If it actually took UND players to go remove the sign it's even worse. I was at the game about 20 minutes before the puck dropped and I didn't see the sign so hopefully whoever created it was escorted out very quickly. rushmore88
That's really disappointing. Unfortunately, no matter where you go, you are going to have some absolute imbeciles who think a horrifically offensive and inappropriate sign like that is amusing. If I see anything like that tonight, I'll do what I can do get the sign or the fans removed. What a bummer... speaking of which, how is Mr. Bina doing these days? siouxguyinstpaul
I didn't see it but I believe that NorthDakotaHockey did and to be honest with you - it really doesn't suprize me that the Goof fans did this as nothing they do suprizes me anymore. I have been to every college hockey arena in this state (along with a few out if state) and the Goof fans are by far the most arrogant and classless. PCM
Why should Gopher fans have to show class in their own arena? I thought we were all against having to do that. Now I'm confused.
Siouxdonyms
It doesn't surprise me that people make signs like this. I don't blame it on Gopher fans, as there are Sioux fans, Pioneer fans, CC fans, and every other type of fans who would do the same thing. The unfortunate here is that everyone knows what the "short bus" refers to. Society allowed that to happen. However, the majority of society have come to realize that this term isn't politically correct, but there will always be people who do this for whatever reason. In the past few weeks, I've seen people use the word "retard' right on this board, and I find that equally offensive. I work with students with mental retardation five days a week. They're not just at the mild level, but rather the severe level. These people spend their entire life behind the eight ball, simply because of their disability. To make things worse for them, people make fun of them on a regular basis. Behavior like this is unacceptable, and I wish that anyone who did display this type of behavior could spend one day in the life of one of my students, to educate them on the difficulty that people with disabilities have to go through every single day. Unfortunately, we'll just have to continue to put up with the hooligans.

Now I'm confused. this was way over and beyond not showing class. these people were obviously dropped on their heads as kids or maybe dropped on their heads last night before the game doing keg stands... on another note, there is nothing like a good old fashion keg stand
siouxguyinstpaul
Its not just in their arena - but everywhere they are such as Columbus last year - there were many examples too numerous to mention on this forum

I still watch that video on a regular basis. He obtained those mental problems through life's stresses, so I'm fine with that. Probably occurred the day he committed to the Gophs! I still say that either Hirsch is an idiot OR Lucia should be fired for endangering a student, playing him after the events. I tend to believe that Lucia really wouldn't have played him if he really was so screwed up.
FIRE HELMET GUY #26
I'm glad that most of you realize that these are just STUPID students that make these signs and not actual Gopher fans. It is too bad that UND players had to take the sign away and security did not. I'm just glad that an incident did not break out when they took the sign away, otherwise the Sioux players could have gotten into some heat for it, which would have been wrong seeing they just doing the right thing by taking it away. Most of the time signs are not even allowed into Mariucci, but thats what you get when you hire security people that are older then dirt. Thats the problem with the Gophers student section nowdays, it's all preppy, Banana Republic wearing hippies. The only dedicated student section we have anymore is over in Section 2 where WPOS and his crew are, they are the only ones that really do the cheers and cheer for the team. The only dedicated student section we have anymore is over in Section 2 where WPOS and his crew are, they are the only ones that really do the cheers and cheer for the team. It requires a delicate balance and I'm on the old man side of the equation now. I go to the games for the hockey and if it has a great atmosphere fine. Otherwise I'll just appreciate the players and the game. The Ralph appears to have too much security for many, Mariucci clearly hasn't often needed tighter security but this weekend it was needed and it was embarassing. I simply can not believe they through pops on the ice and I don't care what Lamoroux was doing. We've had tough losses and obnoxious opponents many times in the past and it didn't come to this. More disturbing was the absolute absence of the dreaded yellow coats taking seat numbers or even trying to punish those throwing crap. Combined with UND players actually having to provide security Friday it was a horrible finish for the first weekend that the Gophers really played six good periods of hockey.
