  1. thanks
  2. The forecheck on the Russian D in that Christmas Day win last year was very effective, caused numerous turnovers, and led to most of the US goals. The failure of the US high forward to come back into the US end, however, led to 3 on 2's for the Russians, and if Ovechkin or Malkin (or both) was on the ice, it usually ended up in the US net. Does anyone have an audio link for the CAnada/Finland game?
  3. It's on the schedule, says tape-delayed at 11 EST. Since that's the game start time, guess it's live.
  4. 769 directtv
  5. Anything yet? Game late because of the OT? Edit: Crowd noise is on now.
  6. Finland wins 1-0, looks like on a PP goal 10 minutes into OT. Shots 53-25 Sweden
  7. In the second period, Sweden has outshot Finland 20-6 but the game remains scoreless. Winner plays Canada in the semis.
  8. Tonight's games don't appear to be scheduled on either FSN or Center Ice. Looks like FSN will pick up the semis (would guess only if the US wins tonight) and the Gold Medal game (assume only if the US makes it there). The bronze medal game (If the US plays in it) apparently won't be televised. Looks like it's win or be taken off the air for something more entertaining like "the best damn sports show" (or whatever it's called). Not sure if Center Ice will pick up the medal games.
  9. I thought pre-madonna was the ss spelling, like "sudo" is. Someone should make a dictionary for this site
  10. US (#2 in their pool) will play a crossover game against the #3 team from the other pool. Canada gets a bye to the medal round semifinal. US gets into the medal round by winning the crossover game. Appears the US will meet either Sweden, Russia or the Czechs. Those 3 teams play the next games tonight. Russia is in the best position for the bye in their pool, which they will get by beating the Czechs tonight. Sweden has already beaten the Czechs, so if Russia beats the Czechs tonight and Sweden also wins, the US will face the Czechs in the quaterfinals. Best chance it will be, on Jan 2: US vs Czechs Finland or Swiss vs Sweden Winners go against Canada and Russia on the 3rd in the semis.
  11. I'll be surprised if Johnson doesn't get suspended, after review, for the next game. Major cheap shot. Canada played the entire third period with 3 men back at the blue line.
  12. Hoping the referee allows checking, as several of these games have sounded like women's hockey, probably with less allowed than in the women's game.
  13. On the TV schedule on the USA Hockey site, today's game vs Canada is listed as tape-delayed on FSN. On the front page, the story states it's live on FSN. Wonder which one is right? Edit: Would appear from the directtv schedule that it's delayed on FSN-MN (641), following the Wild/Canucks game. However, it's listed as live on the FSN-Wisco alternate (642).

Inuk, from the NWT (now called something else).
  15. The UAA series will NOT be on FSSN next weekend, as previously scheduled.
  16. 1989 4-3 over MN Second to Wisco in 1983 (in GF) and MSU in 1986
  17. Very few first period penalties. Players adjusted, or have the referees been critiqued?

    What a joke

What happened in that game last night?
  19. Unreal how they found a new gear after Harvard scored. How about the same effort from the opening faceoff. This isn't Canisius. Hak is PO'ed at the effort.
  20. What a list of penalties in the third. Looks like Norway's (Hoygard) received a triple minor plus a misconduct with 6 seconds left in the game, Grafsronnigan gets a double minor plus a misconduct, and Jensen a double minor and misconduct. Canada's Pyatt a double minor, and O'Marra a minor and misconduct. Most of the minors were roughing; must have been some kind of scrum. UFF-DA
  21. Your neighbors will need to have the T180 Dish package to get ESPNU for Friday night's game.
  22. Canada only up 1-0 vs Norway after one period, 14 minutes of penalty time for each team.
  23. No doubt that given all the father/son/brothers/relatives connections the Sioux have had in the program, it's obvious the first step in Sioux recruiting is reproduction. Also a tribute to the very strong ties past players have with the program.
  24. Impressive that Trupp is that far up the BCHL scoring list as rookie import. Most of the leading scorers in the BCHL have been/are in their second or third years in the BCHL. Trupp just turned 18, and is a year younger than all the other scoring leaders in the BCHL. If he spends next year in the BCHL, we could very well be following him at the top of the list.
  25. Oh, no, Trupp is from Anchorage. With the UAA series coming soon, Suze is not going to be a happy camper
