Not sure what you're referring to here, but many Big Sky football games were broadcast in HD, FTA, on I believe the 123W satellite (not just Montana games). Didn't get them, since I didn't have an HD box, but others did. They may not have been ROOT telecasts, but something else?
-
True for the ROOT broadcasts, but not for the Midco Sports Net broadcasts (which includes all home hockey games not available on ROOT). I think Blackheart was commenting on the entire Midco package.
-
They would likely have to buy them from directtv, who owns the ROOT sports regionals (formerly Fox Sports Net regionals). Would guess UND insider would have to buy them as well, so I doubt it. The Big Sky broadcasts have been FTA, uplinked to satellite, and not encrypted yet last year, so they may be available.
-
From Midco, the following numbers of UND games will be on their sportsnet channel: * 20 men’s hockey games * 4 women’s hockey games * 1st round WCHA playoff game * 5 football games * 10 basketball games * 3 volleyball games Broadcasts will be uplinked to satellite, but don't know for sure if it will be FTA or encrypted.

Called Midco, sounds like theralph will still sell the web stream, other than that, they are out of the picture. Midco thought it unlikely that there will be any satellite uplink, and only midco and any other tv provider that buys their broadcast will get the games. Not sure if my local cable will continue to buy the midco broadcast (would guess they will if there is not a huge price increase), but I think any type of satellite broadcasts are out of the question (FTA, directtv, dishnetwork). I'll likely be buying the web stream, at least until my rural telco starts charging for data downloads by the megabyte, which they are likely to do soon. I wonder how the web stream will work when it's the only option for thousands of Sioux fans around the country?
-
No doubt they'll sell to whomever will buy, including the satellite networks, although I doubt dish or directtv will buy. Would cable in the TC buy? I don't think so. Cable where I live might, but I don't like the rest of what they offer, but may be stuck switching to cable if I want UND hockey.
-
FTA, not a chance. Fox Regionals buying broadcasts from Midco, I think no chance but have no idea. Other cable co's that paid the REA for broadcasts, maybe, better chance than the first two options.

Hope the FTA HD option exists with Big SKy's new deal with Root Sports. And yes, if midco encrypts and uplinks to satellite I'd pay for access. Would work with a card they could sell for the FTA boxes. I do get CBSSN via dishnetwork, but would watch FTA in HD if available again.
-
It would be nice with all the information on the new contracts, specifically the Midco and CBSSN contracts, if someone would mention how this affects the satellite uplink that's been there since the new arena opened.
-
Would guess getting Fox Sports and CBS Sports to play well together is a long shot at best.
-
A huge step backwards for UND sports. Suspect FTA and FCS may, just may, have one more year, but when the new conference and contract with CBSSports starts, all bets are off. Although, at least last year, CBSSports could be found FTA at times (maybe all the time?). Of course, that's just a couple games/year, as Midco now controls who gets what, and I'd be surprised if they allow FTA. I'm in North Dakota but out of the Midco footprint (as are most others outside ND), so no Sioux sports for us. All the fans in the Cities that go to Sensors will be out of luck as well.
-
Sounds like it's very close to putting the nail in the coffin for FTA coverage. And a much smaller geographical footprint for UND sports on TV.

I think Lammy got a stick on it and caused the crazy upward curve. Gaarder looked like a penalty live, but replay showed it definitely was not, either a dive or the Gopher leaning on his stick when Gaarder lifted it. Both teams going well, good game so far.
-
Yet NESN had the BU game on for everyone, including those outside their region
-
Interesting to see if we get the BU/Gopher game on NESN from outside that region. Neither MN nor MDU show up yet in my dish guide on alternate channels.
-
BU/MN will be on NESN, as well. Appears qwest in not an espn3 provider, so you won't get it to work.
-
Yes, it's on ALTUD, dish 410
-
Denver/Ferris will be live on ALTUD, Friday at 4:30

My Dish schedule shows the championship delayed on Sunday as well, starting at 10PM

You can check with Pete in the Cities; http://www.psbsatellite.com Don't see the motorized system package right now on his site, but I think it's around $250. Getting it initially mounted and pointed at your true south satellite is usually the most difficult part, but after that it's easy to run with your remote and receiver from your lazyboy.
-
Only one that shows up in a dish search is the championship, 9PM Thursday night on RTRM

Forgot that, but he is on their roster, and is sitting out this year.
