  1. Darrell1976,

There is no point in arguing this. You are wrong, as usual.

You want the game because you think beating NDSU is your key to success. Nothing wrong in admitting it.

The only way you can become legit is playing NDSU, I'm sure Incarnate Word is taking that to the bank!!  You are a delusional narcissistic prick.  I know at least 50 NDSU fans.......not by choice but through business.  And, I do a home and away with a few NDSU guys most years, like this year.  I don't know 1 NDSU guy that is against playing UND every year.  But I guess I hang out with real fans that are real men, which is more than I can say about you.

  2. I guess I don't want to play UND anymore because I don't see anything to gain out of it. Look at recruiting right now. NDSU is dominating ND and Minnesota FCS talent.

If the rolls were reversed, why would you even want to give NDSU the sniff of an opportunity to gain credibility through a win? Not saying I am scared. I am very confident NDSU will crush UND next year, but stranger things have happened.

I think there is also a small fraction of fans who want UND to burn for as long as possible for ending the rivalry in 2003 when we moved up. You guys can point to the whole D2 wins playoff argument but the fact simply is that the rules for D2 playoff games were changed that summer. Admit it or not, Roger Thomas thought he would be burying NDSU buy not playing them. It turned out to be the exact opposite . I guess a lot of NDSU fans don't feel like helping UND out by giving you a shot at getting a jump start for your program, when UND would not help NDSU out when we struggled to find games. For the record I am not one of those guys. I don't dwell on the past.

The whole state would gain something from it.  Have you ever watched the NFL films bit on the UND/NDSU rivalry.  If not go ahead and google it, watch it, then see what you think about the game.

  3. I don't go on BV but it sounds like that is the opinion there too.  I've seen some Facebook posts from people in the past year saying they'd rather NDSU play other schools and not waste their time with UND.  Then I also this past February when I was with my long time HS friend who went to NDSU about if the rivalry should be renewed, and just kinda shrugged and was like.....ehh, basically saying that nah we are past you guys and there is nothing good in it for us anymore.  And this is a close friend who we went to the two schools in maybe the best part of the rivalry...early 90's who lived some of those great games so I thought he would agree it would be awesome to have that game back, and even he didn't really want it back. I agree UND-FB-FAN......they will always be our biggest rival.   Out of teams we play regularly now I would say our biggest rival is easily Montana, but that doesn't come close to the UND-NDSU rivalry.

NDSU fans saying the rivalry with UND is gone or doesn't mean anything is just idiot speak.  Valley News had a story last night on the big NDSU/SDSU rivalry for a lame rock and it wasn't even believable.  For the new comers (mostly the elitist Bison fans that jumped on the Band Wagon 4 years ago even though they graduated from Concordia) and for those with short memories the game next year will bring things back to life.

  4. With all due respect to the student-athlete, Hanson is terrible. He's not even close to a DI QB. He's more of a local relations player due to his Grafton roots. I'm guessing Bubba and his staff have absolutely no confidence in Hanson's ability, and quite frankly, I don't blame them.

If Bartels can't go, Srudsrud should be the guy. You ALWAYS play the best and ALWAYS try to win. It's not fair to the seniors to play an incapable player if he's not the best on the roster.

As Bubba has said, you always do whats best for the TEAM! Not individuals.

You nailed it. You don't crap on the team, especially the seniors to 'save' a shirt. If we put Hanson out to run our Stoney Brook offensive package for 4 games we wouldn't be able to look ourselves in the mirror and say we did our best.

  5. I have to defend North Dakota all the time - dissing other communities is immature and classless. As many times as North Dakota gets cheap shotted all around the country by people who have never been there we should know better.

So no opinions of communities in North Dakota.......thanks Sheriff.  I'm sure Glen is offering romantic canoe rides as we speak to recruits.

  6. That would contradict what the Insiders bloggers put out (however, upon further review they are hedging talking about "dinged" and wanting to see how practice goes Tuesday).

Maybe depends if it is his throwing shoulder or not. In theory, one could play with an injured shoulder, non throwing arm, would be gutsy.

  7. So its fine to impugn me but your gonna defend 89rabbit to the end.  Got it.  Your lawyer training makes it all right?

89rabbit was likely a scam artist through and through that had his wife do the dirty deed and take the fall for him.  He gets a Disney cruise and a family vacation on other peoples stolen credit, but he says that he doesn't know where the funds came from?  "She" had done it before.

Must have been awfully embarrassing to have a couple like 89rabbit with his wife in charge of the SDSU alumni group.

That gives a different meaning to the word "Jack"- or should it be "Jacked".

  8. I have a few friends that played for NDSU, but who UND wanted bad. One was recruited under Lennon and the other 2 under Muss.

What Joe Glen said closely resembled what they told me about their visits with UND. They said more time was spent trying to convince them why NDSU and SDSU sucked rather than time spent discussing the program at UND.

