  1. Like that part. Not sure how they release the conclusion. The gathering of thoughts and desires is supposedly being done by text?
  2. Very well said, in the beginning UND and USD knew of the cost ramifications and therefore weren't interested in the initial move. And there are many more costs that came along that most people don't even come close to realize. The SU's like to say it was the scare of the NCC of not having enough FB scholarships. Here's where the drive was from within as explained to me in the early years of Div I by a cousin of mine, who was a county extension agent. And this is what the two schools sold their alumni on. We are loosing our great professors and sraff to Div I schools because if your Div I, everyone gets a much bigger salary. Sure, we are going to pay our coaches much more also, in fact everyone in the academics, we will be that much better a institution. We SU's really need this or we will end up with the not so desired staff. And wait, this will also help to raise salaries in the whole state with people in county extension offices, all employees of the SU's, and so on.
  3. UND is working extremely hard with alumni and friends to help us through these financial challenges ahead. Most of that energy isn't directly about sports, but many times sports at UND are somehow in that equation of conversation, and that is an immeasurable asset.
  4. What usually follows rebuilding a FB team, rebuilding your fan base. Summit sports included. We had some lean years in the transition of Div I. Just spoke with friends and we will be making road games, have done so in the Div II days. Only one in the group went to a Montana game. I remember your comments about our attendance at FB games last season, and I'm hoping for better attendance myself. What I sense happening, is, in a few years there will be comments on here, that the Hawk's Nest isn't big enough, which was probably going to happen even if we stayed in the Big Sky, because our fan base already started the rebuilding process.
  5. This move is about location, location, location.
  6. We're playing FB in Fargo in 2019 and the first conference game in 2020 could likely will be in the Hawk's Nest. That a be great day and by then we may be favorites!
  7. Correct, I was at the MBB game, there were comMents on here about why the FB score wasn't announced at the BB game.
  8. I like that, so why not we get ourselves one of those conference championship flags at our first opportunity.
  9. The biggest negative was UND is a midwestern U and the Big Sky is western U's.
  10. Won't be that way when NDSU and UND are in the same conference!!!!!
  11. Not sure how to absorb this yet, intial feeling is good. I get to go to road games again to see the Bison and 2 SD's, I like the SD's presidents in that they work at their alma matar. Seemed like we were figuring out our recruiting, and wonder if that will change. Bison lucked out on their 2019 home OOC FB game, we'll get even with them for that. Baseball coming back??????? Good to be seeing you 3 again!
  12. UND is 6-3-1 record wise not playing in The Ralph.
  13. The great great majority of this U's cuts woun't be in the athelethic department. There are way too many $ that have to be cut. Worse case for sports would be to cut some to have them break even, but that may not be the best plan? What you never see on the income/cost spreadsheets of sports is what influence sports have to enhance alumni and fans to donate to the U's general fund. College sports help keep Alumni and fans connected to the U. Maybe there is a minimum of adjustment in the sports porgram this go around, but ADept. will still be in a defict becuase of this value, and therefore to some it is not really in a deficit. There are so many ways numbers can be sckued within the U. Also, this budget reduction go around may not be the last one. Another facet of the equation; UND is working very hard reaching out to Alumni, Fans, and support groups to financially help the U in general.
  14. Don't know the answer to your ?, but do know the state of SD does something right: Presidents James Abbott of USD and Barry Dunn of SDSU are both presidents of each of their alma mater.
  15. Unless Pres. Trump steals the ink on the front pages of newspapers in ND, the ND legislative budget actions will get the most print on the front pages for the start of this year. The swing in the financial support ND higher education received and may receive from the legislature is huge, here's what I gathered from articles in GF Herald this weekend: 2011-13 $657.8 M 2013-15 $910.6 M 2015-17 $837.8 M (after cuts, which ends June 30) 2017-19 $649.9 M (Dalrymple budget) $618.9 M (Burgum budget) HE in ND has some very serious challenges. And, so does the rest of the state government agencies.
  16. Ralph bulit a home to house MH and for UND to start up WH and have them both play in The Ralph till 2031, then UND gets the Palace. Till then we play hockey.
  17. We just need to get into the National Tournament, which would mean us in Fargo. We are one of the best teams not playing at home this year. Could be craszy!
  18. That's pretty good, works on a day like today! I'll add to my last comments, UND also played great defense and dominated the boards.
  19. What a steal to watch that game last night for $15 and sit right behind the visitors bench. Weber coach was really going after the refs, they showed signs of a great team. We really hustled and moved with speed on the fast breaks; and therefore, a lot of plays that in the past were forced shots or passes, yesterday were outstanding plays. A really fast paste exciting game. There was a point in the second half were the crowd got into it in a way that hasn't happened like that for many years. The FB players were pretty organized in their great support. What a show and what a finish from the BB players for the fans to remember! This game is what GF is talking about today, opps, a new President is getting inaugurated today. Thanks MBB.
  20. Last seen Chris Kuper in Denver when my son and I were there for the Frozen Four, he was still with the Broncos then. Good friend of my son's, we had a great visit.
  21. Agree with a lot of offensive fouls, that can be a by product of a fast paste game. The first few minutes of the game kind of set the tone, there was a lot of fast pace up and down the court although with just a few points scored. There would be spurts of fast breaks. Also, some nice shots made. The last couple minutes of the 1st half, they beat us on a fast up and down the court run. Some nice shots made in second half by both teams again. A lot of fast breaks going both ways, we pushed up and down the court a little more and had some bad passes with that, but also had some terrific runs. Lead changed a few times. They had a 9 point lead, we had a 7 point lead, then at 5 minutes they go ahead by 1, exciting. We happened to lead the last two minutes, shot a lot of free throws and made them. The crowd ate it all up. Hopefully this transitions into a winning mentality going through the rest of the conference games? Football players were an asset, and just hilarious! The crowd was definitely and advantage for our team.
  22. That could happen, but I think it wouldn't happen here. When we opened The Raplh in 2001, we played the goofs in the 1st game in the season and is was a OOC game. We were both in the WCHA.
