ozone
2. I'm glad UND recruited Jordan's brother so they could get recruiting leverage to land Jordan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well said, jk, well said! There are a few of us not surprised by Jordan's success... certainly ecstatic, but not surprised!
brianvf
Jack Parker, coach of BU: Parker has played both teams and gives the edge to his Hockey East counterparts. "I'm not trying to give BC the kiss of death, but I've said all along I think they're the best team in the nation," he said. "And North Dakota is just losing guys out of the lineup to injury and BC is just getting guys back. "North Dakota will have their hands full tomorrow night," he said. Oops. Riverman
Anyone else sick of these Hit-Away commercials? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What Hit-away commercials??
Schmitzzz
I was very afraid the Sioux were going to run out of gas in the 3rd period. Our top guys were playing special teams all of the first 2 periods. The Horsemen and the Red Peppers barely got on the ice. And I think it started to show part way through the 3rd. Considering it was their 5th game in 10 days it would be no surprise. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I too was concerned but someone at the game pointed out that these eastern teams aren't used to playing games on back-to-back nights. The WCHA does it every weekend, but not out here. The WCHA is used to having to come back and do it all again the following night.
redwing77
What Hit-away commercials?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But the BIG question is: Will my barber remember me? The Hit Away was an awful commercial too, and so is the RZ Football crap thingy. But even Bosley (quoted above) can't touch McDonalds for stupid. sprig
Am I the only one who thought the holding the stick penalty on BC would have gone the other way if the game would have been reffed by a dumb-aff WCHA ref? (One of my pet peeves on the season.) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> THe call of the game, and Shegos gets it right; don't think an official from anywhere would get that right too often. BC player made it looks good, grab the stick, pull it into your chest, and dive backwards kicking your feet in the air. Could have given him a double for stick holding plus diving. redwing77
Wow. What a performance. Farce Poobah, it is INCUMBENT upon you to caution the team NOT to take any penalties in the Frozen Four. Me too! I feel great for Canady. I thought Greene's first penalty was weak. But thought pretty much every call on the Sioux was deserved. After a while, things started to even up. The charging the goalie call on BU was bogus. Andy was lucky he didn't knock Parise out of the game. The ref caught the BU player hanging onto Marvin's? stick and gave him the holding penalty instead of Marvin the tripping penalty. Great call. People might be upset with Thorne and Clement but what I heard tonite were things like: 1. How aggressive the Sioux are 2. How big and tough the Sioux are 3. How good a defense the Sioux play 4. How good a coach the Sioux have 5. And I heard Clement complain about all the calls against the Sioux in the first period. He just wanted them to be let to play hockey. 6. How impressed they were to see the Sioux laying down to block shots with the game in hand. I heard little to complain about. I was surprised to see Fylling and Marvin did not get much time down the stretch. Seemed Prpich was rotated onto the Horsemen's line. Was also surprised to see Radke play some early in the game. Why was that? Not that I'm complaining. Seemed like he got a shift and that was about it. Geez, I've never been so impressed with our defensemen as I have been this weekend. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm confused. This is, I assume, a recap of the BU contest, but I see some things mixing in from the BC game. First off, the Rooney holding the stick call was during the BC game. He was holding Stafford's stick and everyone (including me) thought Stafford was going to go. (Unrelated note: Drew, buddy you're a great hockey player and I know about the tradition and all, but dude, your beard is UGLY. Think Schneider's trucker's moustache... that looked better than your beard. Think about it. ) Second off, I was far too hard on the commentating crew. I was able to get ahold of myself after the BU game and today, I realized that we had the best pair by far. ANyone know who's doing the frozen four? Third, Radke was playing as the #6 defensemen. When he's done that, he has generally played 1-2 shifts and sat out the rest of the time. Personally, I think that sucks. It's not really fair to Kyle and he's not going to get much out of it. SParingly played players don't have time to adapt to the speed and style of play. Hence, it's not uncommon for them to make mistakes. Besides, when they know that they're going to be benched if they make a mistake and/or after the shift they do get to go out on, some players will only play to not make a mistake instead of playing hard and trying to make things happen. Clement and Thorne stated that most of our rushes start with Nick Fuher or a forward because our defensive defensemen aren't really tuned into the offensive mindset. THough I may not entirely agree, it was apparent during the playoffs. Radke, IMO, could be another Fuher if given the chance. End rant on this. I think the Sioux did indeed coast once during the BC game. That was on the powerplay in the third period. The result? A Spina SHG. I thought Spina was cherry picking, but upon the replay, Spina actually saw BC going to take possession and broke. A long cross ice pass later, and he was in all alone. We should have been sharper and intercepted that pass. I thought I heard Fylling a lot over the past two games. He did spring one of the goals.. can't remember which one, during the BU game. He played well. Marvin, is a role playing forward. He did his job that that's it. Those kinds of players don't really stick out unless the commentators make a point to find them.
