Fighting Sioux Fan
Screw Gaborik then and take the five draft picks!!! The deal that he wants is what, three times bigger than what he gets now and would be the biggest contract ever for a player his age in the NHL!!! If he wants to be a little [naughty] about this, ship him out...
ScottM
"While Wild holdout Marian Gaborik was skating informally with the Bucks Unpainted Furniture amateur hockey team the other day at Bloomington Ice Garden, some NHL alumni who were there to work out yelled to him, "What part of $9.5 million don't you understand?" The former NHL players can't understand how Gaborik could turn down a $9.5 million offer from the team, especially considering the NHL's labor deal expires next year." Charley Waters, Pioneer Press Oct. 29, 2003 And this seems to be the underlying thought among alot of the Wild fans I know. IMO Gaborik is getting screwed by his own greedy agents. dagies
More. New agent? http://www.startribune.com/stories/1330/4186903.html To me, this is a very surprising turn of events. Gaborik just stormed out of town, what, 2 days ago saying the Wild wouldn't negotiate, etc? And now he signs? I can only think one of 2 things happened. 1. He listened to agent advice which he didn't like the last couple of days, and finally had enough and went against that advice and signed or 2. His storming was a ploy. He was more than happy to eat crow as long as he gave one last bluff which the Wild called. Since it appeared his pseudo-tantrum was not going to result in additional $, he quickly took the deal offered. I've been wrong on everything else, so I suppose you can rule these two out. redwing77
I hope so. Greedy sports agents are one of the biggest reasons why sports is like it is now. Miserly owners and greedy players are the other reasons. Heck, if it weren't for free agency, do you think we'd be talking about a possible strike next season? It's not all about making the big money, or switching teams (usually).
