It is fiction people and a great book made into a movie. it happens all the time. Maybe the catholic church should worry more about priest that touch little boys and not a fictional movie.... Makes one think that perhaps their faith is not as strong as they would like others to think. As Jon Stewart intimated on a recent Daily Show, the idea that Jesus was married and had a child seems unbelieveable to many yet that he was born of a virgin, walked on water, raised the dead and rose from the dead is treated as indisputable history. fs1
Let me start by saying I am a member of the "majority" faith as you say it, but a "midlevel" member at best. But even for me it gets tired of hearing our faith being attacked. We of the majority faith are ok with what others believe and base their faith on, but I guess our faith and beliefs are up to debate. Why arent there books or movies questioning the other faiths? Those of the majority faith are not threatened, they are just tired of it and are pissed off! They are tired of the main stream secular media twisting and turning anything they can to be critical of the majority faith. Remember a few years ago when the Passion came out and there was an outrage from the media as to how Mel GIbson got it all wrong! I guess then they cared about the the gospels and portraying them correctly and how Gibson got them wrong and wasnt true to them. Back then the movie's faithfulness to the bible was important,or at least that is what they wanted us to believe. Now with their darling new movie and book they dont seem to care about sticking to the gospels and whether their darling new movie is faithful to them or not. DO YOU SEE WHY THEY ARE TIRED OF IT AND ARE PISSED OFF? The media doesnt ask questoins about this movie as to whether it is accurate or not,as it did back when the Passion came out. Again back then they were concerned with that, but hey, that was a few years ago and things change. Now they dont think that is worth discussing, instead they just portray in their stories to us that this movie is "true" or "believable" and we should just take it as that. DO YOU SEE WHY THEY ARE TIRED OF IT AND ARE PISSED OFF? This movie is just example of the secular media's "facination" with the majority faith. This year, on the week leading up to Easter, the USA Today's cover story every day of the week was about how the bible and gospels were "wrong". I guess they felt it appropriate to tell us our faith is wrong at that time. But what I havent seen is any stories like this about other faiths and how they have it "wrong"! In fact were at war with a fanatical "wing" of a major faith and there are no stories to be found about their "faith" and if it is right or wrong in the eyes of the secular media. NO STORIES ON WHETHER THE VIRGINS WAITING FOR THE HOMICIDE BOMBERS OR TERRORISTS ARE REAL OR JUST B---S--T TRYING TO ENTICE PEOPLE TO PERFORM ACTS OF EVIL ON INNOCENT PEOPLE. But I guess that wouldnt be news worthy anytime over the last roughly 5 years. But on Easter week it is news worthy to tell us how we have it "wrong" again. DO YOU SEE WHY THEY ARE TIRED OF IT AND ARE PISSED OFF! Again,we will believe what we want to have our faith based on and others can do the same with theirs. no hard feelings

Again,we will believe what we want to have our faith based on and others can do the same with theirs. no hard feelings From your perspective I think I CAN see why you are PO'd. But there are many books out there questioning other faiths too. I think that it feels like more who question Christianity because this country is so overwhelmingly Christian. As an atheist, I can assure you that those other religions are pretty open to question and debate. I DO feel fortunate to live in a country which at least pays lip service to Church-state separation. And I'd much rather live in a predominantly Christian country than a Muslim one. IMO, Christianity is much more civilized due to the effects of the Enlightenment. If not for that, the more fundamental Christians would be just as dangerous as the more fundamental Muslims. There are a few in our country who DO seem just as dangerous, at least to me; Reconstructionism argues that the Bible is to be the governing text for all areas of life--such as government, education, law, and the arts, not merely "social" or "moral" issues like pornography, homosexuality, and abortion. Reconstructionists have formulated a "Biblical world view" and "Biblical principles" by which to examine contemporary matters. Reconstructionist theologian David Chilton succinctly describes this view: "The Christian goal for the world is the universal development of Biblical theocratic republics, in which every area of life is redeemed and placed under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the rule of God's law." http://www.tylwythteg.com/enemies/reconstruct2.html
fs1
I am sure there are books and various items about a lot of faiths. They are probably in every library around, but the fact is that the ones blasted on the big screen or front page of the USA Today, or major publications ,be it papers or books or whatever, and on TV are about one faith and one faith only. And the fact is they are almost always in one way or another made to make the "majority" faith look bad. Evidently the ones on other faiths arent worth of all the "attention" or making a major motion picture out of them. For all the positive press on the darling movie,if you check page 4E of yesterdays USA Today,in a very small article on the page , it tells us that of 48 reviews of 40 are critical of the film. Guess that wasnt front page news, that is reserved for positive spin on the movie. Its news worhty, but only page 4E worthy, tucked in the middle were most wont see it. Similar to where major newspapers retract their false front page statements from a few days before. Again news worthy, but not front page like the mistatements they make. dakotadan
wouldnt you rather break in and steal all of the popcorn and candy and movies than all of the lenses? That is the first thing I thought of, too. There are much more important things to steal than all of the lenses off of the projectors. Obviously whoever did this had an alterior motive besides just stealing.
Sioux-cia
I don't know that the theft had anything to do with the movie BUT the lens are valued in the thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars. They're likely to get more in the black market than popcorn and candy.

redwing77
Do you all think that the DaVinci Code would even make half the amount its made so far it it wasn't this contraversial/had this much protest/took the Vatican away from other issues to make an official statement about two hours + or - 30 minutes of fictional broohaha? Seriously, even if the movie sucks, I totally want to see it BECAUSE the Catholic Church is so up in arms about it!

Very true, but I still want to see the movie just because I'd be considered a "bad Christian" for doing so. But hey, I'm Jewish, so I suppose I already am a "bad Christian." redwing77
No, you're just going to hell because you're not Catholic...... I kid, I kid. What's to kid about? I've been told that, seriously, many times. I actually find it amusing. Could you imagine? All the angels waiting in line at the gates of hell because all of the smart financial minds are in hell because they weren't Catholic in life? Half the banks in the afterlife would be in Hell because the Jewish Banker Coalition owns most of the assets of the world! Anyways.... and the king of all trumps, I can meet Jesus in hell as he wasn't catholic either.

I told my mom that God wasn't Catholic a couple years ago....that didn't go over so well. Some people get so uptight about things sometimes.......
