DanHFboards
Saw the below post on the WHL board and was wondering if this was a kid you guys were counting on (playing for the Sioux)? Or was he supposed to head to play major junior? Thanks WHL white board
sprig
Everyone expects Toews to go major junior; believe he has said so himself. Unlike BC'ers from years back (who had Parise written in after the Eaves boys went to BC), don't believe anyone here is writing Toews into the Sioux lineup. Seemed that Parise changed the SSM connection from BC (short-lived) to the Sioux, but nothing lasts forever. The most recent SSM Sioux recruits, Chorney and Duncan, are sons of former Sioux. DMT
Nice find Dan. This would be huge...if true. This will give us something else to speculate about over the long summer.
PhillySioux
This is from a few weeks ago. "Jon Toews, the 1st overall pick in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft, has fast tracked his schooling. He will graduate from Grade 12 next season. "He is a very skilled young hockey player," says Parise, "he worked so hard on improving his skating this year. The kid is a warrior. You tell him something once and it's done, you never have to repeat yourself twice." The word on the street is that Toews will be back in Shattuck's next season, although Parise would not confirm that. In fact more and more people are becoming mum on the whole situation. All things said though, sources have told us that Toews will be back in Shattuck next season. We don't believe anything at this point though, and as such hockeyscouting.ca will adopt a wait and see attitude on what will happen. http://www.hockeyscouting.ca/index.php?mod...b&tid=1&pid=
dagies
Agree with Sprig. Even if true, someone with his talent is going to be having their strings pulled until the last moment. So even if he says now he wants to go the NCAA route he easily could have his mind changed before he made it to campus. He's a 2005 recruit at the very earliest, right? sprig
http://www.hockeyscouting.ca/index.php?mod...b&tid=1&pid=790 Interesting to see these highly touted youngsters headed for SSM. Can't be a bad thing (for the Sioux) to have JP heading the SSM program. As far as Toews, would be nice if ITK is correct, but it's little more than a rumor right now (from an unknown unnamed source). It also appears that he's baiting the major junior supporters on that message board to start a NCAA vs major junioir flamefest. Any highly regarded player at SSM will be rumored as possibly becoming a Sioux, because of the recent Sioux recruiting success at SSM, which began with ZParise, and continued with JParise, Stafford, Porter, Smaby, and future Sioux Chorney and Duncan (did I miss someone?). In some ways its not bad the ZPar signed with the Devils after 2 years in college, as it may give top players considering major juniors as the short cut to the NHL something to think about. Goon
http://hockeyscouting.ca/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=82 Here is the link to that discussion. I wish they would do away with the Major Junior hockey rule, its ridiculous. Colby was affected by it. Can you imagine another year Colby playing at UND. tnt
http://www.hockeyscouting.ca/forum/topic.a...C_ID=223鎢 Retired 27 must be a fairly credible source if the administration thinks so. Is that how you read it? Regardless, it is very true that much can change in a year and until he is "signed, sealed and delivered" to college, I'll hedge my bets and cross my fingers.
