  1. Three of our verbals from the Twin Cities were just named to the All-Metro team by KARE11, the local NBC affiliate. They are:

    • Harry Momoh, LB from Hopkins
    • Carl Engwall, DE from Lakeville North
    • John Santiago, RB from St. Francis

    I am impressed-

Momoh reminds me of Wes Atkinson. Although a little short, explosive and fast off the edge.

  2. I figured a Weber blow-out was gonna happen last week, too...I just didn't post it because I would have been skewered by Shawn-O as a Bison homer again...

Did you pick the Griz to win on a last second field goal......I did.

What's your pick then against NAU?

  3. I always thought Coastal being ranked that high was a joke. EWU gets beat by a PAC 12 team by what, a point and gets beat by a ranked FCS team by 2 points, with their star QB out, but somehow Coastal Carolina, who have played nobody, is ranked higher. LMAO.

Coastal should maybe be ranked around 15. Whatever Harvard is at, right around there.

I think we all get it.  Just a ballpark but Coastal might be 5-6th best team if in the MVFC and 3rd-4th best team if in BSC.  What does it really matter to NDSU because they can easily outbid the current teams higher than them for home field, doesn't it work that way??  Anyway, your boys will be in the playoffs and we'll be full time recruiting in 2 weeks.  I suppose it sucks walking around day with 4 fingers up instead of the normal #1.........

  4. 23 - Weber

    16 - UND

Another pistol, zone read offense, with the ability to pass.  We've been smoked the last 2 games facing something similar.  Weber's been close in quite a few games.  Weber has athletes in secondary, and won't respect any pass game, therefore will stack the box and we'll be stubborn running into it.  I don't know how we can score enough to win.  If we don't score on D or special teams, I'm going with a loss.  I hope to be dead wrong.......yours truly- Negative Nelly

  5. There's always a need to paint one side as the good guy in this stuff, and one party as the bad guy.

When a program is in transition like this, I don't think there is necessarily a good or bad guy.

Some parts just don't fit the new machine and it is time for both to move on.

We can safely say there was a good and a bad.  The WR position group meetings are 'much more enjoyable' and 'have some positivity and energy'. -anonymous source

  6.

Looks to me like he wants to party, smoke pot, and act like an idiot.  Coaches have a name for guys like that, 'Soft'.

If it's health or family related scratch my first comment and I'm sorry-  But look at the photo.

  7. So can we assume Bartles has a season ending injury too?

Best info I have is a sprained shoulder, somewhere between a grade I and grade II on throwing shoulder.  If you google search it will tell you what the grades are.

  8. Sounds like an In/Out of Network type of thing to me.  Or something along those lines.  They obviously did not mark up their stuff that much.

In/Out of network wasn't on my mind with screaming infant.  It's all so FUBARed now with the games insurance companies play and OBumma Care. (I thought he said it would lower costs.........I guess that was a lie cause my coverage more than doubled)

  9. Absolutely. If I had to apply a simplistic way of thinking to the recruiting as a way to improve UND football, it would be to recruit locally (ND, MN, MB, WI, etc.) and get the kids to buy in and use all their years of eligibility at UND.

That was Mussman's issue; just too much attrition. If Bubba can get all of his recruits to stick around and develop, it will create good depth and produce championship caliber teams. It worked for him at UMD.

For example, if UND didn't lose all of the departures over the last couple years, UND might not be so bad (more depth at WR and CB). If all these true freshmen playing now stick around and play together as juniors and seniors, UND will be very competitive and perhaps good.

Talent and depth will cure a lot of frustrations.  We have to go out and see what's their for FBS/JUCO guys more so the next 2-3 years or until.......we don't need to do that.  We'll see how connected Maurice is this off season, he's a good guy.  I think the success Tillman has had will help with FBS guys next year.  Plus, the guy from the Gophers, Jordan, he has 2 more years to develop and has been a plus for the program.  The positive with FBS guys is they know what to expect with a structured program.  With JUCOs, well they are in JC for a reason.....so it's between picking winners and 'losers'-  The staff worked a minor miracle given the time frame last year.  I hope we don't get smoked the rest of the year cause that could affect recruiting.

  10. its about supporting small business in ND.  What do you want it to be....id rather pay a few extra bucks and know that money stays in Grand Forks/ my hometown to continue to be spent in the local economy, not to corporate headquarters in Arkansas.

Like the $180.00 they tried charging my wife and I at CVS in N. Fargo for our son who just ruptured his ear drum....or the $12.00 we ended up paying at the Moorhead Wal-mart.  I understand supporting small business but this experience seriously pissed me off.  Vote yes on #7!!

  11. Studsrud is in good health in spite of the stitches to close the view of his knee cap. Rudolph has had a live look now and I expect a modification of the play book and play calling as opposed to further simplification. As far as our defense......Weber might be winless, but they are not blind. The D should expect to be spread out and see the ball in the air. What defense shows up Saturday, anyone's guess, but it will be better.

  12. Looking at the polls I don't see a team that's going to give the Bison a run, especially with home field throughout.  For the Bison guys, how many road playoff games have the Bison won in the last 4-5 year stretch?  Was there a win before the Eastern Washington loss?  It's a hell of an advantage.

The good thing for UND is home field hasn't seemed to mean much for Sioux/Bison games.  The bad thing for UND we might be dipping into our cheer squad with all the injuries.

  13. Stop defending this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

apparently you and Bubba are the only two in the USA that would do something so stupid...

I'd be #3 in very limited game conditions.  I remember UND doing it before and I think it was against USD in the 90's at Memorial with 40 mph gusts and sideways rain.  With a good defense you pin the offense on a 3 and out, and that game, punts were almost going backwards.  So, lighten up, it's been done before on a very limited basis.  I think in the SUU game the weather didn't quite warrant doing it though.

  14. I think everyone agrees that the o-line is not where it needs to be, but the fact that Jer Garman has averaged 4.5 yards per carry the last two games (43 carries for 194 yards), even with no threat of a passing game in one of those games, tells me that at least the line is improving as a run-blocking unit.

Although defenses tend to get a little relaxed with 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 touchdown leads.....and the backups start playing.  I'd like to see good rushing numbers in a closer game.

  15. We seem to be out of juice. I don't know if we can win again this year. We had a bye week and fell apart, very frustrating. Weber wants a win, just saw two spread teams eat us up.......if they score some points it won't be good.

  16. Saw Bartels had his helmet on almost the whole game. Looked like he was anxious to get in?

How njured is he? Is it possible that the coaching staff is just moving along with their recruit?

His throwing shoulder is hurt. He was available to hand the ball off, not that we did much on O anyway.

  17. Anyone know what to expect from the true freshman? How is his mobility, accuracy, and arm strength. Most importantly how is the mental side of his game?

Kinda like a Kelby. A little short and a little light for fbs standards, but has that type of talent. That came from a UND guy under Muss.

  18. Our strength and conditioning staff is very good. Baukol and Schwenzfeier are top notch. The problem in the Mussman era was players weren't giving their all which kept them from getting the results they could have. I've heard that the last two classes have great work ethics unlike the previous ones which only had a few guys committed to strength and conditioning. Part of the reason NDSU is having such success is because their players are all in for strength and conditioning which translates directly onto the field.

We don't put salt in our gator aid, huge disadvantage. (sarcasm)
