  1. I agree with a lot of what has been said about the reasons for Red Rivers football struggles, and I have seen them first hand. The parents of many players are a lot of the problem. As the team was coming off the field after a loss to Devils Lake I watched a parent basically try to attack Paul Peterson. His son played on the Oline and he felt his son should be starting on defense as well. The guy was lucky his kid played at all considering how bad his son was. I doubt the kid would have started for any other team in the state The other problem is that people with money tend to also have a big ego, and also want power and end up having to much say or influence over the higher ups in relation to athletics. The players are the other major problem because Red River does have some good athletes that choose not to play football because of influence from other coaches (hockey comes to mind first) and to a lesser extent parents. Ryan Potulney started at QB for Red River as a sophmore, only because he wanted to play football, his other coaches outside of football and to my knowledge his father didn't want him playing football and try to convince him not to play. Most of the kids at Red River are not like that, some kids worked hard but most did not. It is very hard for a coach to motivate a player if they really don't care if they win or lose, mommy and daddy are still going to treat these kids the same way win or lose (new car to drive, money to go out, sometimes very little or no supervision). Life is good and a football game or season isn't going to put a dent in that. I see the same thing to a lesser extent in the area where I work now, except here the kids have a lot more maney than anything you see in Grand Forks. Most of the kids don't care because the mansion with the Jag, BMW, and Mercedes is still their win or lose. Sports and hard just are not important to kids like that. There is alway exceptions to the rule, but these tend to be just a few exceptions. To turn around the Red River football program, it will take a lot more than being a good football coach and motivating kids.
  2. If someone sets it up, I would play.
  3. Good, because the NCAA is the jerk in this entire situation.
  4. Is this your get rich quick scheme.
  5. Wow, that article really makes the NDSU AD and coaches look bad.
  6. I was not able to watch the game last night, but I wouldn't worry about John getting some game reps just yet. Their are different ways to do things and he might end up with a bunch of playing time during one game (which I think is a better way to handle it). If he comes into a game and gets 4 or 5 snaps it will not give a very accurate picture of what he can or cannot do. Besides, Hill threw one Touch and one Pick while only going 8/20. Hill might actually play himself out of a roster spot.
  7. That first dude is huge, but the crowd sure isn't. The other thing is don't those people all look old? (I mean in comparison to the average college student) Seriously, where are the college students and in particular the NA college students?
  8. That sounds like a sociology professor I had in college.
  9. Bush dodges question, as do all politicians. He dodges when he doesn't have an answer (which is a lot) but I am not sure GW can tell if the answer he has is favorable for his situation of not. Clinton was a master at speaking, never answering the actual questions. I think thats why he gets so much action.
  10. I think this is probably the biggest problem our government has, just tack this onto the bill and you got my vote.
  11. I agree with you as well, but I am just getting sick of this $#*&. If the name has to be dropped UND is going to have to come up money for a new hockey arena, this is assuming that the Ralph can no longer be used.
  12. I think somebody has mentioned this but if this stands, why wouldn't UND just officially drop the nickname and just go by North Dakota. UND could still unofficially be the Fighting Sioux, somebody could sell unofficial/official fighting sioux merchandise and have all procedes donated back to UND athletics. The name could still live on with Alumni and fans. These left wing nut jobs would still be pissed off, but they couldn't do anything about it. I wouldn't disagree with cutting most of the funding for the NA programs at UND and putting that money into something more useful as well. It isn't very nice, but I guess at this point having the people in the minority pushing this on the University has bothered me to the point that I don't really care.

Does anyone have the video clip or a link to the clip of Jim Kleinsasser catching a slant against the Bison in the Fargodome. I know at one point the play was on a website several years ago, but I can't find it.
  16. But what led you to learn or want to learn about the Sioux people? Something must have peaked your interest, I have an idea but certainly can't speak for your motivation.
  17. So thats what it's like to be an indian? That can't be very accurate, if that was the case I would think almost everyone can claim they know what it's like to be an indian.
  18. I do believe in a democracy, but I don't have illusions about what almost all of these politicians really are. I am not saying what a politician does always is or is not bad. The problems is that you can't not prove intentions or if they are truely representing the people they are supposed too.
