The Sicatoka
So today in America we base academic reputation, which is what universities are first and foremost about, by NCAA, National Collegiate Athletic Association, classification? Poor, poor DIIIs MIT and Cal Tech, and Johns Hopkins, and Carnegie Mellon, and RIT, and (get the point?) ...
The Sicatoka
Face it, no one considers UND a D1 school. Face it, NDSU is going the same thing to Michigan and Texas that MSU-Moorhead and UM-Crookston did to NDSU. UND may not be DI across the board in athletics, but the "big time" fans come out to watch just the same. UND: Packin' the house for Goldie and Bucky when they can't do it for each other. CoteauRinkRat
Face it, no one considers UND a D1 school. You guys are living in a dream if you believe that. That kind of unprogressive attitude is what makes ND backwards and resistant to progress. You need to move on with us, or you will be left behind with the Minot State's of education. Nice intelligent post from you again, wow. If no one considers UND a DI school, no one will ever consider NDSU one either. AT least we have 7 DI National Championship bannners to prove that we can play at that level. It will be a very very very long time until NDSU ever has one to raise up to the rafters. Kind of funny how you throw shots at North Dakota, and you live in Wyoming. Talk about a state that still lives in the era of the "Old West". Yeah, I do recall 'SU being mentioned in the same breath as Michigan, Texas, Cal., etc. I think it was by somebody talking about aliens and Elvis ... Always nice to see the Stream Yellow crowd fall back on the same specious arguments that an NC$$ division somehow equates to "academic excellence". I'd rather UND stay closer to D3 "powers" like Chicago, MIT and Johns Hopkins than follow Chaps' turpentine-fueled visions of "grandeur" in playing SoDakState or Cal-State-Nowhere. If he's lacking that much in the pants, it might be cheaper for the Blundering Turd partisans to buy him an H2 and some Viagra, rather than wallowing around in some "D1" backwater conference like the Great Waste. Then again, when the official school drink of 'SU is Prestone, and the "Homecoming Queen" is later mutton on the table, I don't think we can really expect better. updm002
On the one hand I admire the Bison's optimism about their move to D1. The Fargo Forum stated earlier this week how the latest programs to move to d1 have struggled mightily. Somehow they think things will be different in Fargo and Brookings according to the gene taylor. That may be true - only will time will tell but I am highly skeptical. Whenever people tell me that things will be different this time I think back to what many people were saying when the NASDAQ hit 5000 a few years back. The economy and the internet age is going to make things different this time - there will be no crash this time is what many people were saying. Now 3000 pts later on the Nasdaq things aren't so different after all. But somehow things are going to be different in Brookings and Fargo. I tend to doubt it. Also, I would bet the house that we will see the nasdaq at 10000 before we see either sdsu or ndsu in the big dance. They have been waiting 20 years at UMKC for that day and they have access to much better players than the dakotas do. But somehow things will be different this time. There are a lot of financially ruined people who thought that five years ago.

That kind of unprogressive attitude is what makes ND backwards and resistant to progress. You need to move on with us, or you will be left behind with the Minot State's of education. Education. You want to talk Education. The reason for THE ndsu bison's move up is a) jelousy and b) football. I think UND does and will do alright in the education side of things. NDSU has the engineering and that crop and weed science degree I heard was outstanding. UND will just get by with the Med. school, law school, Business school, and that other one where they fly airplanes. I think NDSU needs to catch up with UND in so many areas. We can add hosting playoff games in a dome. Remember it's all about football, the other sports don't matter, the research side is just a cover up, it's all about football. Don't you feel sorry for AMY and TIM? Rumor is that MONT. TECH landing a few dandy recruits. Maybe JBB can fill us in on this.
