  1. There are always ways to improve and there will always be nit picking.
We do need some leadership…case on point: the U of M is now working with a non-profit for NIL. The paper states the U admits they are behind (some Miami college has $2M available for athletes).

Do we have something going on this? The article also stated the next generation of athletes are not interested in relationships and how they fit into a program….the transfer portal is “show me the money.” I hope that is just a generalization.

I think I miss outdoor stadiums and small scoreboards. But we need to keep up to be competitive.

  2. I appreciate UND Fan and his honest comments. Thank you. I also enjoy reading comments from ira, sickota, and geaux sioux…. Thanks for being leaders AND I did message ira telling him is mother raised him right. All 3 of you are the same way.

The whole $$$ of college ball (and other sports) has changed so much of what made college ball college ball. I still enjoy sitting at the 50 yard line and being part of it.

UND Fan was spot on…..what are the next steps?

If I get negative and whining (I hate whining), some just tell me you need a kick in the rear.

    GO SIOUX

A championship-caliber winning football program that supporters and fans can be proud of. NDSU has completely sucked the region dry of such other than the occasional diehards, like those on this site.

Thanks and we all want that. Actually. I had more of a vision of something in your personal life…..

Not sure it’s worth it, but perhaps …

UND-FB-FAN…could I just ask if you are lacking something in your life? I sense consistent irritability. I hope you get what you are missing.

And just for the record, I like talking football 12 months of the year. I read all your posts even if some are way over my head.

    GO UND!

Wait, wait … you truly believe you shitting on everything UND and pumping up everyone else on a college message board is a difference maker? You’re an anonymous poster stating the obvious 98 percent of the time.

It’s like the blow hard on talk radio who’s got all the answers to society’s ills. Practical listeners with perspective know that, if Mr. Blow hard magically would be put in charge of the world, the tune would change as reality would set in and the realization of the task at hand would suddenly become evident. Success for Mr. Blow hard would be neither inevitable nor impossible.  What would be inevitable, however, would be the respect he would gain for the grind, the challenges, and the process.

I’ve  felt like i’ve said this 116 times before but here goes —we all pretty much feel the same way as you, we just amplify our hopes and frustrations differently. For me, i praise in public and criticize in private to the people who are involved. But i’m not an asshole to them. You do you. But it’s never as bad or as good as we think. You and a couple other tough love warriors on here come off a bit thin skinned in the face of the no-nonsense, no-excuses personas you put out there.

There are posters on here who I have the utmost respect for, such as Geaux Sioux, Ira,  Shep and Sic, who many times will say thing that are very biting criticisms of UND, but they balance things out from time to time with other kinds of hot takes that make me want to come back for more and excited to be a UND fanatic! That makes things fun and interesting and more believable, as it doesn’t come off as a bit or a schtick.

Again, things are never as bad or good as we think.

    Go Hawks! Go UND!

I agree and respect the posters listed…. Thanks for your leadership and knowledge.

Like 23 weeks until kick off? Go UND.

Yeah, but you don’t seem to understand. this doesn’t meet the agenda of folks whose expertise comes from watching ESPN, revolving their lives and happiness on how their athletic teams perform, and beer. (Nothing against beer).
As a guy who started 4,yrs in the defensive secondary, with a passion for excellence as an athlete and successful businessman, what would you know?
You make important points about the hire. Thus far,  the detractors don’t seem to be able to get past that he hasn’t played or coached anywhere else, that our team/secondary hasn’t met their expectations, and that Bubba hired him.  Maybe they will be right,  Bubba and Chaves want to win and their jobs ultimately depend on moving the program forward. Hiring from outside an organization is an important consideration in athletics and business but not either the only consideration nor the most important one.
Your points about his success as a player, relationships with players, and ability to recruit, are factors more important in a hire than where he coached last.  He has earned a shot. Time will tell.

    1. Give the guy a chance

    2. I agree with Ira… his innate abilities are more important than where he coached.

    3. Since he has coached multiple defensive positions for multiple years…. Many could consider that a benefit.

As far as names not on the 2023 roster who were on the 2022….. 2 ST, 8 O, and 18 D. I say he has his work cut out for him and he needs our support.  I hope we can add more defensive players….

Bagnell would be a good get if it is for running back coach. He has been a winner all his life and considering how crappy Mary was prior to his hire and how competitive they were the last two years.

    You call a 2 - 9 record competitive? Of course they were 0 - 9

  8. So the media is FULL of players committing snd decommiting….rather sick, IMHO. It is like pro athletes with no agents.a total free for all. I liked playing for 4 years, outdoor stadiums, and no NIL.

Why would anyone get excited over playing a non scholly team like Drake in a baseball stadium and 250 miles away from Brookings?   No idea how far it is from Drake.

I don't understand the allure of this for anyone.

Huntington Bank Stadium is an outdoor stadium on the U of M campus built in 2009 for $303,386,606. The baseball team has their own stadium.
The nose bleed seats at Huntington Bank Stadium are quite a hike…. not sure I could do it now!

I do agree about the “allure” of the game.
