It was quite rare for me to see golfers using the course even when I drove by it during the week before Covid and after Covid it's even rarer. Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted Tuesday at 11:22 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:22 PM would've and could've been a little misleading but why not update this pic to the last spitfire game where there were zero empty seats and the finished backdrop of the apartments? come on man Quote

Well, you can thank state budget cuts and the awful position that UND was in financially a decade ago. $500 million in deferred maintenance isn't something you solve overnight and takes years to unwind. And yet, there's still more to be done to help right size the campus to bring that amount down even further across the campus. People want nice buildings, parking lots, etc. but will always balk at the cost of maintaining those same items. If rates for golfing at Ray Richards were raised to actually make the course profitable or at least have a loss smaller than it currently is, people would bitch about the cost of a 9-hole and likely claim "UND try to make money and should just sell the course" or "It would be better if UND spent money focused on academics and not a golf course". Which is why we are here. If the PILOT isn't passed, then the project likely doesn't go through which means that Ray Richards will continue to lose money each year in its current state while UND pays to keep it maintained until the plug is pulled entirely and UND sells it entirely or something. And then people will bitch that "UND shouldn't have sold it but put money into it instead". Rinse and repeat the tale as old as time. 1 1 Quote
