Back in 1999, when the obvious heir apparent to Joe Paterno, is told he won't be the next head football coach at PSU, why didn't folks start digging into ... "Why?"

Here are their short-term logo/identifier options (obviously minus one word and a head wearing feathers): http://und.edu/university-relations/branding/_files/docs/licensing-guidelines.pdf

You're probably in the minority on that one.

This year's power play reminds me of the days when I'd hear some folks chant "Decline it!" when UND would get a power play a few years ago.

This isn't an NCAA issue. This is a pattern of felonies and a conspiracy to cover up the felonies. The Pennsylvania Attorney General* should start showing up with cops and 'cuffs and start the perp-walks. *Linda L. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the Duquesne University School of Law. ... The Penn AG is a Pitt Panther, not a PSU? Why'd I just smirk an evil little smirk?

With Idaho apparently hung out to dry, that 11/13 Big Sky alignment is looking pretty smart right now.

Folks, it has to be this way for there to be any hope of retaining the moniker at any point. The power is in the hands of Spirit Lake Sioux Tribe. Either they step up or we all move on. And if they do step up, all the moniker opponents have to take it up with them.

Hardin has a broken leg? What's the problem? He has two ...

I heard there's only one scholarship available and they're looking for a JUCO to make immediate impact when they're playing a Big Sky schedule.

Yup, and that's why it's play ball or get kicked to the curb. The issue here is that the monopoly, the monster, hasn't been stopped and won't stop devouring until it self-destructs. No one will kill it, it will have to destroy itself.

Too many universities are running like city-states and in the process end up with a wrong-headed approach to issues like this. Think about it: a graduate assistant saw this and went to the head football coach and not the police. Seriously? A coach and not the cops? The grad assistant goes to the head coach, who goes to the AD, who goes to the VP of Business and Operations, who goes to the university president. Uh, guys ... that's a felony offense. It's spelled P-O-L, I-C-E. None of you go to the police when you learned of it? Worse? The VP in question oversees the campus police at PSU and he didn't report it to the campus police? I have a simple solution: Campuses should keep their police operations (and keep paying for them); however, the chief of any campus police department should have a different title --> deputy chief of police in the city the campus resides in. Yes, I'm saying campus police should be a precinct of the city police they reside in. The campus cops would then have accountability not to a campus power structure but to the people in the city the campus is in. As this case shows (and unfortunately others I'm sure we can come up with), campus structures aren't always as forthcoming as they should be. Make the campus cops accountable to the greater populace of the area through the city's chief of police. Campuses are not their own little worlds. Quit treating them that way.

No, you're wrong. The NCAA is not a "business". It's a sports monopoly run by left-leaning (university president) idealists. If they ran it like a business they'd go for maximum profits for all units of the business, accounting for local market concerns. Businessmen live in the real world; these guys live in the world they wish for.

According to ND Senate (as of Nov 8, 2011), we won't have to worry about this until Jan 1, 2015.

Al wants one thing: To take power over the universities (I'm looking at you too NDSU) back from the ND SBoHE into the Legislature.

I'm not saying number of penalties; I'm saying he needs to be smarter and not take silly ones at critical times of games. Case in point: the Saturday game versus Maine. It's a tight, one-goal game late and he decides to step up and destroy a Maine forward ... and takes an interference penalty in the process that leads to the goal for Maine to tie.

Well there's a glimpse into the Ninth Ring of Hell.

Is there a single website, simple, that shows all the conferences and their members as of this recent spate of changes?

So.......would you guys swap Muss for Lennon?
The Sicatoka replied to WYOBISONMAN's topic in Football
One more notion: I heard too much "6th win" talk from the coaches and team this weekend. Yes, that's an important goal (winning season), but it almost felt like a pre-emptive strike against criticism in case the rest of the season doesn't go so well. This UND team has a shot at a share of a Great West title. UC-Davis is coming off an emotional win and will look at UND as a team that just barely squeeked out wins at UNC and against a transitional DII. UC-Davis can't win a title (already have two losses). Davis is primed for the picking the way I see it. Will Mussman see it the same way and have the team ready? -
If you're playing "ifs and buts" why not throw in the names Gregoire and Hextall too?

If I were the coach ... - I'd get Grimaldi and O'Donnell healthy ASAP. Actually, look at the record and O'Donnell is a better success indicator when in the line-up than Grimaldi. This team is offensively-challenged right now and needs all hands on deck. - I'd have a chat with Rodwell. I'd tell him he's the shooter on that Lammy (getter) - Rowney (creater) - Rodwell (shooter) line and that he made a mistake in passing to Lammy on the 2-on-1 break over the weekend. Take a smart shot and Lammy will clean up the grease. - I'd have a chat with Pattyn and remind him that the safest place for the puck to be in your zone is on your stick behind your net. He made a freshman mistake leading Minnesota's goal to tie. - I'd have a chat with the entire defense. I'd let them know expectations of them are really high but that sometimes the best way to meet those expectations is to simplify what they're doing. - I'd also let MacWilliam know that he needs to dial down the penalties. - I'd tell the team that these are the months that end in "R". Those are the months that you learn and make some mistakes. Next come the months that end in "Y". Those are the months that you show what you've learned and make final adjustments. Then come the months that end in "H" and "L". That's where you apply what you've learned. Keep it R-Y-H-L.

I've wondered how certain members of Fargo media just seem to know the right day and time to call a recruit to see if they've committed somewhere.

Lennon would restore "buzz" to the program. I think Mussman's true test was handed to him by UC-Davis on Saturday when UCD beat Cal Poly: If Muss' team can win out they share a piece of the GW title and he has some real credibility going into the Big Sky. If they lose out, Muss is in trouble. -
Normally I'd be afraid of this game. However, I've heard more than one UND player (via media) mention this game as one that they're looking forward to. Time to follow through and correct the previous error, lads.

Not really. I just know poor form when I see it and called it. For that matter, I really do expect better from you Scoob. Where's your "A game"?
