It is simple... Berry can coach until Christmas break, then we fire him.  Give the head coaching gig back to Hak for the 2nd half of the season and then fire him after winning the NCHC tourney.  After that, Dane Jackson can then sit back and take all the credit for hanging number 9.

Or............ load up a team chock full of NHL talent,  let Dane win it his first season, and declare Berry a failure.

I would make the following comparison with B1G teams vs. NCHC teams playing against North Dakota as far as both better attended games and larger viewing audience which in turn translates to more dollars for all. Every B1G team beats out a certain NCHC team, which is pretty amazing in a comparison! Price per game seat could also be added to this comparison.

    Minnesota      >   Denver

    Wisconsin      >   St Cloud

    Michigan        >   Duluth

    Michigan St   >   W Mich

    Ohio St          >    Miami

    Penn St         >    CC

    Notre Dame >    Omaha

Yes UND as an affiliate would have to get a cut from the B1G on viewership because UND would help all schools in the following ways:

    Attendance

Viewership from all teams (Also, a lot of UND alumni from MN to Penn St. would watch the BTN more)

Bring the B1G to eight, which would generate more interest, better conference.

Get to play every team home and away, each one weekend a season.

UND would energize some old fans of the previous 5 WCHA teams.

Be a conference known for owning the Natty's.

Bring in more Larger Networks for various games.

Ohhh!   Faison wouldn't be around to kill the deal. Kennedy would help make it work.

     Kennedy won't be around either.

  3.  I'm not burning the wagon yet.  This season is a disappointment, no doubt, but it would look very different with a junior Brock Boeser and sophomore Tyson Jost, with losing Jost especially hurting because we could use him at center as well as pp. While we have some over aged kids coming, who are off the radar, I'm okay with this, and I'm extremely intrigued by Weatherby.

As much as I loved Sioux hockey while at UND I reluctantly agree it’s time to embrace the Fighting Hawks even if it’s not what I would have voted for. These players are young and barely remember even the last Olympics. They probably on average don’t care about the name

They were recruited as Hawks and wear the jersey. It would be weird being a player while the fans chant another name as though that’s more important than them and the program. I might do them some good to hear it as it is

Good God, don't feed the trolls. Or are you just the same person and having a conversation with yourself?

  5. I had a nice exchange with Pattyn on Facebook following that game. Possibly my second favorite UND player ever. There's dedication to the program, then there's Pattyn level dedication. Although I do have a tendency to like the role playing guys that are here for 4 years over the blue chippers that are here for 2.

Hak's teams were astoundingly consistent over the years.   He was vilified because he did not win a banner.   Week in and week out, year after year, his teams performed at a very high level.  The progress they made in the second half of many years was not a consistency problem.  In fact, I'd say his ability to meld his players into very strong teams was very consistent.

This year's team does not have a great deal of talent at forward.   I still think they are well coached and are a team most other teams would prefer to avoid, but they will have to be lucky to go deep IMO.  One thing's for sure:  they are not good enough to take undisciplined penalties.

Edit:  I meant to quote willy's post regarding consistency.   I have my own consistency issues.

I've always said that one of Hak's problems was essentially overachieving.  Everyone likes to look at his overall frozen four record, but outside DOT and Pony years,  which did disappoint, he took some teams to the frozen four that really had no business being there.

Go back and watch the 2016 NCAA title game. Cam made some big saves when he needed to. Our D-Corps were good, but not perfect.

He still makes one or two big saves a game now. Let's not pretend that sustained zone pressure, and dmen clearing pucks to the corners on gravy rebounds hasn't changed the dynamic.  He had a once in a lifetime defensive corps in front of him.  I don't understand how it's even a question why he hasn't looked the same the last two seasons.  Outside the defensemen,  it's not hard to see the difference between the forwards then, and now.  Caggiula's example had them buzzing pretty much every night, factor in Johnson,  Pogo,  and Gardner physically abusing the opponents top line nightly, again, it's not hard to figure out the difference.  Last year's team, and certainly this year's bears no resemblance, not just skill wise, but tenacity and effort.

If Cam is back in net for Friday's game at Omaha, you can bet on a loss.....with a few soft goals thrown in for good measure.

I don't know what happened to him, but he is not the same guy he was two years ago.

I can tell you what happened.  Ladue, Stecher, Ausmus, Poolman, and Thompson.
