I was up for both games this weekend and thought both the Holy Cross score and the photo of the womens hockey player in the penalty box where priceless. This is coming from a lifetime season tickets holder for the Gophers. I also agree with those who say the PA announcer should be able to things like this. It makes the games fun and gets the crowd going. His job is not to make 18-23 year old feel good about themselves. As long as he isn't yelling to kill the opponent or their fans what is it hurting??? If anyone took offense to anything he said this weekend they really need to step back and take a long look at themselves. That being said don't be surprised if it comes out that our gutless AD was somehow offended by it! On a side note, it was a great weekend all around. I sat in two different section this weekends and the fans in both where great. Thanks to the UND fans for a fun weekend. Can't wait to be back next year.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to trade Gophers vs Sioux tickets for this upcoming season. I am a season ticket holder for the gophers and would be willing to trade either my Friday or saturday night tickets at Mariucci for Friday night seats at the ralph. Both sides are taking this whole thing a bit far. Siouxtopia hit on the head with the wheeler goal, Wheeler had no idea he even had a shot to score and it looked like he was just reacting to the play. The Irmen and Kessel's goals last year where premeditated and a bit classless, although I am sure both players took a ton of abuse from the home crowds and it was there way of sticking it back in the faces of those who give them crap all weekend. Either way it brings emotion to the game and continues to fuel a great rivalry so a little bit of it either way every couple of years is good in my book.

The Sioux/Gophers Final 5 game from 3-4 years back is still the most entertaining college hockey game I have ever watched. We can only hope for final game like that again this year. I am praying Tech wins tonight so we are not all bored to death by having to watch Buckey's defensive hockey all weekend. Please MTU, but Bucky in his grave for good this year!

Let me start by saying I am a huge gopher hockey fan. This rule is complete joke and shows what a fraud Maturi and the rest of the idiots running that school really are. Maturi is nothing more then a glorified cheerleader, with the only difference being the real cheerleaders have more nuts. My (and many other UMN fans) favorite rivalry in sports is UND vs UMN and this clown messes that up for the masses to kiss up to someone and look PC. I hope you keep your name and mascot to keep sticking it to these PC sissy's like Maturi. I for one will be sending little joe a email as soon as I get off this site.

Smoggy, Not that one is any better then the other, but there is a slight difference between batteries and two oranges. We also hashed this out last year, every student section has it douche bags. Lets not forget the late 90's when UND's admin decided it would be a good idea to hand out red poweraid and the UND fans decided to shower the gophers and the REA ice with it before the team hand shake.

When buying tickets at MN don't buy them right infront of the arena, those are the more professional sellers. Try and pick them off guys a block or two away, in the past they have tended to be more of your average joe trying to just dump a ticket or two.

I am guessing the would just say UND across them. What else would they say?

The main reason that Earl isn't on the team is because he is a prick and has a terrible additude. I applaud the coaches for not selecting him and worrying more about putting a team together. Collecting all of the best talent doesn't mean you have the best team. As far as Lee goes I am a bit puzzled, but clearly the kid is extremely gifted to even be mentioned. I am guessing USA hockey also has big plan for the kid in the future and want to get him some big time experience. Sioux fans should feel great about this kid coming to town next year.

This is the problem with the New Ralph. We had the same problem down at Mariucci when it first opened. You get every stiff in the world out to see the new arena and the school bends over backwards to please them because they donate a little money to the school. My favorite road trip of the year use to be G.F. and going to the old Ralph. The place would be jumping 15 minutes before the game started and the atmosphere would never change. Sure we got heckled for being gopher fans, but it was always fun and expected. The last couple years has not been the same and I think it hurts your team. The rent a cops are also a joke. Last year we where told between periods to sit down during the game or remove or jerseys because people might get upset with fans from MN cheering (and he wasn't kidding). We looked at the guy and laughed when a Sioux fan stood up and told the cop he would be more upset to see actually hockey fans sitting on their hands like they where at mass! Bring back the old rinks!
