  1. Once, just once, can I see the team establish a two-goal lead and then make a serious attempt to extend it to three or four or more. When they go "trap" or "defensive" or "third-man high" or "lock" or whatever name you want to call it the players all look like they are thinking and not playing. When they're playing they have the puck on their stick ... and friends, that is the best defense.
  2. Cornell: It's somewhere in central New York state. I believe Ithaca, NY. I think that's somewhere in central New York state also. I'd guess their primary target demographic would live in central New York state also. I wonder what the CNY on "Time Warner Cable-CNY" stands for.
  3. You can wish it differently because of personal likes, but we live in a world of reality and the general overall interest right now is hockey.

  5. Given the health status of the organization it's ... Gene and Travis plus eight!
  6. Honestly, these days, if there's any sort of "night signal" issues I go to the broadband and listen on-line. About the only time I'm really concerned about radio is if I'm in a car during a game. Is commercial radio going the way of commercial newspapers?
  7. The key in reading that is reading what it says: " ... shall average at least 15,000 in actual or paid attendance ... " That means that you need to follow either section 20.9.7.3.1.1 Actual Attendance or 20.9.7.3.1.2 Paid Attendance. NOTE: In the NCAA manual if you follow 20.9.7.3.1.2, you must include all the subsections like 20.9.7.3.1.2.1.1 and so on.
  8. If I'm wrong so is the "2009-10 NCAA Division I Manual" because that's where that was copied and pasted from. So who's wrong now.
  9. Did you read what I posted directly from the NCAA manual? All of the hows and whats are in there. They define "paid" or "actual" attendance and how to count it.
  10. Actually ... (says the guy with the 2008-10 NCAA DI Manual on his screen) ...
  11. I'd guess shortly after the Winter Olympics it could get interesting. - They'll be searching for a permanent assistant for the one that left to move closer to family. - They'll be finishing up recruiting (and their access to Olympic caliber players should improve thanks to the Lamoureux twins). I say this because a spy heard Idalski speaking at Sioux Boosters in Fargo recently. The impression was that Idalski (because he actually showed some emotion ) has something good in store.
  12. Home game. Upper left corner. That's why they call it "nationally televised".
  13. More poetry ... from Robert S. Kane: The purple cow I have unfortunately seen. It is as you'd expect: crossed with an aubergine. Standing in a field or laid out on a plate it is as you'd expect: cross, and a mistake.
  14. By request ... THE PURPLE COW by Gelett Burgess (1866-1951) I never saw a Purple Cow, I never hope to see one; But I can tell you, anyhow, I'd rather see than be one.
  15. Ya-think? http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/265112/ {punch line here}
  16. Interesting way they run things at Summit League member school Western Illinois University. WIU fabricates quotes for their press releases? Nice. http://www.wgem.com/Global/story.asp?S=11767809
  17. You forgot. I can't remember.
  18. And at one time the thought was "Great Lakes" states. If the Big Ten could get Texas (and the money that would come with) the "Great Lakes" or "contiguous" thing would be gone in a flash.
  19. Remember my mantra: When all is confusing; when nothing makes sense; when up seems down and down seems up ... Stop. Breathe. Rise above and Look down and in at the situation disinterestedly. And then ... Follow the Benjamins. All will become clear.
  20. You're right. Just ask David Gipp and Ron His Horse is Thunder. They're determined to keep their Peoples in a victim mindset and mode, and they're succeeding.
  21. The reservations can't maintain their tribal facilities, even basic services like water treatment plants and schools. And now they should add ice facilities?
  22. There's nothing to fear for, in the end, The Reaper gets it all. But until then, I have a fever, and the only cure is more cowbell.
