  1. Ah yes that makes sense now. Isn't this a list of the top paid mens D1 basketball coaches? https://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/mens-basketball/coach/ South Dakota State still top 74 and only need to pay $400,000.
  2. Meant 40th to 50th spot. 50th is new conference mate in SDSU at $300,000. Essentially the top dog in Summit league. 40th coach also has a UND connection (And why I picked those two spots). *yes the numbers are a few years old. The link to USA today has the new numbers....big drop off after the major conferences...and some big differences within the major conferences too.
  3. Big jump from the 40th spot to the 50th spot. Only need to pay $300,000 to be the 50th highest paid coach in D1 mens basketball.
  4. Preferably good lower level head coach record and/or DI assistant coaching experience. As others have pointed not a fan of someone learning to be a head coach for the first time.
  5. Looks like a party line vote...which is an odd thing to say when hiring a university President.
  6. Lots of shots from the audience but the board is a hot goalie right now. Not enough to get past. Mark Kennedy is going to win this one.
  7. 3 out of the 4 women on the board have voted against Mark Kennedy.
  8. Where are the other finalists now: Steve Weemer went on to coach boys High School basketball and is no longer in coaching. Randall Herbst kept climbing the ranks and is now associate head coach at UW Green Bay. Tom Brown went from associate head coach at Winona State to head coach at D2 West Texas A&M. Will they make a Masters Degree a requirement ("preference") again to apply?
  9. Trip down SS memory lane.
  10. Everyone in 2006: Craig Smith! Great coach at Mayville. UND: Not even a finalist. Fast forward to 2019 and Craig Smith is head coach at Utah State. Leads them to their first March Madness appearance in eight years in his first year there. Similar circumstances with the recent hiring of the UND football coach....why is the obvious so hard?
  11. I don't think the new guy will make much more. Bubba S. at UND makes base $200,000. Jones was at $140,000.
  12. In comparison Brad Berry makes $400,000 base. Illinois States mens basketball coach is the highest paid coach on their campus.
  13. Illinois State of the Missouri Valley pays it's current head coach over $500,000 a year base salary. Brian Jones might make the same or get a pay raise to be the an assistant there.
  14. Looks like there's a real GOBC member on the board finally.

    New Coach?

It snowed late last September in GF. Been 8 straight months with snow....could be 9 soon.
  16. Well he should stop.
  17. So it's fair to say: Shaw losing his job at UND was just bad luck for him.
  18. I'd watch it.
  19. Atmosphere could easily increase ten fold overnight but no one really wants too. Cause they love money so much. Move all the students to the lower bowl and allow alcohol in all the seats. "Increased atmosphere" is just lip service at this point.
  20. Testosterone shots for anyone over 40.
  21. I've seen bitcoin mining operations on youtube. It's crazy stuff. Lots of fans and computers packed together. Had no idea there was one in gf. Not surprised a fire started there. Goes to show how much money was in that building to have a security fence.
  22. Making it the 4th most popular sport on campus.
  23. She's won a US Senate race. That's more than Mark Kennedy can claim.
  24. A banker telling a city, who won't default on the loan, that this investment is a great idea is classic. Everyone knows that Forum communications won't be renting in the Herald building much longer after they sell it. https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/government-and-politics/4599544-city-tables-herald-building-vote The story keeps changing. First it was going to be ownership agreement from amongst the three of them, but only if they could convince the "public entities" to lease space there so they could make easy money together: Now there is no such mention of the three, just a agreement to sell to Kuntz and Tweten if they can continue to convince the public entities to spend money on the building... Wonder why that changed so fast? How to make Easy Money 101: Buy a building for under $3 Million. Thats already leased and guaranteed to make you over three million in ten short years....($25,0000 a month)
  25. A year ago, the City Council talked about increasing property taxes. Because the city didn't have enough money to spend on things it wanted and money was too tight in the general fund...fast forward a year and.... Now they want to spend millions renovating the perfectly fine "town square" and are going to spend millions to purchase the Herald building.
