  1. Was the Concordia charter plane full again this year?

Yes, the Concordia alums are all there.....blowing up my wife's facebook.  Not to mention the gals that don't know who SU is playing.  It's best to not even look for about a week until the Frisco photos dry up, hopefully with a Red Bird victory.  And I hope they get freezing rain during the game.

  2. If I have to hear one more time about how this is good for the state and for UND and why I should chear them on I will be sick. It's like a Florida gators alumni cheering for Florida state in a title game, makes no sense.I will be cheating for NDSU to get smoked just like I have th last 3 years.....makes me sick.

That's why I have an Illinois State t-shirt primed and ready for the Sioux Hockey game tomorrow.  I know my buddy will be sporting a ISU shirt, too. #real fans-

  3. Adidas supplies Big Ten schools such as Wisconsin, Michigan, and Nebraska and they have kept all of those uniforms clean, traditional, and looking good. I'd imagine Bubba will be able to get clean looking unforms similar to what the team wore in 2001.

Home and away 'traditional' look for this year, with an alternate uniform the following year is the deal.  From what I know Bubba prefers a throw-back gray look over the black jersey.  Glad the info has come out-

  4. Must be a decent recruit. I wonder which coach is there

    Schmitty-

Might hear something tonight good......or maybe heartbreak city.  A PWO offer at Oregon is impressive, but I bet the student loans and cost of tuition would be 'impressive', too.

  5. 6'3'' and 235lbs but can only bench 205? This kid needs to find himself a weight room and fast!

Yes, needs some strength, but he plays stronger than his numbers. I assume he gets a workout program this summer and will likely redshirt, so maybe a late bloomer, with 20 months to figure it out. A quick strength story......Phil Hanson and a few others while in college spoke to my high school team. Phil confessed to only benching 185 heading into SU as a freshman.

  6. I didn't notice he's a juco. I was thinking he was a high school kid with 4.4 speed. If I remember right Moore was under 4.4 as well around his Junior year.

Ya, Phil was in high 4.3's his junior year....did get a little slower his senior year.

We have another coach driving to Michigan right now....I hope whoever is worth the drive.

  7. Any names or potentials for another JUCO or FBS transfer at RB?

We have offers to DJ Peluso, Kryston Hammon, Taz Bateman who fit that category. And a couple HS in Romontay Hill, Awarri Smith and Tyree Range.

Maybe a player or two not mentioned, also.  If I were an RB and had the chance at 20+ carries a game......I'd be interested.

  8. I did some research concerning the stable of stallions-  Word on the UAB kid is he's an angry runner....I like the sound of that.

Simmons has applied for a hardship, and the NCAA looks at these on a case by case basis.  I think he has a good case.  That said, his shoulder isn't healing as well as the Dr's would like and it's up in the air as to his status going forward.  With that, we hope to bring in another 2015 football ready running back from JUCO or FBS ranks, much to the dismay of queenranch.

  9. I agree with unproven but I think collectively the unit will be better than last year simply because they are the kind of runners that fit the system we are trying to instill here.  It take a few games to get into and I think Simmons starts simply because he was in the system last year.  But with Simmons Arrington and either one of the freshman or another JUCO it has potential to be a solid group with more potential than last year.

Agreed, I will take what we have going compared to last year. With all the wisdom floating around here, Simmons played 6-7 quarters of ball last year before his injury.......and chance of a hardship, meaning 2 years eligibility left?
  10. I don't think there's enough solid info public to know who it is 100% but I know for sure Arrington was suppose to be on campus with Rabb. That is why I'm leaning towards Arrington.

I also think Daniels is going to be a good player and if we get him I think that would be the extent of RBs for us. With Simmons, potentially Arrington, Olivera, Santiago, Sharp (who I think has the potential to leave) and Daniels gives us a lot more options than we're had before. Though I could see one of the potentially 3 Freshman red shirting and bringing in one more JUCO.

With all those RBs listed 1 word comes to mind......unproven.  That's not saying a guy can't have a break-out year, but this position will be a big question mark until game day.  I hope to see one more JUCO or FBS option at RB, and that is with the assumption Arrignton is on board.  Unless Sharp is packing on the muscle and increasing agility and toughness, he's not an option.

  11. Very few teams in the FCS  have the scholarship money that UND has this year.

I made that point before that with limited scholarships things even out. SU has an established roster taking up money, without infinite scholarships, you run out of money trying to keep upper classmen happy while having enough to get all the recruits you want. I am surprised Ellefson is the #8 player in MN, I think that is too high given the competition. As always, just an opinion and recruiting is part speculation with projection, hope, and wishful thinking.

