  1. They're "lifting it" from the state nickname. Good luck finding any decent name that hasn't been taken, especially if you are going to include high schools.
  2. Staying just "North Dakota" would actually give us the nickname "Green." "Go Green" would start to be the cheers.
  3. Ever heard that song "wasn't me."
  4. I'm guessing mainly a star is bright and iirc made up of gases similar to the sun (I just remembered the sun is a star). Sure you can have green stars and sun's. Red Hawks Green Hawks Black Hawks Blue stars Black stars Purple stars Any things possible.
  5. I (am) would actually get excited to buy University of North Dakota Roughriders apparel.
  6. Well said. (Although I dont agree with just ND bit that's a different story).
  7. Same thing I said before. If you dont like Roughriders as a state nickname. I suggest you write your congressman and have it removed from the list of nicknames (among the states website). If you don't care fine. We know its not the official. You only get one of those. Every state has an official name. And about five other nicknames.
  8. You're right its not. I never said it was.
  9. Looks like compliments to me.

I heard the Ralph is gonna sell "WWRD" wristbands.
  11. They ran out of eagle names so they switched to hawks.
  12. The official North Dakota state website saying Roughriders is a nickname of the state.
  13. Great detective work there ace.
  14. Someone post the Herald article: Removed native names become color with animal. Mostly a bird. That consultant needs new material.
  15. Roughrider: One who breaks in untamed horses.
  16. I'm thinking something like the old NFL Broncos logo with a cowboy holding on. Be pretty badass.
  17. Have it removed from the official state website that says it one of the states nicknames. That would be a start for you.
  18. We like to think of Roughriders as Teddy. But the main definition of Roughriders is: a person who breaks in or can ride unbroken horses. Pretty fitting in North Dakota.
  19. Write the governor and have it removed.
  20. Does it have less meaning if its unofficial state nickname to you. Or if a new more legislators at the time voted "yes." It is indeed one of North Dakotas nicknames. Plain & Simple.
  21. "This is Roughrider Country." Nice ring to it.
  22. Will some people boycott UND Spirit/Sundog athletics?
  23. Herald calls them "intangible things."
  24. Funny you mention: "McDonald and Bridewell both approved a form of "Sundogs" and said it was unique to the region." "It would be marketable," McDonald said. "It would help to identify us at national level."
  25. "Bridewell said he favored the intangible choices". Karl said the same thing. Brace yourselves!
