tom miller seems to think Jones is going to be one of those exceptionally rare lame duck coaches this season, If a contract is not signed next week I believe miller is correct. If Jones cannot sign a coveted recruit with his last open tender he should hold it for the 2017/2018 staff not sign any more iffy prospects..... I would guess Jones needs to win the BSC or BSC tourney in order to keep his employment at UND if he enters the season in a lame duck status

by March I was referring prior to their senior year beginning...also a new coach will have full aau open periods to recruit..this is when players and coaches get down to business. When you get kids with 0-2 other D1 offers junior year contacts are of modest...Moody does not know who is HC will be when he arrives...as Jones has no contract for 17-18

well with only 2 seniors on team that is minimized ...most of the guys they signed were not offered prior to march of their senior year...most serious contact occurs later on

with only one open offer to fill and Jones in the final year of contract there is no compelling reason to give jones a contract extension for recruiting purposes

actually easier to slip under the radar in football than hoops. Kids get exposure on the AAU circut. NDSU saw a ton of this kid but did not offer. No problem with this offer however Billy Brown is another kid coming in with only one offer. Not a good trend .

Frankens only D1 offer AND with only 2 open spots and 15 other offers out this guy looks like a guy they will sign. .... my take is that the feedback from others kids offered not too strong therefore a kid with only one D1 offer this late looks like a pretty good bet

according to your logic Jones would have been canned years ago... If you could read I never said Jones had a 100% of coaching UND 2017/2018 therefore Like I said earlier to some extent Jones as well as many other coaches are coaching for the jobs ....not really a big deal it happens quite often

In the unlikely event UND hangs Jones out to dry by not giving him an extension ... pretty much sticking a dagger in his back as far as this year recruiting is concerned, than logic would dictate the Jones is very very much coaching to save his job and in need of a top 2 finish in the league or winning the tourney. More likely Jones get an extension the and coaching to save his job rhetoric is nothing unlike a position he has been in before and one that is not uncommon to the profession and therefore a rather lame point of discussion

Avants or Shanks could go either way... Avants got some starts late close call but I lean to Shanks to start but pretty much share the job. Like Seales to move into the starting 5.

Per Tom Miller... Now, the question every diehard UND basketball fan seems to want to know is what this means for the remaining roster. Based on scholarship limits, UND doesn’t appear to have a scholarship available for Rolls-Tyson. That tells me either someone from the 2015-16 team is transferring or someone’s scholarship is getting pulled. I’ve asked around about details, but haven’t had much success pinning down the roster shuffle...... So the Scholarship situation is still hush hush No word from verbal commits on any UND kids transferring out and signing elsewhere. Baker would probably go Juco or D2 if he left and did not want to sit out another season. Cashman might complete his degree as a walk on or drop to non D1 level.. Since they added 2 nice guard pick ups Kinsey and Stewart it appears that Baker is done. Cashman did not cut the mustard in the classroom last year and is likely a 3rd or 4th option at the 5 so Jones likely pulled his scholarship.