That's a joke bro. I haven't heard a coach from UND say a bad word about any program......and I have prodded the last 20 years. Get lost.

It was one sentence dropped into a 10 minute love affair with FU their MVC buddy. Can't see a tired curmedgeon like Joe G being able to turn things around at USD.  I like UND's path for football much better.

Always a spot at Courtney's Comedy Club for Joe. I hope he gets his lockjaw checked out today after blowing the Bison that hard and long.

  10. I have accepted the youth, inconsistency, average talent, lack of depth, and a coaching staff with little experience in the Big Sky and 1 late/partial year recruiting. Maybe 1 or 2 more wins this year and continue the rebuild. I am still optimistic about the next few years.

  11. I imagine his pregame speech was a motivator. If I was a recruit I would really question the program, staff and support.

Vermillion is a dump, it has to be a tough place to recruit. I don't think the 12 people listening to his press conference are going to matter.

  12. Bartles is capable. He faces same challenges Joe did. Receivers don't always run right route and don't always catch ball. Don't have as much time as some of you think sometimes. The offensive issues aren't and haven't been the QB. If Bartels can bring us back, he starts and with Joe hurt he probably starts anyway.

Reason fake punt there isn't bad call is cuz no one else thought we should fake it either and it should have gone. I didn't like taking wind and giving up ball to start game but I understand it. Defense hasn't adjusted to Mountain time.

Bartels throws off his back foot a lot and uses a lot of arm, but he makes it work.

  13. About Sharp, or any other player, the answer is the same.  The coaches will play the player that gives them the best chance to win, judged by them.  So ability and performance are the criteria, mixed in with character.  We have a punter that 'didn't tell the truth about his eligibility' yet talent wise is a better punter than the freshman.  And, we have someone on the d-line with talent, but with some character issues, and his playing time has been affected.  With Sharp, I don't know of any character issues, so I have to conclude the coaches are more confident in the other backs as far as ability and performance.

  14. Two quick questions for you.

1.) Has the 7th best conference in the FCS, according to the Sagarin rankings, ever had 4 teams in the playoffs?

2.) Has a team that was unranked and not receiving a single vote, in either the coaches poll or Sports Network poll,  as of Week 10, ever went on to then make the playoffs?

You do understand what 'Extremely Hypothetical' means in this case, correct?   It's not like the topic is named 'Playoffs Here We Come!!'

  15. UND should be able to run the ball, SUU is 81st in scoring defense and 2nd to last in Rush Defense.  They are horrible against the rush.  Giving up over 270 yards a game on the ground.

That number might be a little skewed as Cal Poly put up 470 (going off memory) rushing yards or something crazy against SUU......and that's an unconventional running attack.  But overall point taken, we should be able to muster at least 150/ground, 150/air, or it will be a disappointment.

  16. It might be different if Shaugs can consistently get into the mix.

I hope he is back in the mix, but we are still running behind a Barry Sanders type line......that hopefully evolves into an Emmit Smith type line the next few years.

  17. You can try to be a "clock chewing, run defense" first team all you want, but in reality UND is not one. They have virtually zero run game.

I think for the most part if a defense wants to shut down our run game, they will, cause we don't have the horses to force it down anyone's throat.  Like an old CEO told me, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't shove his head in it."  That said, I think Rudolph has accepted this to a point and starting taking more yards via the pass.  Opening up the passing game may open up the run game......we'll see.  I'd like to think we could run or pass on Southern Utah cause they haven't stopped either.

  18. About the game - Southern Utah, last 3 games has passing yards of 402, 434, and 528 in the most recent loss.  UND only had 503 total yards in its last 2 games combined (Griz and Portland St.) to add some perspective.  Point being, Southern Utah might not even bother with running the ball, I wouldn't if I were them.  We really need our offense to chew up the clock and yards, and capitalize with TD's on drives.  If we lay an egg offensively we'll be in trouble.  Definitely an interesting matchup with their passing yards and if we are susceptible on defense, it's the passing defense.  I think the whole secondary is due for some picks.

note to Schmitty:  watch #6 out of the backfield on wheel route, don't get caught in man-to-man with LB

  19. We have 4 dog fights left on the schedule and an Eastern Washington game in which we're a 2-3 touchdown dog.  Here's to biting and scratching the rest of the year-

  20. Students have a lot more on their plate then a few years ago. Many students find they are better off in the long run working, studying, or being apart of UND programs such as Chi Alpha, Studio One, Club sports, or student gov then spending all day at a game. Also when people do have off time, they want to attend a party like event to cool off such as at the Ralph.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I am pretty sure students want to drink cheap beer and not be hassled, and live life through a smart phone.

  21. Maybe more donations right now could up the bells and whistles and attract recruits even more. See the hockey locker room.... Imagine if this could even be in the same ballpark as the hockey locker room...

We need a uniform contract in a bad way. Kids want to look good, cool, whatever you want to call it.
