kr Posted November 8, 2003 Share Posted November 8, 2003 Does anyone know if the penalty that Troy Riddle received (unsportsman like conduct) at the 20:00 mark of the 3rd period was connected with Drew Stafford's penalty for boarding (given at the same time) -- or was Riddle's penalty for the puck he chopped into section(s) 103/104 when his teammates came out to greet Justin Johnson? I'm assuming that Riddle didn't have the intent to put the puck into the stands, however, there is always a chance it'll go -- most people had started to leave their seats and someone could've received a rather nasty shot to the back of the head -- maybe he didn't realize that there is no netting behind the goals. (Please note, I'm sure he's frustrated and didn't mean ill will, and it isn't like UND fans haven't "showered" opposing teams with cups/pop/etc... at the end of a Sioux loss -- but, generally, the fans aren't wearing helmets and aren't expecting a puck to come into the stands when they are walking out of the arena.)
