  1. You are probably right...however Jones did red-shirt Juco Salmonson a few years back
  2. Solomon at 12 pts and 6 boards a games ,maybe the 3rd best numbers on an average at best Juco team.. Did not have any other offers listed. and was only HM all Scenic West...not really the chops for a decent D1 prospect. Highlight films are interesting but not a player evaluation tool like unedited game film. Maybe Jones will red shirt him or maybe Jones was in need of a warm body.
  3. who is out?? Cashman and Baker?
  4. Solomon Rolls-Tyson(JUCO)(VC) ....lasted UND commit....6'8"
  5. Guard Wheeler Baker, who sat out last season after transferring from Albany, will also be eligible in the 2016-17 season. .... eligible means he his on the team..as far as Tom Miller knows
  6. Tom Miller writes that Baker is still on board.... At DMACC, McGinn said he played Kinsey off the ball to facilitate his scoring ability. In close games down the stretch, however, Kinsey played the point. "He has a cerebral sense of basketball and that will help make this transition," McGinn said. "He understands what it takes to play at the Division I level." In 2016, DMACC finished 15-10 overall and 2-10 in conference play. Kinsey was one of two Division I-bound players on the team. Baylee Steele, a 6-foot-11 center, is headed to Eastern Michigan. Kinsey joins an experienced backcourt at UND, which returns starters Quinton Hooker and Geno Crandall and part-time starter Corey Baldwin. Guard Wheeler Baker, who sat out last season after transferring from Albany, will also be eligible in the 2016-17 season.
  7. best pancakes this side of Leavenworth Federal Prison
  8. bringing jucos is fine ...nothing to cry about....Looks like Baker bolted Zero reason for him to show up at UND if baker was staying Kinsey playing at the D2 juco level did not shoot very well....59% from the line which sucks for a guard and average 35% from the 3. Did have about a dozen low D1 offers including a couple IVY leagues schools...per verbal commits. https://youtu.be/K6MBe_f7h1w Strengths: This guy was built to slash, but what differentiates him is that his driving game is going to translate to the next level very well. He's not just quick but also low to the ground, capable of creating tempo in the open floor or attacking either side in the half-court. He's aggressive with his attack and constantly able to get into the paint but yet difficult to draw charges on because of his quick reactions. Weaknesses: He's an attacker not a facilitator, yet he needs the ball in his hands so there is a question about what position he plays. He doesn't show much confidence in his jumper and prefers isolation's to ball-screens and so he's fairly one dimensional with his attack, and also doesn't give nearly the same level effort on the defensive end. Bottom Line: There are a lot of driving playmakers out there but not a lot of them whose game projects well at the next level. Kinsey is that guy and if he can become a little more of a threat with his jumper and buy into the defensive end of the floor, he'll have a lot of versatility at the right level. ESPN had him about a top 550 kid coming out of High School
  9. Cashman a fish/wildlife management major and not likely to entertain any D1 offers if he transferred...probably ok with the free ride at a school with his major and riding the pine. UND may reserve the right to release him based on academic progress..... While looking for a live body is pragmatic at this point in time bringing in juco kid who is likely to be the 4th guard on the depth chart assuming Baker stays may not be the right move from a team chemistry perspective
  10. Looking at twitters...Brown is coming...Baldwin looks UND strong. Avants twitter is shut down...Cashman is a possible attrition . Hopefully not Baker leaving because they brought in Stewart.
  11. somebody must be leaving to open up a scholarship for another player....
  12. Shanks fouls at a very high rate, on the rare occasions where he is not pulled for fouls or production issues he is ok not good just ok. Doubt he has the motor to play over 25 minutes per game...
  13. UND is a Hockey School NCAA D1 champs no other program at any other BSC comes close to UND hockey .UND hockey program by itself surpasses the cumulative success of any BSC school athletic program...so much for BSC final sports rankings
  14. 6'1 per his bio at Creighton
  15. Strengths: Stewart is a true point guard that brings good size and strength to the position. He is a crafty finisher on the break and when he attacks the rim in the halfcourt. Stewart has a tight handle which allows him to beat his defender and deliver the ball on time and on target in drive, draw and kick or drop off situations. He can knock down the open three as well. Stewart has very good overall upside. Weaknesses: Stewart will need to continue to develop as a leader and be more consistent in addition to working on be a better on ball defender all in which he is very capable. Bottom Line: Stewart is a mid major plus point guard that can play high major in the right system because of his size, playmaking ability and he can keep the defense honest by making the open jumper with range to the arc. Stewart has the tools to be a very good college point guard and immediate contributor. 6-3, 190 | Class of 2015 HometownRock Island, Iowa SchoolNorth Scott High School PositionPoint Guard StatusSigned Creighton 09/22/2014 Scout Grade 76 53 POSITION 61 REGIONAL 1 STATE
  16. some clown coach/coaches prevented Q from being a consensus first team all BSC selection
  17. Head coach Tod Kowalczyk’s transformation of the University of Toledo men’s basketball program is complete as he enters his fifth season at the helm of the Rockets.
  18. Charlotte, N.C. -- Samaritan's Feet International proudly announces that Brian Jones, head men's basketball coach for the University of North Dakota, has been selected as the 2016 "Barefoot Coach of the Year." Jones will be presented with the award at the Legends of Hardwood Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, April 2 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in conjunction with the Final Four. Coach Jones has coached a game barefoot during the past four basketball seasons to help create awareness for the Samaritan's Feet cause and has also had his teams participate in local shoe drives where the players and staff members have washed the feet of those in need.Coach Jones has demonstrated the five pillars of being a barefoot coach: giving a voice to the voiceless, creating awareness for Samaritan's Feet, providing shoes to impoverished children, enhancing the image for coaches, schools, athletes, and the NCAA through courageous efforts, and providing multiple opportunities to engage people in a life of service."I'm honored and humbled to receive this award that so many outstanding coaches have also earned," Jones said. "Serving is a big pillar of our program at the University of North Dakota and Samaritan's Feet is a great way to show our team the importance of serving others. This platform is a way to get young people to be a part of something that is bigger than themselves."The Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast now stands as one of the premier events during the NCAA Final Four weekend. The 20th annual event is hosteed by CBS Sports' Clark Kellogg and Spencer Tillman of Fox Sports 1. The Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast recognizes the importance of leadership, character and integrity and honors heroes in the world of sports.
  19. I see Brown as a D2 kid ,hopefully focusing on one sport will up is game and prove me wrong...that being said red shirting a kid who is in over his head could tie up a scholly for 5 years vs 4. Kienan looks like a stretch 4 too slim to get time at the 5. Could get ahead of Collins in the rotation and see time at the 4. I would like to see Avants spend more time at the 4 and less at the 5
  20. probably a walk on as a rs soph also... will have to earn a scholly on the court. Jake not going to turn getting a low D1 kid for free. Nothing wrong with turning down a free ride and serious PT to pay your own way and spend more time on the pine in order to be closer to family
  21. Like to pick up a 3 rather than playing a guard there...or if they are really lucky a 5 who is ready. Riley Dearing is a MPLS. kid who left Wisc and maybe looking to drop in class. With the ability to offer full cost of attendance I would expect a solid pick up
  22. Probably not big on playing the 3, Baker probably slightly ahead of him at the 2...that being said he was getting serious minutes as a frosh ..Not a good bet to get more PT at UNI. a top notch Mo. Valley team... That along with Drake did not offer him.. Doubt if he will have much too chose from at the D1 level unless he starts as a PWO......Maybe Augustana
