Fruechte and Mussmans credentials are pretty similar: Played ball at Big Ten school OC at a MN d2 school Right Before joining UND as OC. Will the next chapter be the same? UND OC directly to UND Head Coach in their 30s?

Who did NDSU go get to help turn their program around.... In the early 2000s when they couldn't beat UND? A guy who was the defensive coordinator at a Big Ten program and a part of two National Championships with that same team before leaving for NDSU.

Took NDSU a week to announce Entz was leaving to announcing a new coach. UND can go the route when Muss was fired and do a long drawn out process and make Chuck the pigskin guy national news again... Or go the NDSU route and announce Fruechte as coach tomorrow. Which will it be? Place your bets!

Tomorrow's press conference could also be the introduction of what the search committee looks like, who's on it, timeframe, etc...

I asked the program, the Red River High School graduate, helped build. It gave me this answer about tomorrow presser: Take it with a grain of salt though....

So the presser is to reiterate nothing new? I didn't think that's usually what happens at press conferences....could be wrong though. Maybe it's just "national search...interim coach." Or maybe the contract details were just finally worked out and that's why Fruechte was added? Stay Tuned...

Press conference tomorrow with Fruechte, Bubba, and Chave at 1. Anything "not major" is usually announced via press release not press conference. Be odd to have a press conference to repeat what they released today?

"HI, this is Bubba, the guy you committed to.... I'm calling you to let you know I've decided to step down. We still badly want your skills at our university And I'm working closely with the AD to have a smooth successful transition to a new head coach I'm sure you'll enjoy playing for. In the meantime, I'll still be around, and feel free to call me anytime if you have anything you want to talk about." Cratter for AD 2025!

Bubba, the head coach, can do all that. Bubbas new role is so important he had to start today? Instead it's your mom's new boyfriend who calls you? The guy, who mom calls "temporary", that could be gone in a week?

Which begs the question. If fruechte is hired. It shows all you gonna do it be on a team that replaces it's coach. And suddenly your like one of the main guys now for head job! Schmidt was following some successful people around the football world I thought? Like at NDSU, you're almost guaranteed the head spot, because of the success. Or maybe Like UND, you're almost guaranteed the head spot, because of the unsuccess.

Heard they dank mamosas on the plane 2 celly.

But is having the jab a requirement?

Ok the final list: Fruechte Schmidt Baldwin like on election night....its cratters probability of election. it currently sits at 90% itll be one of these three with the highest probability at the top.

Yeah you don't really need an "temporary head coach" for a couple weeks in the off-season when Bubba is still working for the university.

He's so young he's not even active on FaceBook. Probably on Instagram like all the kids nowadays.

UND has never hired a head football coach that wasn't a former player or assistant coach. Since the days of leather helmets.

Can't break the 70+ year old tradition of keeping UND Football inbreeding "within the family"!

Bubba's new position barely puts a dent in UNDs annual budget. They creating these new jobs left and right lately. Former UND President Kennedy was paying some lady to live in Texas a $120,000+ a year and be like head of Ethnic Studies for Continental Recruitment or something and work "remotely."

Chaves to Fruechte: "We'll give you one year contracts because you're young and unproven. Do good and we'll continue. This is your probation period. Otherwise just a place holder for a longer search..."

Oh wait....maybe... Sounds like the perfect opportunity to name Fruechte the new head coach!

So how soon do do they announce Schmidt as the new head coach? 2 weeks at the most?

Schmidts name being thrown around so much on this site.....means, I'd venture to guess, it's being tossed around equally in the athletic department... It definately feels like there's smoke smoldering....

Brent Bolte seems like the guy with the most potential amongst likely candidates. Or should I say the least risky.

Why hasnt any football team hired Schmidt to be their head coach yet? They all found better options?
