  1. Oh my Ra, this needs to be cross posted and go viral . . . best idea for a fighting hawks logo possible. If they roll with a Ra inspired fighting hawk, they can take all my money and we will replace the greatest logo in sports with the next greatest logo in sports. This would honestly save the entire debacle for me (short of keeping the nickname, rolling as just North Dakota, this is the best possible solution).
  2. I told my friends that if the Sioux won, I would not care about the next year or so or any of my other sports teams for a season. Vikings missed a field goal . . . don't care. Blue Jackets crapped the bed, don't care. Didn't get as big of a raise as I wanted, no big deal!
  3. I would love to see Bowling Green. puts them close to Miami (I would like to see them get a close rival) and not soooooooo far from Western Michigan. Haven't been there in a few years, but it was a fun little arena too.
  4. If you want a show, you go to Cleveland. I have been to a Monsters game and (unfortunately) a Cavs game because the Blue Jackets gave me free tickets. Their projection is insane, similar to Tampas but I don't think Tampas was 3D . . . or was it?
  5. As terrible of a moniker is for "Title Town", "the State of Hockey", "whatever they were calling Boston recently", etc . . . I started referring to Grand Forks as Victory Village.
  6. I don't know, I didn't even ever hear about the place and never went. I love Suite 49 when that was there, but not a good location except for game days and I think that type of restaurant was a little too soon for Grand Forks' Marilyn Hagerty tastes.
  7. I didn't mean about viewership or revenue . . . I mean pride and reverance. I would be a lot more proud to be a top 8 hockey team in a tournament with all the best teams than a top 30 football team that may (or may not) have even played a top team from one of the top conferences. The Pac12 has to be the what (I don't follow too closely) 3rd or 4th best conference and they are coming in around third place in a good year. then 8-5, then 6-7, then 6-6, then 4-8, then 5-7
  8. Our ideas of major bowls may differ. The Ag school would have had a chance of beating them the last five years and probably would have at least once. Though being consistently in the top three of the PAC12 is nothing to scoff at, there are a heap of teams on top of the mountain that they will never top. Some years, they are maybe squeaking in the top 20. Even if they are considered major bowls, I think winning a game or two in the national hockey tournament would look really good stacked up to the Holiday/Cactus/Sun/etc Bowl
  9. If they put a bridge from 32nd Ave S to 190th St SW, I would be dancin' Nancies. Not as good, but even 47th to 200 would work if you wanted to diffuse some traffic from 32nd.
  10. That sounds like a good time. Sioux-Gophers Friday night, United FC NASL championship semifinal game on Saturday, Vikings game Sunday afternoon, Sioux-Gophers Sunday night. Add in some Hola Arepa and you have yourself a weekend.
  11. Haha, well, I am glad that we got that settled!
  12. I'm not arguing with everyone? I was just saying that you can't get a completely clear assessment of value based solely on attendance (or solely on price for that matter, they work hand in hand to some degree). But yeah, obviously they don't want them competing. They want to sell out both and probably are thinking about logistics a little too.
  13. Ah yes, but what are the prices of the tickets going to be for the hockey game v the football game.
  14. I think ASU is too easy to get to for UND and Denver to turn down, plus add in the bigger name. Hockey may not be number one at ASU, but with Arizona's attempts to really hold on to the 'yotes and hockey growing in Arizona (especially due to northern alumni) I think it does make sense. I also don't think it is unreasonable to think that ASU could make the NCAA hockey tournament in several years, even in the NCHC. And let's be honest, they are never sniffing the FBS playoff and major bowl games are doubtful. The basketball team would be lucky to crack the sweet 16, even their baseball team has fallen off. They WANT hockey to succeed. As for adding other schools, we need to get Bowling Green or somebody for Miami since I don't see Ohio University or the Bearcats going D1 anytime soon. Another Michiganish team would be nice for WMU. I'm open for discussion on the fourth team or waiting to see who adds in the next couple years.
  15. If I was in his shoes and he had a good offer, I would have signed. Being undrafted, even a small drop-off next year could hurt.
  16. I barely noticed Jost vs USA. The Finn though, he looked unreal. Hopefully the Blue Jackets get him!
  17. Shoot sorry! You beat me. But as I was saying; Move over Frisco, Fergs in Tampa had a record day . . . doubling NHL playoff games in a major city.v
  18. Move over Frisco, Fergs in Tampa had a record day . . . doubling NHL playoff games in a major city. as per Schloss's article in the Herald.
  19. They have three to five top picks. We have two top picks that have proven themselves and one more that should be alright. Fresh D is a steeper curve, so I think we got the advantage if schmaltz and Ladue come back. If they don't, itsq a coin flip but we will be battle tested come tourney time while they've been feasting on (mostly) cupcakes. Ooooh and LJ!
  20. I am about on this boat. I don't fault Hak or hold anything against him and do not think he ever really "choked." All the stars just didn't quite align but only an epic talent can do what he was able to do over the course of his career. That being said, I thought it was about time for a change but couldn't find it in myself to say Hakstol should be fired. In my mind, the change was the most graceful exit that could have ever happened. He wasn't fired, he got to move on (and up even), and we got the little change in pace that we needed (and all the haters cried for). I was so happy that we got to move on without firing Hakstol and I am happy that we won while his fingerprints were still all over the team. Absolutely perfect.
  21. Exactly, that is the very opposite of playing an ineffective dump and chase game . . .
  22. What? At the very least, I would say that we did completely outplay Michigan and Hunwick won them the game. The other arguments I can see both sides.
  23. IMO, NCHC had 3 best teams in the country St Cloud, Denver, UND So Barn had an opinion, the difference with Goon was that his opinion was "humble" . . . ?
  24. Maybe he chose Utah over school? $600 a week to play hockey, if you get housing and a per diem for travel is . . . . not a bad life until you work your way up. Make it to the A and you have yourself a living.
