  1. http://theweek.com/articles/680886/arrogant-thinking-liberal-sports-writers
  2. To me the core problem is the NCAA. So what if Wazzamatta U wants to play DI mens lacrosse and nothing else. So. What. Obviously Wazzamatta would have to do things inside their university to meet Title IX, but why should any school have to play 14 or 16 sports to just play 1 or 2 that might make fiscal sense.
  3. Kids are too much trouble. Just this; that is all.
  4. I corrected your statement. Title IX is about equitable opportunities, not how many. The NCAA is the one that mandates n sports to play in Division X.
  5. Say it a couple-thirteen-fourteen more times and I may believe you.
  6. I'm not sure how the current ratings work. In the past wasn't it: E - Could have your beer with you in batter's box and on base paths. Any defender could have beer with them. D - Could have beer with you in batter's box and running to first but not on other paths. Only OF and cornermen could have beers. C - Had to leave beer with base coaches before batting; timeout to transfer beer from first to third coach allowed. Only OF could have beers.
  7. By level, no. But would they sandbag their way through a tournament bracket?
  8. Why is that link suddenly "Access Denied"?
  9. I suspect one particular Russian will go.
  10. Gary always put together a team full of ringers and sandbaggers.
  11. Leadership. Ownership. That PCM guy used to quote Napoleon in that, "The moral is to the physical as three is to one." For those of you that don't understand that, confidence and believing is three times as important as skills and tools.
  12. There's a lot of work to be done between here and there.
  13. I was pondering the very same point. It's a very interesting trial balloon to float out there, and yeah, I just called it a trial balloon. My rough look at the 2015 numbers say you can cut "WIH" or "M/W S&D and M/W Tennis" and get to about the same $1.2-1.3 million. But, imagine if cutting the last group cost an extra $600k (4 x $150k) penalty. More interesting is that it's Douple and the Summit. There's some history there about statements coming, or not coming, out of those offices.
  14. Can't claim it entirely as mine. A former poster here brought the concept to me.
  15. It's the curse of the warm spring weather. It's the curse of the cool spring weather. Pull no punches? I believe there's something "in the room" that's bugging this team. They need to fix it or work it out.
  16. I'd say Jost was gone except for one thing: the missed games. That exposed that Jost is smaller and could use one more year to build the body. Note that the injury came after the grind of many hard games in few days. That's the way the pros run.
  17. Won't disagree with you. I was just looking at necessary winning percentages (0.667 < 0.750), not who's on the schedule.
  18. You touched on another issue. Too many guys are playing "out of position". Tyson Jost is a machine, but he's a freshman and under six feet tall. Right now he should be the #2 center on the team. It feels like everyone is shifted up a role from where they should be. I suspect that has to do with all the early departures last spring.
  19. BC and Lowell do home and home Thursday and Friday. USAFA hosts Sacred Heart Penn State is at Michigan State Ohio State hosts Michigan Wisconsin is at Minnesota Cornell hosts RPI Notre Dame is at BU Providence is at UMass Vermont hosts Merrimack SCSU is at DU Omaha is at UND
  20. My take on Jim's updated end of season forecast. The target line is PWR13 or better. Wisconsin and Ohio State are in better shape than UND. They need 4 of 6. UNO is in the same place as UND: 3 of 4. BC and Vermont and USAFA are hurtin': They have to win 2 of 2 to be at 13. Notre Dame and Cornell and Providence can go 1 of 2 and still be PWR13. SCSU can go 2 of 4. PSU has to go 3 of 6. DU, UMD, Harvard, UMn, WMU, BU, Union, and UMLowell all appear to be safely in.
  21. That's out of date. The updated number is that UND must win 3 of 4 remaining regular season games to stay PWR14 or better. http://collegehockeyranked.com/forecast/pwrbywins/ There's no margin left.
  22. He doesn't look a day over 159.
  23. 100% agree. I don't see UND going below 16.
  24. Nope. Win this shift.* That's all there is. *That's a rip-off of the "make 'em snap it again" of the UND Football defense mantra.
  25. I know he haunts here, so I'll quote the "Let's Go DU" blog from October 2016: https://letsgodu.com/2016/10/06/state-cuts-will-likely-impact-summit-league-membership/ That says seven total: MBB, WBB, plus five is seven total.
