3 years of eligibility remaining. Similar to the first offer. Would really like to see some Grad Transfer offers, initial two offers seem more depth / not initial contributors next year.
-
Early signing day is in 10 days. Let’s see some offers!
-
Best friend Brad.
-
17 was generous. FCS gonna FCS, NDSU going to cake walk to Frisco, again.
-
Won’t be close. NDSU by 17.
-
I’d be happy w/ one OL / WR. Not sure how I feel about a RB. Happy with 20, 28, 29. Do agree you could always use a solid 4th. Not sure if you’d upset the current RB room though.
-
Switch James & HJ in the lineup too. HJ is not a Top 6 guy. He had a great start, deserved to get a chance, but it’s becoming clear he’s just not a Top 6 guy. Don’t want another Schmaltz situation.

100%. @geaux_sioux laid it out. 3 OLB, 2/3S, 2 DE, 1NG from the portal. Defensively they need more talent. As things stand right now, this team won’t make the playoffs. What’s my worry? OLB was not good two seasons ago. No portal additions. UND’s OLB might have been the worst positional group in the entire FCS last year. So crazy to me that they thought that group was fine to go into a season with. Worry is that will happen again. The positions of need are so obvious, maybe just not to the Coaches.

Pretty quiet out there. What are we thinking the strategy is? Trying to get targets on campus this weekend and offering at that time? Start offers early next week and try to get them on campus next weekend? 20th is coming soon and there are some major needs that need to be filled via the portal.

Let's see if today is the day!
-
Along with that, a player who is buried on the depth chart and just wants playing time.
-
Four reasons - "Mutual" decision between parties. Thank you, but we need to either improve our situation at this position, or we have others that need more playing time. I put mutual in quotes, because these situations would be dictated by the program

Guilty. Happened to me two years ago as well. Ultimately, here's my thought, a school like UND absolutely cannot sustain big hits to the portal. Easy to overreact when it seems like there's no end in sight. Feels like we're close to being out of the weeds for those entering. If the numbers stay at what it is, I'll call this year's exits a mild success.

Some guys the coaching staff are following on X that are intriguing to me. Jonathan Bunce (OLB) - St. Thomas Jordan Knapke (SS/OLB) - UNC Khai West (DB) - Mankato Owen Goss (DB) - Colgate Jimmy Buck (WR) - St. John's Let's get some of those guys offers!
-
Interesting first offer. True Sophomore. More developmental than plug and play type of guy?
-
I took it as being more aggressive in the passing game.
-
Not a bad thing! Let’s see where things are by Thursday. I would think if you were to enter, it would be by then.
-
Take a look at who the Coaches are following on social media, and you'll see many potential targets. Things need to move quickly no doubt. My best guess is Monday - Wednesday they'll see who enters as well as vet. Offers start on Thursday.

The new Angels rink will be part of this. Fargo Parks Sports Center | Fargo Parks

The Alston award (701 award) works essentially the same as a NIL collective. To say that UND is sitting around doing nothing is patently false. How much do some schools NIL funds have? Seems like we're really talking semantics here. What UND cannot do is pay an individual athlete big $. I would argue trying to do that is not sustainable anyways.
-
I would say both. Logically, if you were going to enter the transfer portal, you'd gain nothing by waiting. That being said, just like with the Grad transfers, they seem to trickle in throughout the week. Side note: Interested in Ocansey. He was just a sophomore this year (Junior school wise). I wouldn't think there would be anything stopping someone from announcing they are going to enter before they technically could. He announces last week, but his name isn't officially entered until today.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
AJS replied to AlphaMikeFoxtrot's topic in Men's Hockey
I would have agreed before last night. Not a bad way to break up a win streak (1 pt & 33% of a pairwise point). Think that refocuses them, when otherwise they might have been flying too high. -
Back to UND. Anybody else find it odd that we haven’t heard any of the “Covid extra year” guys say they are coming back? I’m starting to doubt Bo coming back. You just think we would have heard by now if he was.
