  1. F'waks lovers - WAHHHH people don't love the new nickname, and the hockey teams aren't wearing it, they must all hate UND sports and UND, traitors TRAITORS!!!!! Siouxforver people - Those stupid F'wacks people at just a bunch of libtard safe space loving idiots, once we get rid of them we can sue the NCAA and bring back the Nickname. The majority of fans- I don't care, its a crappy name and crappy logo but I still back my team, just don't expect me to shell out $150 for a jersey I don't like.
  2. the one exception to the rule.
  3. Much as I hate to say it I have to go with UMD, I despise the Big Ten Conference, the only way I would ever cheer for a big ten team is if they were Playing Boston College or Boston University .... or any team from Mass-hole land.
  4. Actually, I personally would not let my kid sit on a mall Santa's lap, why would I pay to get a photo of my kids taken with some stranger. The whole Idea seems stupid not to mention creepy. But then again I have no intention of lying to my kids about Santa Clause either the same for the easter bunny or the tooth fairy.
  5. I didn't even get the idea as a kid. I was mostly just creeped out by some guy in a costume. And frankly, in the world, we live in today, I want to meet the parent who likes the Idea of a stranger in a fursuit running up to there kid, seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
  6. Personally, I would. I despise Nordy when they added him I was annoyed. If you were talking about the guy in the foam Viking suit then he just looks dumb, if you want something gets some guys dressed in actual Viking armor. I don't understand how a cartoony bear relates to the Twins, and honestly, I could care less about basketball, I find it only slightly less boring than soccer.
  7. Has Fan participation been an issue at UND? Since when? Sports with lower attendance have more to do with poor performance by the team rather than lack of a guy, girl or gender nonconforming Gender studies major running around the stands acting like a moron.
  8. From weak and dysfunctional leadership? Sure. From an overabundance of SJW snowflake students and the neo-Marxist professors that help to create them? Again I would agree with you. From a state legislature that keeps slashing the schools budget, again I would say yes. But From and not having some idiot in a fursuit running around making parents uncomfortable as their kid hugs some stranger in an animal costume? No, a lack of a costumed mascot has zero to do with the problems at UND.
  9. This guy said he was willing to be the mascot... but he has to stay 500 feet away from children. But hey the students all seem to think UND needs a furry running around at the games, we managed to do okay with one for the last 20+ years but whatever I guess.
  10. I'm not sure what you mean by hockey only fans, yes a large percentage of UND's fan base is primarily interested in Men's Hockey, but I think you are over exaggerating that into a "all the other sports can go f@ck themselves mentality, when its more of a lack of knowledge on the issue. granted this whole thread is moot because the nickname was changed a new logo was put in place, and we can certainly argue about whether the new branding and nickname is good or bad the Fighting Sioux Nickname is Retired and will not be coming back.
  11. Gross generalizations aside, Yes I think just about everyone would agree that we dodged a big bullet with what happened with the DAPL, and we are making progress, we have moved on from want are old nickname and logo back, to Hating the new nickname, to hating the new logo and now to hating the prospect of a new mascot, progress!
  12. Yea but as we all know that was done with a gun to the head of UND sports, Drop the nickname or sanctions.
  13. Much as I hate to admit it there is no way the Fighting Sioux nickname will ever come back officially outside of the Dakota legacy collection. Though Chinese bootlegs are still readily available if you are desperate for Fighting Sioux Gear and really unwilling to wear PC the Postal Hawk. We can talk till the cows come home about how the NCAA should apply the rules fairly to all schools regardless of size or status but we both know that is a pipe dream given how corrupt the NCAA is and that its primary concern is making money, it will always treat the larger wealthier institutions better than the smaller ones that bring in less money.
  14. So I back on the topic of hockey, I wonder if anyone has looked at Eastern Washington. They have acha club teams and a Team the competes in British Columbia Inter-College Hockey Leauge, along with Simon Fraiser, While it doesn't look like the offer full rides, they do offer partial scholarships. I know Simon Fraser has been discussed, but Eastern Washington has on-campus facilities already that could work for practice and training, and the Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane is a good facility with seating for 10,000 and already hosts the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL, Eastern Washington could easily become a secondary tenant to the building. They could be a good school to help Push the University of Washington or Boise state into upgrading their club programs.
  15. I just hope to god you got it dry cleaned afterward....
  16. You would let your kids interact with a guy in a costume... not a good idea, just wait until they accidentally run into a furry and think he's a mascot.
  17. Since when have UND fans needed an idiot dressed in a cartoon costume to get them to cheer on there team? But if they do end up making yet another mistake in this botched Odessy of rebranding then I humbly suggest that we name the new mascot "Postal the PC hawk", zer can be gender non conforming, queer, and disabled. The liberal news outlets will praise it for a week until they realize that the whole thing is a big joke.
  18. I honestly don't think ASU will join the NCHC, having a legit facility was one of the big issues, but I think the lack of quality coaching was another sticking point for the NCHC, if ASU wants in the current staff will need to be replaced with more experienced personnel. Now IF UNLV manages to go D-1 and get a good staff together right away they have a better shot at getting in as the Old Las Vegas Wranglers(ECHL) arena is about 5 mins from campus and its only been few years since the team folded, a small renovation and it could easily become the home of rebel hockey, and to top it off maybe they could get Gwozdecky to coach, I mean that's pretty tempting offer "Hey how'd you like to coach a New D-1 team in Las Vegas?" - also, there had better be $5 lobster rolls at the arena. But the more realistic bet is on Minnesota State University, they applied and have the desire to commit. Bowling Green would be a better option in terms of placating WMU and Miami but I don't think BGSU is really that interested, NCHC would mean more trips to Minnesota than they already take, and they would have to get in a plane more often than they already do but with no travel stipend money. And actually, after doing a little research I can say that if expansion was UNLV and ASU I would have a hard time seeing a scenario were Miami and WMU don't move, at least from a travel cost perspective. These schools are already pretty stretched as far as travel goes and adding two more plane trips might be the straw that breaks the camels back. Even with a 2 million dollar buyout, these schools might take the shot in the foot to save on the long-term travel expenses.
  19. Okay I would be okay with this, only if they can get Michael Keaton be the mascot.
  20. Unless they also replace the amateur coaching staff I say steer clear.
  21. Still, you are counting on - WMU and Miami Leaving the NCHC.. and with a 2 mil buyout I don't see that happening. And then you are counting on two other schools adding one of if not the most expensive start up sport in college sports. I could happen but it will take years. Or, Three teams from atlantic Hockey defecting to join a Conferance in Michigan. First if you get Those three to join, then it isn't really the CCHA, the purpose of the CCHA was to put all the michigan teams and the few from ohio and Indiana in the same leauge to reduce travel costs and foster rivialries with local opponents. They aren't saving any money andtravel costs and they are getting an even more underpowered leauge. You're also basing this all on an article from a few years ago, which I haven't seen but its very likely that few things have changed since then. More likely that you will see both the NCHC and WCHA try to compete to add Oakland if they join. the WCHA is convinced that rapid expansion is the best anwser, I don't agree as I think the leauge would have been better off staying at nine teams and not add UAH. But the WCHA still has a dream of creating two divisions if they get up twelve or more teams so we would probably see them try to do that and make another offer to ASU. THe NCHC would want them to appease WMU and Miami, and then try to poach another team off the WCHA or if ASU has gotten it's act together try to add ASU.
