Why haven't we heard Faison or Kelley come out and publicly state their position and plan? Why hasn't the media, or "select alumni" cornered them and forced them to man-up and state a position? It's time for Faison and Kelley to state a position and a case. I know someone who let their position be known. Somewhere in this forms the question: Aren't we growing "good grad students" from our good undergraduate programs? Why does the NDUS have to search far and wide, instead of cherry-picking the best it already produces?

They don't have to wait until Nov 2010. They come out and say "We'll take you if you're in compliance with the settlement you have with the NCAA." Boom. Done. Easy.

From Tu-Uyen Tran's blog: Why would Dr. Hanson bring up a fund that seemingly is just fine in that it is under $4000 in the red? Why bring that up when you're looking at $2,500,000 in the red? It might be nothing; it might be damning. Either way, Dr. Hanson brought it up. Very interesting. And ... Either way ... seems not all the "other shoes" have dropped ... yet.

You know, I'm surprised that pointing out Tu-Uyen Tran's blog didn't draw more ire from the NDSU "Cleopatras" that show up here.

There aren't that many hockey schools out there to pick from. The only other names mentioned are hockey playing MAC schools (Miami, WMU, BGSU, and they don't look like the Big Ten either). MACs would be great for the eastern block of Big Ten Hockey. It wouldn't do much (would probably do harm) for Minnesota and Wisconsin. That's UND's best hope in this. The problem in all that: Who knows what rules a BTHC would come up with regarding team monikers. It wouldn't be the WCHA any more.

More details about these new "DI move up" standards. " ... an application fee equal to the average annual value of distributions and championships benefits realized by Division I members" ... " a figure that was set at about $1.4 million in the most recent distribution year." That's a hefty "cover charge" to join their party. All of this flagellation just to create a Division I lower-tier "Summit League North Division" that is merely the better half of the old North Central Conference.

I miss an eight-team league where everyone played a "balanced" schedule (two at home, two on road, against every other league member).

Folks you're all missing the key word: Time Warner CABLE. If cable has broadcasting rights they aren't going to put it up onto Dish or Direct. If "Sportsnet NY" has the broadcasting rights, who knows where the feed goes.

Time Warner Cable-CNY is on Dish Network? Note that in the link 'sprig' gave it shows "Time Warner Cable-CNY" and "Time Warner Cable Albany". Time Warner runs a "regional" network based on location. What they show in Albany may not be the same as what they show in "CNY" (meaning Syracuse or Rochester or Ithaca) or they can run the same on both. Key example: They run Rensselaer games on "Time Warner Cable Albany" because Rensselaer (Troy, NY) and Albany are adjoining cities. Rensselaer (Troy, NY) and Union (Schenectady, NY) touch Albany, NY, hence they'd run it on TWC-Albany. Cornell (Ithaca, NY) and Colgate (Hamilton, NY) are in Central NY (CNY), hence they'd run it on TWC-CNY. It's the same concept as running it on "Midcontinent - Grand Forks" but not "Midcontinent - Rapid City" (if such things existed).

Friday, when Malone scored, I knew they'd go defensive, and I knew it would backfire because there was too much time left. This team can play lock-down defensive for about five minutes. Anything more and bad things happen, namely, they'll give up a bad goal and they'll have shut down the offense for the night (meaning at best a tie will follow). Best defense in my mind? Cycling the puck down low in the offensive end, with the defensemen looking utterly bored watching from the points.
