exactly. it's amazing how some roughrider supporters will spin anything and everything to fit their agenda. Schloss gave a direct quote of teddy Roosevelt, yet some are getting all upset because they apparently can't handle the truth.

the NCAA does not have the authority to sanction any states based on any awards they may hand out. at least not that i'm aware of. comparing apples and oranges here.

I don't see how taking a direct quote from Teddy Roosevelt can be construed as libel or slander. As far as people thinking he was racist, i don't think there's much argument after reading this quote.

It sounds like some people are concerned what the logo would end up being if Nodaks is chosen. Then I thought maybe they could still use a logo depicting a roughrider to make two groups of voters happy.... but, then I came to my senses and remembered the roughriders were never in north Dakota and have nothing to do with the state. so darn it, I guess that won't work.

Nice post. I think fighting can and will be added in front of Nodaks if it gains enough steam after Nodaks is chosen.

So we should be expecting the Griz and their pass happy offense to shred UND...........with their 3rd string QB (because of injuries)?
I don't see why not. until we see otherwise, that appears to be the trend.

Not a real applicable comparison since there is both an Illini and Utes tribe from which the nickname was either partially or directly derived from.
I was replying to someone giving the examples of Socars, Nocars, and Sodaks. so yes, my reply was indeed applicable, as the conversation had nothing to do with tribal affiliations.

before anyone votes tomorrow i hope they ask themselves which of these five will make und the most $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for all of our d1 teams...not the one that sticks it to the ncaa, not one gives you a warm nostalgic feeling inside, not the one that makes tom dennis/shakespeare cry....the one that makes und the most money to fund our team going forward.

Sort of. Nodaks is my second favorite. I mainly do not want to see Roughriders win. if I felt Fighting Hawks had a better chance of defeating Roughriders, then I would vote for Hawks.

If Nodaks becomes the name "again," I could see a push for another new nickname "again."
I think that's possible regardless which name is chosen.

Back when we were healthy I remember seeing a set with Reyes Johnson and Arnell on the field at the same time. That set would've been nice to have against ISU and in the fourth quarter against Weber.

so you are gonna vote based on spite and anger instead of what will make UND the most money possible to fund our D1 teams...seems selfish.
If you've got a study that proves which nickname choice is going to make UND the most money, I'm all ears.

I wonder why no other school has the nickname the "nodaks" and I also wonder how schools like north Carolina and south Carolina and south Dakota didnt' come up with nocars, socars, and sodaks?
some states it just works better with. Illinois Illini and Utah Utes seems to work well for them. Maryland Marys or West Virginia Virgins probably wouldn't pass, though.
Nodaks has worked for UND in the past. It leaves open a lot of possibilities when it comes to mascots and themes. I was leaning Fighting Hawks with Nodaks as my second choice, but with the support it sounds like Nodaks is gathering, i'll be voting Nodaks.

Lot's of reasons to stop the run first, but if you can't think of any I really don't have a lot of hope in your understanding of football in general. Tough loss and I will agree the mental mistakes are a huge problem but this team is still leaps and bounds ahead of what it was 3 years ago.
you're probably referring to a comment I made earlier and I should've elaborated. teams are finding there's no need to establish the run when we do not adjust our defense. last week against ISU was ridiculous. we let two guys dominate us with no attempt to double or jam them at the line. linebackers dropping into coverage isn't always the answer. nickel package? I realize we have personnel issues... but there has to be a better answer than what we have witnessed recently.
Weber threw 13 passes the week before. Last night they threw 35 for 3 TDs. We will face a barrage of passing attacks the rest of the way. Concentrating on stopping the run will be like winning a battle, but ultimately losing the war.

That is not accurate. He wasn't on the committee that came up with the nickname list, he was on the committee that came up with the process. He had zero direct say in what is being voted. In fact, he is more culpable in the recent lawsuit than anything if the Sioux tribes really feel like they should have a vote.
I don't think people who are this uninterested in it should've been on either committee. The process sucked IMO, and he was involved in creating the process.

I think you are spot on there. And after teams watch Weber who is not a passing game...rip us apart with fast tempo and passing.....other teams might finally realize they should just start like that in the 1st quarter, which if they do.......we are in trouble.