  12. Momoh will be an OLB coming off the edge......a lot.

The inexact science of recruiting. In the 90's UND had a highly touted Mask kid and a guy that was second fiddle, Riendeau. Just one of so many examples of how all teams miss on big recruits and hit on lesser recruits. It seems like the Thielen kid from DL was missed although UND and NDSU were told the kid is a late bloomer. UND probably had to take a few 'flyers' last year considering the time table. I expect this recruiting class to be more of a foundation for years to come.

  13. We should be able to discuss FU on a UND fan site without having hordes of FU fans responding, defending and deflecting every comment. I would be very willing to take on moderating. However know that my philosophy would be that this is a UND fan site, created for UND fans to discuss UND sports. Guests are welcome as guests not as trolls living in the basement. You can PM if you want my assistance.

I have only been following Sioux Sports Forum for around a year, posting less than a year. But I do have good connections and would prefer to converse with fellow supporters and not hear from the SU 1% club, which consists of the most arrogant and annoying. I am in favor of some monitoring. And with that I will await the responses from the idiots on how UND fans are more arrogant and annoying........

  14. Orange jacket and white hat at middle of the field celebration, that's me.

Big fist fight the night before the game in bar parking lot against Grand Valley Alum, me too.

    Good times-

  15. Did I argue that neutral site games were the same as road games? NDSU is undefeated in road playoff games in their D1 FCS Championship seasons. That is a fact. What was the point you were trying to make with your original quote, which could be misleading to those who were not aware that NDSU had EARNED home field advantage throughout the playoffs each of their FCS Championship seasons? Your quote has as much meaning as saying UND is undefeated against NFL teams.

Yep, no doubt you earned it and should be proud.  NDSU has reached the status of Montana in which every benefit will be given to these 2 teams to ensure either a bye or first round home game.  I have no problem with this, it's earned on the field and with ticket sales.

But, UND hasn't played an NFL team and never will.  NDSU has played 2 road play-off games, 1-1, and will eventually play another road play-off game.  That's the difference.  To point out it's hard to play on the road vs. 12 or so home play-off games is just a fact.  I don't know why some SU guys monitoring this site are so insecure about this.  I am done pointing out the facts.  Time to go pheasant hunting with the Cogswell Cannon.  Roll Bearkats!!

  16. Hate to tell you this, but from a players stand point if you arent playing at home---its a road game. Plain and simple. All you are doing is splitting hairs for the sake of a BS argument.

Plus FYI I have never known anyone who has voiced an opinion on this subject such as yours. EVER. The reasons are obvious which just makes you look foolish.

Mr. Thin Skin, want to put some money on it. We could have it fact checked. Sports analysts, coaches, and players talk every week about home field advantage. I don't need a lecture on what players think.

  17. Bison Championship seasons, zero road victories and counting!!  No one with a brain considers neutral site games road games.  We are beating a dead horse on this point.

The last Big Sky road playoff win, was in 2008- they have lost 8 home playoff games during that stretch.

During the same time frame the MVFC has  6 road playoff wins and 2 home playoff losses.

    Left turn Clyde-

  18. Since you're saying NDSU has won zero road playoff games "in this stretch", I'm assuming you mean during the run of 3 consecutive national championships.  If that is what you are referring to, then to stay away from the neutral/road game debate, I would say that NDSU is undefeated in road playoff games during this stretch.  Whether you say a neutral site game is a road game or not, there is no arguing that NDSU has not lost a road playoff game during the stretch that you appear to be referring to.

Bison Championship seasons, zero road victories and counting!!  No one with a brain considers neutral site games road games.  We are beating a dead horse on this point.

  19. Billy Turner was a Big 10 player straight out of high school, the guy started as a true freshman. The coaches were amazed they got him, any Bison fans that try to convince themselves otherwise are fooling themselves. No chance Kill lets him leave the state, Billy was a classic example of Brewster not being able to evaluate talent that doesn't have four or five stars next to his name. If he lived in Wisconsin or Iowa, those coaches don't let him leave the state.

Kill has been doing a solid job at keeping these players, Ben Lauer would be one example.

    Gasp for air!!!

You mean the Bison didn't mold Turner from a lump of crap into an NFL player!!

Current players all said he was the best athlete on the team....could throw the ball 70 yards was one interesting tidbit.

Thanks for your honest and very reliable post.
