From the TV broadcast, the Sioux dressed Lamouriello and Sparkov last night. New recruits?
-
Looking at WCHA scores last night, who are the 4th and 5th place teams going to be? Could well be SCSU, UAA, Mankato, or even MTU. At any rate, there appears to be a large gap between 1-3 and 4-10. 4-10=ECAC or CHA. THe dollar signs in the eyes of the high draft picks ought to be disappearing soon. We may not lose anyone early, why would any pro organization want to sign anyone in green, based on last night's effort. Hard to tell on TV, but it appeared the Sioux were playing with just a goalie and one skater on the ice, as no more than one ever appeared near the puck, and noone (except a gopher) ever appeared on the screen at the other end of a Sioux pass. No forecheck, gophers had an unbelievable amount of room to operate. Brutal.

It is; I"ve already changed channels

No, that's Barrett Jackman (St. Louis), came up through major junior with the Regina Pats. Mankato's Tim Jackman has spent most of the year with San Antonia (AHL, with Matt Jones), and has played a handful of games with Phoenix.

No doubt it wasn't done to avoid taking penalties the first time around. The Sioux should not have to knock him down when he parks "in the crease" as he did at GF, that's the job of the referee. If he's allowed to park in the crease as before, it's a no win situation for the Sioux, allow him to totally disrupt the goaltender, or knock him down and sit in the box. If parking in the crease is legal this weekend, the Sioux need to do it also.

According to the UAA announcer, UAA's shots have been quality shots, while the Sioux's have been harmless. Assume the Oshie goal might be a quality chance
-
Don't believe UAA is showing live webcasts any longer.
-
Guess all of you in/near GF are listening to radio, rather than this horrible streaming audio.
-
Is the Sioux audio really noisy for anyone else?

Will never understand why two lines played the entire game against Norway. Did the US really need to score 11 in that game? Kyle obviously didn't trust all his players to take part in the tourney. The continued use of a limited number of forwards was likely the cause of the third period meltdowns throughout the tourney. And from the HF boards, a new reverse bias conspiracy. THe US' major junior players saw limited ice time because of a college player bias on the team. On another note, no Canadian player appears on the scoring leader board, and only one was in the top 10. When you give up just 6 goals in the tourney (5 of them PPGs) it's hard to lose.

Canada wins gold, and, with this young team, there will be no sandbagging next year, they will be heavily favored.
-
It's in the schedule for 10 PM Central. The usahockey site says the bronze medal game will be shown then, but the directtv schedule shows the gold medal game. Since only one Sioux player will return with a medal, I hope it's a gold.
-
Don't have much interest in watching this one tonight. Hope the directtv schedule is right and we get the Russia/Canada game.
-
Ryan scores, surprisingly. 1-0 US

http://www.team1040.ca/listen.php It's on the vancouver station above.
-
My on screen directtv schedule shows, "gold medal game/canada vs russia". Guess we'll have to wait until tonight to see what's on.
-
We're hoping St. Louis is not ready to pay him to step up to the AHL, or possibly the NHL club. Depending on who drafts the undrafted players, there may be several more freshmen gone after this season (and not just the Sioux freshmen). Certainly Parise's performance at the 04 WJC sealed his fate, he was gone to NJ after the season. Based on what I saw in the US/Russia game and from comments and online articles, I'd be afraid E. Johnson may go straight to the pros. He looks ready for at least the AHL.
-
That's what's is on my directtv schedule, a delayed broadcast of the gold medal game. Guess there is no TV interest in the US game since they are out of the gold medal game
-
The Russian must have felt like he stepped onto a busy freeway He looked a bit dazed on the bench after the contact. Didn't seem to even slow Oshie down, Russian went through between his legs, and Oshie continued on down the boards.

Even though this was announced as televised on FSN two days ago, it's not listed on usahockey, nor is is in my directtv schedule?

THe US forecheck was certainly effective on Christmas Day a year ago. Was missing in action last night, except for in the second period, and then done mostly by the 4th line. When individual players try to do it themselves on every rush and turn over the puck long before they get it in deep, there is no chance to get the forecheck going. I'd expect the Canadians to put much more pressure on the Russian defense than the US forwards did. Maybe the Russian D can handle it this year, certainly couldn't make much of a determination from last night. The Russians are good at turning an odd man rush, or other defensive mistakes, into goals. Toews for gold, I don't like the Russian antics when they have the game won. I"d guess the Vancouver crowd will turn ugly if the Russians have a late lead and start their taunting. Sounds like we'll get the bronze medal game on FSN tomorrow afternoon; sure wish they'd show the gold medal game also.

Seperate Bourque and Kessel. Forget the 5 goal/5 assist game vs. Norway. Bourque looks like he's trying to outshine Kessel by going on his own over and over again. Brutal (Bourque) at the point on the PP. Brutal (Bourque) in the US end. Canada is much better in their own end than the US was, and that may give them the edge they need against the Russians. If the Russians have a lead late in the game a bench clearing brawl could well end the tourney.

No wonder it takes so long between games. Everyone has to leave the building and come back in.

It's not listed on the Directtv schedule.
