Good news that Poly beat Montana.....if we are able to beat them next week that will be a good win on the books for us.
-
I think the game plan during the week is to do whatever possible to make the game come down to the last minute or last play of the game.
-
Hahaha oh man that literally made me laugh out loud!
-
Pick! Ok.....you would think we'd have the game now......but still can't count on it!
-
If we lose this game.....my god
-
Why take Brady out and put Santiago in if you are just going to run up the gut.....Brady always gets some yard.
-
WTF Studs.....Ugh!!
-
We were actually moving the ball that last drive, nice mix of passes in there......penalties just killed it.
-
It's pick 6 time! Damn those penalties killed us......but at least we flipped the field on that drive.
-
They have gotten points when they had the opportunity.....we have not. Thinking this is probably going to bite us in the butt.......not sure if we are good enough consistently to overcome not getting points when you should have.
-
It's nice to see the offense has come out gang busters in the second half
-
I'd feel a lot better if it was 17-6 like it should be if not for missed field goal and then the dumb penalty.
-
Alright time for a So Long Santiago run to take the lead!!
-
Totally agree with this, I could see it going either way. Each week we keep thinking the offense is going to come together and I usually base my prediction on that......but then it never happens. I hope like some of the others have said, that our offense kicks in during conference play. I feel like doing the reverse psychology thing and predicting our offense to continue to struggle so that it ends up busting open this week. I'm going to go the weenie route and go in between and just not make a score prediction! My only prediction is that we go with white pants and white jerseys like we had against Wyoming when we rolled on the road.

When seeing initial pictures of the green logo on the green helmet I didn't think it looked to bad. Seeing them in person for the first time last weekend, I didn't think they contrasted very well.

So I guess coaches give pep talks before a game or at halftime 100% for show then? I do get what you are saying, not every game is a championship game etc., and as a player you have to be self motivated and be able to get pumped up yourself along with your teammates etc.. and a rah rah speech is not always needed, nor is yelling. Tony Dungy was a pretty soft spoken guy....and great coach. Bubba's speech about the logo I thought was great, it made me motivated to like the logo or be ok with it being on the helmet.

If I was the opposing offensive coordinator and saw how many plays Reyes was making up at the line of scrimmage, I guarantee you I'd design at least 1 or 2 plays specifically to try and take advantage of that aggressiveness and burn him deep, just like the USD coordinator did on that play. All safeties get burned deep at some point by a good play design and fake. Since Cole makes so many plays by the line of scrimmage it's just something that we'll have to look and see if he ends up getting taken advantage of more than just on a rare occasion. But believe me other offensive coordinators are going to do their best to do so.
-
I agree with that, most of his tackles are near the line of scrimmage, not down field. However I wonder if since he is making so many plays at the line of scrimmage and being aggressive, could that potentially leave him vulnerable to getting beat over the top? Not saying he is.......more just a question or thought.

Reyes is a great tackler, I wonder if he loves coming up and making plays against the run so much he gets a little antsy to come up and lay the wood that guys slip by him sometimes? It looked like the USD TD may have been on him but I'm not sure. Hopefully he can remain a bit more healthy though the rest of the year. If he had been healthy and played 4 quarters every game.....he'd likely be our leading tackler. Usually I don't think having a safety be your leading tackler is a good thing is it? Means the guys up front aren't making the play......however he is so good at coming up and making the tackle that is a big part of why he has so many.

I thought OL love running the ball, they should be able to get pumped for that.....running the ball down their throat to make it 4 yard plunges instead of a 1 yard plunge. 4 Yard plunges work all day long, that's what they need to get to. The line needs to get better, mean and nasty, and impose their will on the defense. I say that with a grain of salt though, there does need to be a bit more variety and improvement on some of the play calling.....but just saying.....the OL should be able to get pumped up for running the ball right down their throat!

Well that is pretty disappointing then, to me part of a coaches job is to get the players motivated and fired up! You don't have to use swear words and yell and all of that. Sure the assistant coaches can help but I view that as a prime responsibility of the head coach. Could it be that at Duluth Bubba was able to recruit great players and coach them well, but just couldn't get them fired up enough to get over the top since the next coach took his players and won a championship? Hopefully not. I do agree that the pride Bubba oozes about this University is contagious and he can certainly use speeches like that to fire the players up without swearing etc.. The speech he gave about the new logo.....I thought that was great!

When are people going to stop talking about "Bandwagon fans", whether it's NDSU or UND. Here is a news flash......ALL TEAMS HAVE BANDWAGON FANS........in every sport.....and every team. When you win more......more people want to be part of that, and this is nothing new.....it's always been that way.....can't believe so many people sit and complain about bandwagon fans. Do you think the stands at Memorial Stadium were full in the mid 80's when we sucked, that is before my time but I doubt they were. It is kind of lame that there was a mass exodus after the scholarship announcement, but since I wasn't there at the time to see exactly when it occurred.....I don't know if it was before or after it looked like we still had some hope so I won't comment too much about that. However we haven't had a strong enough winning football culture the past 4-5 years to make the average student want to stay when it looks like you are getting blown out. Let's keep winning and that will come around over time. Arguing about the fact that there are some bandwagon fans is like arguing about there being snow and cold weather in ND in the winter. It was nice to be back at UND again this weekend and to a game......it's been a long time since I've been to a game. Unfortunately I did have to leave at the end of the 3rd quarter to make it to a banquet (I already skipped the social hour and stayed as long as I could). I wish I could have seen the 4th quarter because just seeing the first three didn't leave a good taste in my mouth walking out of the Alerus. I'm so glad we came back and won as we needed that W, but we obviously have a lot to work on and I think every game we play in will likely be close going into the 4th quarter. The line and blocking up front is struggling so much right now I don't think we can be consistent enough to blow out anybody. I'm not even sure what the heck to think for the game next week against MT St.

I was in section 207 and everybody was standing up and yelling in the first half and most of the 3rd period. Crowd noise also caused that false start by USD down by their own goal line in the first half, and it also caused them to burn a timeout in the 3rd period. At least where I was sitting I think people were yelling pretty loud every single 3rd down.

We were fortunate enough to have Brad Berry give us a tour of the new locker rooms etc. this morning, and he let us ask questions as well and somebody asked about Sioux and the logo. He knows Sioux isn't coming back (and I'm sure isn't crazy about the new nickname), but he did show us that the new goaltender mask was just finished and it does have Fighting Hawks on it. I think he knows that in time they will somewhat have to accept it, but he did say it's very important to remember the Sioux history and where they came from. He said they have to order their jerseys about a year in advance, so there wouldn't be anything on them this year obviously. He didn't say anything along the lines that it wouldn't have Fighting Hawks on it in the future.

Every other running play the RB has to juke a defender two yards in the backfield.....this may be a very long year unless drastic.....drastic improvement is made.
