  1. The transfer portal is going to present a much different college sports landscape. There are several guys on the team who likely could play FBS, and play well at that level.
  2. Also had a huge fake punt for 1st down vs SDSU this spring. Was a momentum changer.
  3. Why do you think most throws are less than 20 yards horizontally and vertically? I know I am beating a dead horse, any throw further than that is a double move or a gadget play. It is what it is, but its pretty obvious when actually at the games. Hope Danny has a few more tricks up the sleeve.
  4. Danny obviously saw a couple of tendencies of MSU secondary on early downs and took full advantage on those two early TD passes. Once the script ended and MSU adjusted, it did not go as well.
  5. Believe me, I am in no way trying to rag on this team, nor anyone on it. This spring has been awesome as a hawks fan! I just can't imagine JMU doesn't see the same things I'm seeing. Play one high safety, tight coverage, and stack the box. I would make Tommy beat me deep or with his legs. The NDSU game was one of the more frustrating games I've ever attended.
  6. The drive chart was much the same vs NDSU. Tommy won't run the ball for whatever reason and we only throw the ball downfield on double moves and gadget plays. Good teams play tight coverage to take away the screen-o-rama and stack the box to stop Otis. This team is so close, I just don't see how we take the next step with this offense.
  7. So at 8:27 of the 2nd qtr we stopped trying to put points on the board? I know I'm on an island here, but after we went up 24-3 (35 yard drive) our offense was: 4 plays 31 yards, 1 first down - punt 3 plays 6 yards, 0 first downs - punt 3 plays 0 yards, 0 first downs - punt 4 plays 37 yards, 0 first downs - fumble 7 plays 26 yards, 2 first downs - punt 3 plays 6 yards, 0 first downs - punt 3 plays 6 yards, 0 first downs - punt
  8. Missouri state being dominated by our defense and us hitting a double move and gadget play early is hiding some offensive problems IMO. After we went up 24-3 Saturday(early 2nd qtr) we had 80 yards of offense(and little TOP) 'til the last drive. The last 2.8 qtrs of the game were @NDSU 2.0.
  9. From the little bit we have seen him in games and a few practice reports I have heard, Quincy IS a dynamic player, will it be for us or someone else? I would have put him in the game Saturday for the entire 4th qtr.
  10. I hope so, our offense needs a jolt. Has not been good at least the last 2 games.
  11. Exactly. A dual threat QB and otis and 15 completed pass a game and our offense is a natty offense. The 'million ways to throw a screen" offense works until the D sells out(last 3 qtrs MSU) or feels they have good enough athletes to run with our receivers(NDSU). No defense is good enough to be on the field for 35-40 minutes a game.
  12. Tommy is a very good game manager and his play will likely never cost us a game, but tell me how many championships Bison win without a QB who is a threat with their legs too?
  13. Both were decent throws to guys who were wide, wide open. Belquist made an adjustment to the ball, and maag slowed down considerably. We had 35 yard drive to go up 24-3 early in 2nd quarter. After that point We had 80 yards of offense until the last drive. We need to prepare for tight coverage and a stacked box at JMU. The “million way to throw a swing pass” offense doesn’t work against tight coverage as we found out in Fargo.
  14. Neither of those throws were great throws, both receivers were open by 10 yards.
  15. No doubt about it. My analysis does assume Quincy can make 15 yard throws. I know he is a major threat to run, which was evidenced by the play calling yesterday and all season when Quincy is QB. UND is close, really close.
  16. Watch yesterday’s game again, there is no “pocket presence”. Almost every throw goes to the main target or he throws it away. Danny structures the motion etc so very little of UND passing offense is a true “5 step drop pocket“. 90% of Tommy completions are not ling throws nor “tough” throws. Neither of the early long throws were great throws. He really struggles going deep. I agree with NDSU game early, but UND was finding itself and then the biggest play in game was Zeb a throw to Watson before half . Tommy does not have arm strength nor confidence to even attempt that throw. my main point is I would think any D1 qb could make 90% of Tommy completions this season. IMO Quincy and Otis with read option would make UND the favorite today.
  17. Look at the drive chart. After 1st qtr it’s pathetic. It’s why the offense other than Otis long run struggled in Fargo. If a defense is skilled enough to go man to man and our defense can’t control the game we will be in trouble. Don’t get me wrong, Tommy is a winner and a great game manager. This edition of the Hawks is close to a natty. Multi dimensional QB could be the difference.
  18. And when James Madison comes out with 10 guys within 5 yards of LOS(like NDSU) and our defense can't manhandle the other team, what do we do then? Lose 34-13? Once MSU adjusted the offense was almost non-existent for the last 3 qtrs.
  19. Quincy running threat just led to that TD run by Mitchell.
  20. James Madison will stack the box and dare us to throw it deep.
  21. It’s the offense without Otis. Zippo since early In 2nd qtr.
  22. He’ll probably transfer to the Ag college and be drafted in 2 years and we will still be throwing 5 yard passes. ill take heat for this but in the last 2 games Tommy has completed one tough throw and is not a threat to run
