Word on the street is that Phil Kessel, who is being recruited by every hockey school in America and currently is playing for the U.S. under-18 team out of Ann Arbor, Mich., is leaning toward the Gophers. Kessel, a center from Madison, Wis., is expected to make an official recruiting visit to Minnesota in February. He has visited twice unofficially.
