  1. I know that SDSU tried to get a home and home with UND, starting this year. When that was turned down,we also tried to pay an absurd amount to get the FH to travel to Brookings this year for one game. Your coach refused both.

none of this is true. Jacks were due to come to GF this year but Jones wanted to take a 1 year break so that cycle with NDSU and Jacks would be home/away in each season. In other words, wants each year to have an away game at sdsu and home game vs NDSU and vice versa for following years.

  2. Fans today have to have video boards boards, as they want to be entertained as much or more than watching a game.

Hockey has not falling attendance, because of winning and the Ralph experience.  Agree, fans would go to the Ralph for basketball more than the Betty.

video boards will be installed this summer.

I thought it was a great college basketball scene last night. Entertaining game to watch.

  3. Compared to msum's. And right now the msum bball team would likely run the Jones squad off the court.

haha. No. That isn't how you would compare this. Und roughly 850k. Maybe a few bucks more. It's Chicago State range. The Montana schools are in the 1.5 million range.

  4. So pleased that Walthall hasn't moved on to a better job yet.  Imagine what he could do with UND's budget?  Moorhead's athletics are a poor cousin compared to Mankato, Duluth, and St Cloud.

UND budget?  Where did you read/hear about the great UND basketball budget?

  5. You you guys feel better?  Feel like real experts now. Super clever?  Like you've just inserted some relevance in your life?  I'm hopeful you are all superstars in whatever part of life you may walk. Pathetic creatures many of you. Anonymously taking potshots like a real man. Yea, your boss might be making you eat a $hit sandwich, your wife might be ragging on you about not paying the cable bill or your kid might be flunking a math class but damnit, I am a real shot caller on a fan forum.

A few here I respect. JDub has good objective game. Most of ya, want nothing more than abject failure. It fills your life up with some kind of bizarre cause. That you matter somehow. You can deny it all you want. I know better. I know your type. Deep down, you want a rifle job against Bradley this weekend or NDSU the following. You could care less the impact it may have on some student-athletes. Why?  Because you want to matter....on a fan forum.

  6. As do I, was trying to be more neutral though. Those in favor of him (if there are any) will argue what's he supposed to do with so many new faces. Well he's had 9 years or whatever he shouldn't have ran into this problem.

you had a good run at neutrality. Give yourself some props.  Laugh Out Loud.  Now, let's go Roughriders!

  7. This AAU rankings and tourney does not include the EYBL and adidas  uprising teams where the big boys compete... This AAU ranking and tourney are for the lower level national programs. The AAU website rankings had MN Comets ranked 8th nationally....they were a mid level AAU team in MN. ....Finished 10TH In MN with 28-19 per north star hoops....

10Comets Lewis28-19SW Stars (x2), Fury Jordan, Fury Wilde, Heat Vang, Fury Zurn 16, Grassroots, WOTN Swed, RA Jay (x2), Heat NW, SwishFury Wilde, WOTN Nicols (x2), Heat Vang, Select Altenhofen, Select Ohnstad10.

The Elite program in Iowa all iowa attack....got invited to play in the 40 Team Nike EYBL league next season... I watched Martins last 2 games and Brown did not start,   one kid in front of him was a nice mid major kid.  Billy had 6 points in 2 games, got pulled after 2 straight turnovers in final.  His defense was ok, maybe if he concentrates on one sport he might be an ok back up as a 5th year senior.

Regardless. Historical success of Martin Brothers cannot be disputed.  Has produced several d1 players. Forgot about Gesell. As for the rest of your post - inaccurate conclusion based on poor, inadequate data.

  8. I'm not as familiar as you likely are but they won the D-1/U-17 division and aausports.org has them ranked as the #11 team in the country, not sure when that was last updated.  The Prep Hoops Iowa rankings that you're referencing also haven't been updated since May 22.  Martin Brothers is a hugely successful AAU team dating back decades.

My only point is that the kid is on a successful AAU team, impressed the coach's in person at the Elite camp, had interest from multiple area schools and is a multi-sport athlete, yet you're already downplaying him as a mistake off a few games that as far as I can tell, weren't available for viewing and have no box scores.  UND has a very good Iowa connection with Horner and Jones, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt until the kid is at least on campus.

Martin Brothers consistently a top shelf aau program. Marcus Paige, Woodbury are recent alum.

  9. Also, as a side note to the 2009-10 UNI team that came to GF. They were 30-5 on the season, won the MVC conference that year, were a #9 seed in the NCAA tournament and were ranked # 13 in the country. Granted they weren't as good in 2008-09 as they were only receiving votes in the AP Poll and finished second in the MVC. When they came to GF in 2009-10, they were 7-1 and had wins over Iowa, Iowa St, and BC to name a few. I have no idea what they were ranked or if they were ranked when the came, but they did have a very good team that year.

Did you happen to peak at the attendance for that game?

  10. Personal opinion - I would prefer both games in the Betty and a loud, sold out crowd over what would likely be a half-full REA. Also no clue on if dates would even work. I get the draw in playing in the REA but I just think a full BESC is a better atmosphere. I could be swayed if they really felt they could draw a huge crowd but I just don't see it.

What jdub said. Pack the Betty!

  11. You need a whole lot more than just the video board to run the thing, especially a crappy one like that. Add in the cost of a v7000 to control the board as well as the wiring costs and additional equipment and you're spending a whole lot more than $36,000 to have a very low quality board. Do it right, buy two large video boards, get a quality Dak controller, make sure you're making use of the HD video stream that you're sending for bigsky tv and do it right.

No question. I think my point is that it may not be as expensive as we are quick to assume. My fear is that nobody is looking at this. Has somebody met with Dak to determine cost/options? If this number is not known, etc, that would be disappointing. If the cost is 400k - what is being done to raise money? A Plan. It's a glaring need compared to other D1 schools. Should be a priority. Hard to believe.
