Their speed is factor as well. I’ve said it before but the OL is overrated too. They should be able to push these guys. Zero push. Tarleton a last game the opponent ran for nearly 300 yards -

The way it’s going the D could be worn out very soon. Chasing the sooner WR transfers will wear out the secondary -

Why didn’t they try Simon to start again?? Was it because Jerry has been on fire the last month and half ? -

So coinciding with tougher competition should equal 180 degree flip on results? I could see a possible downgrade a game or two but not to the point we have seen. Very unfortunate. 22 tds 2 INTs in 8 straight games vs the “weaker” teams and 4 tds 8 INTs against the “tougher” teams in five straight games Of course there’s a lot at play when it comes to offensive production. OC, talent, competition, schemes, preparation ….etc. but having watched kaminski that last month…I would say the competition is possibly 25% of the issue as other qbs have faired better than him against those exact same teams. To me …his throwing motion/ mechanism seems to be a bit funky. He zeros in a one wr, doesn’t go through his reads, too eager to get out and run. Very jumpy and rushed in a messy way. Nervous Nelly feel. Of course the OC play calling hasn’t helped either. Overall tho …I feel the majority of the issue is in his head (over thinking, confidence, personal issue ?) or possible injury? What’s not in question is his talent. Athletically speaking…he has d1 talent and measurables Not to say it would the fix …but how in the hell can an offense eliminate their TEs completely!? When the offense was moving the ball early on…. they got everyone involved …namely the TEs. So frustrating to see no involvement from that group. I feel this would be major upgrade and possible success for the offense if they actually included the TEs in the game plan? -

I’m going back and forth if Simon would be a better start than Kamamski even if Jerry was healthy? Jerry has been brutal the last month or more. Simon has experience and is mobile enough to escape. Has the smarts and is extremely liked by his teammates . Jerry looks rushed or timid….almost panicky recently . Quite possibly injured? Overall …I would prefer to have the first 8 games Jerry but we haven’t seen him comfortable in a long time. The team seemed to unite and gel last Saturday with Simon in. Could be many factors why that happened….however they outscored Tech 21-0 with Simon. Tarleton doesn’t know who’s starting so there could be a wide range of game planning. Plus ..und gets Fleming back….that would be a huge upgrade as well. Fleming, Deng at wr Z, sawyer, Brunell, Langama at rbs Go Sioux ! -

Tarleton will be a great test. Offensively they have multiple weapons. They use two qbs, three RBs, four WRs and one TE. The starting qb looks to be a good passer but doesn't like to run. The backup qb is big ..6’5” 230. Decent numbers. The starting rb is an absolute burner. Backing him up is a qb/rb. Very shifty and athletic very similar to Jericho McKinnon in his build and game. I assume he’s more rb than qb as he hasn’t thrown a pass. Two of the three starting WRs are Oklahoma sooner transfers . The one is a four star and was the 6th best wr in the class. Speed speed speed. Four guys average over 17 yards/ catch so they like to go deep. The TE has 10 catches 6 tds. He is their red zone factor. The OL is big and experienced. Not sure that will affect Und as they are used to big OL playing in the Mvfc. The D is all over the place with fronts. The last three games they have started a 3-5-3, 4-4-3 and 5-2-3. They are absolutely massive on the DL. When they go 3 man …6’3” 290, 6’4” 315 and 6’4” 285 Oregon st transfer. They will substitute in 6’1” 295, 6’4” 265 and 6’3” 265 (leads team with 9.5 sacks). Being big doesn’t guarantee of being good but they seem to have held their own this season. It’s their LB that looks to be their bread and butter tho. Six of the top 8 tacklers for Tarleton are LBs . There are two smaller LBs look to drop back often and help the secondary. Passing, by way of stats, looks to be very difficult against Tarleton as the LB assist and assist very well. They go six deep and combine some big size with speed. 6’4” 240 (8 sacks) 6’2” 230 6’0” 220 (speed, 3 INTs) 6’2” 235 6’2” 225 and 6’2” 190 (speed) Their two cbs are very slim but again speedy. Both 5’11” 175 ( 5 INTs for the left comer ) The safety is 6’4” 195. Tarleton has a lot of players with quality playing time. I would guess thats due to the fact they were blowing people out. Tarleton is winning on an ave 45-18. They have experience at every level. This will be a tough game. Tarleton is rested and ready. They have size, speed and experience. Can’t wait. Go Sioux! -
Schmittys first year and he gets Unds first D1 playoff win ( sorry don’t count the covid year playoff win). An absolute defensive master piece! Coaching clearly makes a difference. Und had one of the worst Ds in the fcs only one year ago. Now they have, imo, the best D in the fcs. Will not speak on the offense. Congrats Coach!
-
Unds defense can beat anyone. One of the best in the nation The offense is so bad. Can’t speak on it anymore. Opponents wont be turning it over 5 times. That’s means at some point the team has to rely on the offense. 😳😟 great win and great job D!!!!! Way to show up !
-
Another missed FG coming up ?
-
Honest question. Is unds offense the worst in the fcs ? If not what other team/s are ?
-
Unds OL is extremely overrated as well. Just nothing
-
Yeah I feel this could get ugly. UNDs offense went on vacation a month and hasn’t returned. Being it’s the ultimate team sport ….und can’t win with D only
-
He’s insane 3 rush TDS today 2 passing tds today 3100 pass yards 25 tds 3 int 1411 rush yards 27 tds
-
Tech will eventually score. How much no clue. But Unds offense is just inept. Feel bad for the D. Great game so far by the D.
-
I can’t watch this anymore. Unds offense is just embarrassing.
