The nickname for this line has left me scratching my head. I have seen and heard people claiming that they came up with the nickname all season long, and it drives me insane. What is so great about the "DOT line" nickname? Why would anyone claim to have started it? This line was sensational when they were out on the ice, and the best anyone could come up with was an acronym? It seems like everyone's nickname these days is simply an abbreviation of their name: A Rod, I Rod, K Fed, J Lo, LT...granted, there are some good ones out there, but I hate seeing all the crappy ones honored Where is the creativity? There have been some great nicknames in the past. Hrkac Circus comes to mind. The Fridge, Magic, Night Train, "Air" Jordan, The Golden Jet, The Great One, Sweetness...what has changed to make us so content with mediocrity? If Toews does come back, I know the "DOT" moniker will be back as well. But if he takes his game to Chicago, can we please try to come up with something a little better next year? If i remember correctly the thinking behind it, DOT was an acronym of Department of Transportation as well as Duncan, Oshie, Toews. it was meant as a play on words like they move or transport the puck hence Department of Transportation. It was just another nickname on the board here. How others got it, I don't know. I think that Woog is just not smart enough to think of anything else. There has been some dumb things though like when Smaby stopped someone from getting to the net and someone yelled "Smaby not". Either way, it is a nickname that they seem to like so why change. jk Posted April 14, 2007 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Strictly my opinion, but I think JT will in fact move on this year, and if so Sioux fans should thank him for the extra year, which was filled with terrific moments, and rejoice in the players that are returning. That said, if there is a line next year with Duncan and Oshie on it, it should simply be called the Hobey Line, for the one award in the bank and the one that several linemates may contend for. That was quite possible one of the dumbest names I had ever heard. Maybe I just didn't get it. And Redfrog, your countdown just depressed me.
