  1. How far off are we? The job listing originally stated a base salary of $150K, then last week Faison said that they had "found" an extra $70K, raising the base salary to $220,000. UND also has camps and media avenues for the new coach to bump his salary up even further. I have to say that I expected the gap in salary to be bigger than just the $41K that it is between UND and NDSU. Also, Klieman has already been on the NDSU payroll for some time now, so that had to add to his pay.
  2. I like the idea, but what are the chances of getting Pflugrad for anything other than HC? Although I'm sure that as the list of schools looking for coaches begins to decline very quickly, he will become more open to other ideas.
  3. Sad, but true. Never heard about USC, or Washington's HR departments making up a point system for their recent coaching hires.
  4. Exactly, I understand if someone prefers somebody other than Pflugrad to get the job, but there is no argument to the fact that he is most certainly one of the 9 best candidates that have applied.
  5. And I would be okay with that. Obviously, the resume isn't what makes a good football coach. I trust Faison to make a good choice, might not be as fast as I was hoping, but I believe that he has made good hires in the past, and trust him to do it again.
  6. That place can be very hit or miss. I have had very good, and very poor service there, same thing with the food.
  7. Does the Athletic Director have any authority?? If the rumor that Pflugrad isn't even in the top 9 applicants after the HR's point system screening process, then the system is clearly flawed. Any rational person who looks at that list of applicants would definitely put Pflu in the top 5, and many of them would probably consider him the favorite. Can't Faison somehow manually override the HR's point system, and put Pflu in the mix of applicants that are going to interviewed? I know HR is a very bureaucratic thing, but we aren't hiring a Wal-Mart cashier here, this is a football coach that could potentially make (or loose) this university a lot of money. I hope that our athletic department isn't basing the decision off of an HR point system alone, and that people who actually know how college football works, and what it takes to be competitive, have the ability to override an HR technicality.
  8. I know this the story about the Madden gamer is old, however, I didn't know if anyone else saw the response that the athletics department gave him about formally applying before the deadline? In the email, the person from the athletic department said: "Please be sure that you apply in the formal designated manner through our Human Resources Office (online process) before the December 10thdeadline. Failure to do so will result in our inability to consider you as a candidate." Does this mean that the rumor of a non-applicant being pursued is false? The story is here: http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2013/12/11/5202166/sb-nation-endorses-chris-mccomas-for-north-dakota-head-coach (scroll to the bottom for the athletics department reply).
  9. Any chance of Bubba being a DC at UND? I can't see him leaving his current DC job a SIU for the DC job here, but with things being very uneasy at SIU right now, does anyone think he could possibly end up at UND as a DC if SIU decides to change things up with their coaches?
  10. I think it will take a few years. Going to be tough with the extremely limited amount of time the new coach will have this year to effectively recruit. However, next year he should be able to get a good class together with everything back to normal, and a brand new IPF to show off. Give him 3-4 years so that he can have players that he actually recruited himself. I know it's not what people want to hear, and beyond some people's patience level, but anything sooner is simply unrealistic, in my opinion. This program is certainly in hole right now, but I really believe that with the right coach, the tools are definitely in place to build a solid program.
  11. NDSU did do it with their business building, and their building is very nice. However, I personally do not like the idea because it makes for an awkward distance between buildings, certainly could not get from the business building to a building on the actual campus in 10 minutes (usual length between classes), so your schedule could have some weird gaps in time. I think that as long as there is space on campus, UND should not consider having classroom buildings off campus. One thing I think would be nice to free up space on campus in the long run would be to tear down those ugly housing buildings on University toward 42nd street, across from the aviation building. The housing could be replaced with more space efficient, apartment-style housing to the north. This would allow for new, high usuage buildings to be right along university ave, and would certainly be much more visually appealing than those ugly housing units that currently sit on such a high traveled area of campus!
  12. Yes, I personally love the style of buildings that UND has. I like the old buildings on campus, and the remodeled buildings that keep that traditional look (Education Building). I hope they go in that direction with whatever future changes they make with the business school.
  13. Never really started spending time in Grand Forks until about 2009. I have heard a couple times about this Frenchy's Tavern, sounds like it was a cool place. Where was it? Is the building still standing?
  14. Hey guys, long time follower, first time poster here. I really would like to see Pflugrad be the next head coach at UND. While people are talking about background checks, I am wondering if he was ever legally tied to any of the problems that happened in Montana? I know the QB was acquitted, but would any of that somehow show up on Pflugrads formal background check, and hinder his chances in the HR screening process?
