SWSiouxMN Posted February 3, 2022 Share Posted February 3, 2022 UND gave it their best effort against SDSU but fell short once again. The homestand continues against Denver on Thursday Night. Since we last saw DU: The Pios continue to make progess in year 1. While they haven't score any signficiant victories against the top 3 teams, they do have a nice win against Kansas City and then smashed Omaha. Program is starting to make progess under coach Wulbrun. Denver has some talented freshman and some good transfers. Looks like their stay away from Sioux Falls will be a short one and they will be returning to the tournament. Key Player: KJ Hunt The transfer from Morehead State has been very helpful for this young program. Averaging nealy 15 points per game so far this season. The Junior from Little Rock had 20 points against UND in the first matchup in Denver. Other Games: UST (2-6) @ KC (6-4): Could the rigors of D1 play and only playing 8 games last year catching up with the Tommies? Haven't looked like the team from eariler this season. KC is certainly in the mix for a top half finish, but a bad loss to Omaha might affect their chances. WIU (4-6) @ ORU (9-2): ORU trying to keep up with SDSU and keep NDSU at bay. WIU trying to get their non-conference form back. Omaha (3-8) @ NDSU (6-4): Mavs are coming off a nice win against KC, NDSU had a tough one against SDSU. Bison might be starting to get healthy? Mavs could virtually lock up a spot in Sioux Falls with an upset win. Keys: 1) Play with urgency. 2) Slow the freshman down 3) Make the winning plays The Call: Here is the deal. UND has 8 games left, 6 of these games are at home. They are 3 games back of Omaha from the last spot in Sioux Falls. This weekend is bascially the season. If they lose both of these games, they are bascially done and playing the season out for 22-23. However, a sweep can get the back into the race for Sioux Falls. If UND can bring that same urgency as they did against SDSU, they will come away with the win. Denver has improved and whipped UND badly in the game out in Denver.
