darell1976 Posted February 6, 2015 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Season starts tonight in the UIC/Loyola Dome Tournament in Chicago against UIC. The other teams UND plays in the tournament is Miami University, and Loyola tomorrow, then Western Illinois Sunday. Sounds like they played 6 freshman in the starting line-up for the majority of their 4 game tournament last weekend. Wow! There are only six freshmen listed on the current roster. Looks like Coach Stevens is trying to establish a new culture with new blood from the get-go. They are 2-4 on the year so far. Last year, they went 0-14 before they picked up their first W. Here's to better times ahead! I checked and it looked like 4 of the 6 actually started and a fifth on did play the first game. The second game, 5 started and the third and fourth game 5 started and all 6 played (2 of the 6 are pitchers). The two freshman have pitched 22.1 out of 25 innings with a sophomore throwing the other 2.2 innings. Definitely a youth movement.
