Sorry but avoiding Mankato State (and other less qualified schools) is the exact reason the NCHC was started.

One would have to think with UND not mentioning anything about cutting or delaying research spending (as far as I can tell) and NDSU basically only saying they'll delay research dollars (with barely mentioning anything else), they truly seem invested in increasing their research category (which means one would assume that's where all their discretionary spending is going) to get prepared for a hopeful FBS football conference invite.

And while UND cuts sports and educational programs....NDSU so far has said we'll just not spend so much money on research?

Every year North Dakota, for all intensive purposes, will be one of the top teams of college hockey without trying...rebuilding at North Dakota equates to something like missing the Frozen Four by one game. No one knows the future. Wouldn't be surprised if UND struggled in a few games next year. They appear to be even younger than this year. But with Cam in net anything is possible.

Because it's unofficially official. Presidents aren't voting til next month but straw polls have them in.

It's not uncommon for FCS schools to play two money FBS games a season.

Sorta goes along with my "I'll take a .500 season if it meant winning a natty" statement.

One could argue if your an average college hockey player you'll probably develop best playing in your current league before trying to jump to a level that might currently be above your skill level.

Idaho will probably play all those games and get twice the price an average team FCS team would. That's what I see happening.

How many freshman are expected to come in now for next year? UND pushing to be the youngest in college hockey?

I tried mentioning that about midseasonthis year here and got met with "this team had a lot of talent and was expected to be pretty dang hood."
