Did you know they also have one of the best FCS teams in the country?

Another "Did you know Fargo is one of the largest cities in the upper Midwest and continues to grow" discussion. Haven't seen that before.

Growing up in GF they make you fear the red. Then a group came along and said that's nonsense. It's perfectly fine to swim in it. Had one last cig, ran the long obstacle course, then beat tired with heavy wet shoes swam across the Red in front of Blue Moose!

What could a person spend $150 million* on? -build a outdoor ampitheater - build a winter tubbing, ski hill with lift and lodge -build a Cabelas that rents boats, atvs, snowmobiles - build Lake Grand Forks (this isn't that uncommon) - build a pavement race track (5,000 at the dirt track last night) - build a drag strip (Brainerds is on national tv) - build a motocross track - build a science center - build any museum - build a indoor skatepark (zero in north dakota) - build a indoor or outdoor paintball arena - build a generic top golf - build an amusement park - build that aquarium Bo wanted - build Space Needle Grand Forks - build fifteen $10 million dollar projects in Grand Forks! You could likely build multiple ones on the list for the money and any all of them would produce a greater economic impact than pickleball nets and a big gym. I'm surprised it didn't include another indoor ice sheet! *this is the spendable amount the tax produces. Sorry couldn't find a good place for this topic. "Things to do" seemed appropriate.

That was for a new 1% tax increase. Much easier to pass an extention on a current tax.

Wonder why they haven't proposed using this tax for a new library I thought they badly wanted?
-
Yes that's how inflation works. Prices double every 20-25 years. The tax will be worth $20+ million a year in 20-25 years. If you have the same amount of tax for the same amount of time you should get an equivalent. Feels like the Legacy Fund, "there's some money coming in what do you want to spend it on so we don't have to give it back." Seems like there's always a vote for a new tax. Literally just finished the new school tax vote. Was hoping that new road tax would make some sort of difference. Money probably accidently ended up in another department. Now we need more volleyball and tennis nets. It's like they ain't even trying.

Alerus Center costs $80 million to build. The sales tax to build it is for 30 years....that tax brings in $10 million a year.
-
https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/local/grand-forks-city-council-park-board-discuss-costs-associated-with-proposed-recreational-facilities I don't get it. They want to extend the Alerus Center tax another 30 years. Which of course would essentially buy another Alerus Center. But this one seems very boring. Just more of the same stuff from around town just under one roof. Like I could think of 80 million better things to build than more volleyball courts and a swimming pool.

That would likely really accelerate the downsizing of the NDUS.

"F150 guy" = bland. Chevy Trail Boss = Boss.

As seen on Hoovies Garage too.

Except he doesn't drive the pickup truck Rivian. He drives the SUV Rivian. They got Range Rover vibes. Electric obviously.

I see the FM areas equivalent mall, Moorhead Center Mall, is being torn down. Grand Cities Mall beat the odds and has low vacancy. Which some would say because of local owners...like west acres.

I find myself hitting up Dollar General more and more. The convenience factor of parking next to the door and easy in, easy out vs Walmart has won me over.

Bout to grab me a beer and a lawn chair and go sit on the berm.

Unless you want damage to your car, avoid the right lane on 32nd going East.

US Supreme Court lets states legalize sports betting

You must be talking draftkings (fantasy sports) Because all sports betting is illegal in ND (besides casinos). -
Hard to see anyone stopping the Gophers.

US Supreme Court lets states legalize sports betting
Cratter replied to the green team's topic in Community
Downloaded DraftKings and did Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) for the past year. Then I started listening to a podcast about sports betting. Figured it was time to up my game. But found out quick. To my dismay. These apps won't let me do that because I live in ND. ND will only let me lose money on how they see fit. Undeterred, I just found an offshore gambling site. This is partially why bitcoin blew up in the beginning. -
