UND defeats Tennessee Tech 31-6

Lance Rucker and Gaven Ziebarth saved the day.

Rucker knocked out three fumbles on Tennessee Tech quarterback Kekoa Visperas and Ziebarth put the UND ground game on solid footing as the Hawks pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 31-6 win over Tennessee Tech in the first round of the FCS playoffs.

Rucker now has 10.5 sacks on the season after his third multi-sack game of the season.

"Unbelievable, right?" Schmidt said of Rucker. "If you're in Grand Forks and you want to keep Lance Rucker around, you should call the 701 Awards right now and start paying into that thing because we need to keep him in Grand Forks. You've got to love him, too. He's just about ball. He cares about ball. He cares about his teammates. The last five guys playing that position in this defense are now playing in the NFL, and Ruck has a chance to be able to be the next guy. He's twitched up. He's a handful out there."

An all time performance today by the junior! IMO we need to do everything we can as fans to make sure he plays here next year to become an all time great here.

Rucker is one bad motherrucker.  Would love to see him here next season with his brothers in arms.

Loved that announcer saying that multiple times, now to me that sounds like something that should be going on a t-shirt!

As there seems to be a lot of confusion about the 701 Award and how UND and fans can prevent being burned if a player decides to leave, I am re posting this from another poster in the other thread: 

 

I was told by someone in the know that they get 2% in spring, 2% start of fall and 96% after play in 5th game so can’t leave and take redshirt.  Something Schmidt brought with him. Same as the big programs he was with did it. 

When you donate, you choose the sport, and the coaches use it at their discretion.

Simply spreading the word about this beyond this message board helps a bit!
