Matt Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Any predictions after seeing Dale's team play? A loss to the Sioux may keep them out of the playoffs. Quote
Herd Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 After seeing SIU yesterday, you will not win on the road in Carbondale. They are one of the most athletic FCS teams you will find, they just lost their momentum yesterday, and it's hard to recover from that on the road. I'd very much be surprised by a Sioux win on the road in Carbondale or anyone else in the MVFC. That team is a level above anyone else on your schedule. Quote

homer Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 As much as it pains me to say it I think that the Salukis are going to be a little to athletic for the Sioux. It will be close. I think the game will be more important for the Sioux to see where they need to improve against a very athletic team. It will be a good measuring stick but I'll say the Sioux lose by 7. Quote
gfhockey Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 im as big of sioux homer was anyone but that warner barring any injury will have 25 carrys 200 yards against us... man is he quick and little and elusive. i think we will be able to control there passing game. It didnt look to impressive. If we can wear down there front dline like the bison did yesterday, i think we may have a chance but only if we get the run game established early. Quote

Warner was impressive for a little guy! The Sioux will have a tough time stopping him. Watching the game on TV - Kevin Feeney described him as a "little watermelon seed" squirting through the holes which I thought was an interesting analogy for a BLACK running back but maybe that's just me (anyone else catch that?) SiouxMeNow Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I caught that also, never heard that analogy, seemed awkward in the booth after that one. well YEAH! The analogy itself has racist overtones...I remember a long time ago when Herschel Walker got traded from the Minnesota Vikings....(paraphrasing) News Anchor: "So Minnesota finally got the monkey off their back?" Sports Anchor: "Yeah - the monkeys gone to Philadelphia!" EEEHHHHHH!!!!! I'm not saying...I'm just saying! Quote
GeauxSioux Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I recall back in the '80's Howard Cosell saying something like "That little monkey gets loose" about a Redskin player and really catching hell for it. Cosell was probably one of the least racist people on the planet, but the black community wouldn't let it go. Cosell quit MNF soon after, never to return. Love him or hate him, he was one of the best. Quote
SiouxMeNow Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 the point is...you can't say things like that because...as innocent as it might be - it's PERCEIVED as racist. Now everyone can go take a nap in the bed we've made Quote
