out of there. Whenever a goalie has an opponent jersey right there, they don't want it right there. The same thing happened a few other times in the game and Parise tried to get rid of the defenseman. One of the times, it resulted in a penalty. The college game is being changed like the NHL game, to give it more flow and to allow more goals. Parise, and every other goalie is going to have to figure out a way to adjust to this, and learn to focus on everything else that is happening on the ice. I don't like the rule either when it works against the Sioux, but I also hated having whistles blow everytime we were putting pressure on and someones skate went through the top of the crease, which had no direct affect on the play at hand.
  11. Good effort, but not enough in the tank. Gophers outskated the Sioux for the majority of the game, and that was pretty much the difference.
  12. Penalty on the Gophers. 6-4.
  13. Parise pulled.
  14. 1:17 left.
  15. 3:20 left. Let's go boys!
  16. Stafford has pretty much been absent from the ice tonight. He needs to step it up to the level he was at last weekend. We definitely need him to contribute.
  17. Gophers holding Zajac's jersey enough to prevent him from getting to the puck first.
  18. Gopher was all over Oshie, and they took them both off the ice. What a joke.
  19. Sioux giving the fans something to cheer about. Now the fans need to keep it up to keep the players going!
  20. Spirko with another chance where the puck got away from him!!!
  21. Gophers plain and simple outskatiing us right now.
  22. Gophers had a broken stick and we still couldn't clear the zone??? Then we got lucky on what should have probably been a tripping call. Need to turn it up Sioux!!!
  23. There's the pressure we need. Keep it up!!!!
